Renee Rose & Vanessa Vale-Fierce

Fierce is the5th book in the Wolf Ranch series put out by the very talented Renee Rose and Vanessa Vale. In this one, we get to meet Charlie who gets together with part-time ranch hand and acting sheriff, Levi.

So, back at the ranch, the guys are waiting for a vet to bring a mare that is going to be bred to one of the Wolf Ranch studs. Levi is grumpy because the vet is going to be there for 2 weeks, and is going to be staying in the bunkhouse the entire time. Levi isn’t all that thrilled about having to share the bunkhouse with a human for 2 weeks. He had some issues with his human grandparents, and that soured him for humans for the rest of his life. But, Rob is his boss and his alpha, and what Rob says goes, and Rob said that Charlie will stay. Then, the truck hauling Seraphina, the mare, drives up, and all of a sudden things change. You see, Charlie the vet isn’t Charles the vet, she’s Charlotte the vet.

Charlie’s boss wants his best mare bred to the best stud, which would be Eddison at the Wolf Ranch. Because he is so particular, he wants her to stay there and hand breed the mare, and supervise the entire thing. When she pulls up and gets out of the truck, she surprises everyone, since she wasn’t what they were expecting to see. When there is some discussion as to where she will stay, she tells everyone that she will just go back into town and stay at a motel there. But Levi has something to say about that idea, and he says that she will be staying at the bunkhouse, with him, and only him. Johnny, the other ranch hand, gets kicked out to stay with his parents.

Levi is attracted to her, but he isn’t sure that she’s his mate, because he’s only half wolf, and he’s never shifted, so he doesn’t have that instinct, but that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t have plans for Charlie. But Charlie, for as much as she would like to have plans for Levi, also has some problems in CO, and they aren’t going to go away anytime soon.

I love how strong and confident Charlie is. She’s worked hard to get to where she is, she’s good, and she knows it. Of course, with the fact that she’s Black and a woman, she has to be better than good, and has to always be professional just so no one dings her. But, she is good. And she’s funny. She’s also very caring, which you can see when she talks to her Pops and deals with the horses. It’s more than just a job for her. I really like her, and I was mad that she was put in a bad place.

I totally understand why Levi is upset about having humans around. His family history isn’t conducive to liking humans. He’s a very good man too. He just wants to live his life. He hasn’t had any huge burning desire to go into law enforcement, but he seems to be good at it, and I think that he will do good for people, for more than just the fact that it’s a good idea to have someone in the know being part of law enforcement in the area.

I get why Rob did what he did, and it worked, but it was kinda dickish to do.

OK, that’s all for today! Go check it out! Happy reading!

Vanessa Vale & Renee Rose: Savage

Savage is the 4th book in Vanessa and Renee’s Wolf Ranch series, and the first one that isn’t one of the Wolf brothers, although it could be argued that the Wolf boys are Clint’s brother because after their parents died, Clint’s parents basically adopted the boys and helped them out as much as possible, so there’s that. So let’s get into the gig, shall we?

Clint helps out his pack as much as possible, as well as working on the ranch, but he has one really important and super-secret job. He’s an enforcer for the ruling council of the shifter world. There aren’t a lot of them, and their identities are all kept secret. That’s because they are the ones who handle the shifters who are endangering the secret of the shifters. So, he’s the one who gets called out when there is a shifter who is on drugs and killing humans. Clint has to go out and kill him. During that mission, it just reminds him that he can’t have a mate, because the fact that he had been an enforcer would put his mate at risk. What Clint doesn’t know is that fate has other plans for him.

Becky is a nurse, and she’s Audrey’s best friend. At Audrey’s bachelorette party, Clint and Becky hooked up after Clint got his nose broken protecting her. It was some wild and crazy fucking, and Becky was totally down with it. And then they both walked away. And it seemed like everything was good, except she couldn’t stop thinking of him. Then she found out that she would never be able to stop thinking about him because that one night had one huge repercussion. Clint’s little swimmers got through the condom and knocked Becky up. She hasn’t seen him (mostly because he’s been gone), and she’s not sure that she’s going to tell him she’s pregnant. It’s not that she wants to hide from him, but there are several reasons why she has to do it.

Clint is a good and honorable man. It really tears him up to do his job, but he really does it because he knows that the job has to be done. He’s also a good man because he wants to protect the people in his care. I think that he needed to stop holding onto some of his secrets sooner, because the truth will set you free.

Becky is incredibly strong. She’s had to be, and I’m really impressed by her. She has to handle some stupid shit, and she does, well. I think that having some backup is definitely good for her, but I feel like she could probably go through a lot more on her own, but it’s good she doesn’t have to.

I love this world, and I’m looking forward to more in it.

Ugh, Creepy McCreeperson is creepy and stalkery AF.

OK, that’s all for today. Go check it out! Happy reading!

Renee Rose & Vanessa Vale-Feral

Feral is the 3rd book in Renee and Vanessa’s Wolf Ranch series. This book is the story of Rob, who is the oldest brother and the Alpha of the Wolf pack. He’s close on to succumbing to the moon madness because he hasn’t met his mate yet, and he will have to be put down by his family. So, shall we find out whether or not Rob gets offed?

Let’s start with Rob and one of his men going to Natalie’s house. She’s the neighbor who inherited her house after her uncle died. Her property is in between the Wolf Ranch and their dickhead neighbor, Jett. Jett has been trying to get her property, and he’s done all kinds of things to try and get the property. So when Rob and his man hear a woman screaming when they get to their house, they burst in and search the house. Lucky for Rob, bad for Natalie, because she was in her room having some special time with a great big dildo. Then she grabbed a handgun and pointed it at him. Which, you know, might make a normal man lose his erection, but not Rob, especially since Natalie is his mate.

Then we have Natalie, who isn’t really Natalie. Her name is actually Willow and she’s an undercover DEA agent there to try to bust Jett, because he’s working with a cartel member to traffic drugs. She doesn’t know that she’s Rob’s mate, all she knows is that she’s terribly attracted to Rob, and frankly, his rather large VPL doesn’t hurt anything. Willow knows that she really shouldn’t get too involved with Rob, because she’s supposed to be getting Jett to pay attention to her, and she can’t afford to be distracted, but it’s impossible to stay away from him.

Willow is a badass bitch. I mean, she outshoots Rob with her offhand. When she uses her dominant hand, she is spectacular. She knows who she is and she’s very happy in her skin and with who she is, I think. I think that she very much owns her sexuality, and has no problems with wanting what she wants, and definitely has no problems with going after what she wants. I liked watching her work, because she was really good at her job. I am looking forward to seeing more of her in later books.

Rob is a good man and a good leader. Of course, he sometimes has his head up his ass and doesn’t stop and think, which causes him some problems. Luckily, he has brothers who are willing to kick the crap out of him, if necessary. Of course, I think that it would take both of them, and maybe a friend or two, to beat Rob up. But he really is a good guy who wants to make sure that his pack is well-taken care of, even at the risk of losing his own happiness.

I liked how Rob handled the young woman from Canada.

OK, that’s all I have to say about this one. Go check it out! Happy reading!

Renee Rose & Vanessa Vale-Wild

Wild is the second book in Renee and Vanessa’s Wolf Rance books. It’s currently live everywhere, except Amazon, who are taking their own sweet time. They’ll probably get to it sooner or later, but if you buy your books from anywhere else, you’re in luck. I’m primarily an Amazon girl, since I read on my Kindle, but I’ve found Kobo to be pretty easy to work with.

So, here’s our story. Audrey and Boyd, our couple from the first book, are just about to get married. Because of that, Marina, Audrey’s sister, and Colton, Boyd’s brother, are on their way to the ranch so that they can be there for the wedding. Except, there’s a huge fucking storm. Big enough that it causes a creek to flood over the road. Marina decides that she wants to experience the true fury of the storm, and goes to stand outside on a pillar to look at the creek and get rained all over. Then, Colton shows up.

Colton knows there’s something about her from the very second he sees her. His wolf recognizes her as his mate. He wants nothing more than to grab her off the pillar, take her to bed, and stay there for pretty much ever. Instead, he tells her his name, and they go back to a hotel together and spend a fantastic night together. In the morning, while Colton’s in the shower, Marina leaves, headed toward the ranch.

See, here’s the problem. Colton never asked her name, so he has no idea who she is or how to find her. Marina, however, knew who he was as soon as he told her his name, and she knew that she would see him again, real soon. She also thinks it’s nothing more than a fling. I think both Colton and Marina have lots of things to learn.

Marina has a sweet heart and she brings a lot of joy and light wherever she goes. I think that she is just bubbly and happy. Now, that doesn’t mean that she isn’t dealing with a shit ton of crap, because she is, but happy and joyful are her default setting, I think. I think that her father is a true asshole, especially when it comes to dismissing such a sweet young woman.

I think that Colton is a good man who lives a lot in his head. Of course his wolf is about this >< close to going completely off the rails, and he’s a little out of control because of that, but he spends a lot of time thinking about things, and about what he thinks is the best thing to do. I think that he should probably spend a little more time talking to Marina and seeing what she thinks is the best thing to do.

I can’t wait for the next one, because I’m pretty sure it’s going to be explosive.

That jerk is going to be a huge fucking problem, I know it.

OK, that’s all for this one. Go check it out! Happy reading!

Renee Rose & Vanessa Vale-Rough

Rough is the first book out of Vanessa and Renee’s new co-written series. You get the best of both worlds with this book. You get the cowboys that Vanessa writes and you get the hot alpha shifters that Renee writes. And if there is a lot of sexy tension? Well, both ladies are good at that, so yay!

Boyd is a super duper world champion rodeo rider. He’s also a shifter. His last name, Wolf, is the perfect name for him. Today, he’s back at home, about to be riding a bull for at least 8 seconds. But first, he wants to go find his friend, who happens to be seeing the arena doc because he broke his finger. When Boyd gets there, he discovers that the arena doc isn’t one he’d ever met before. She’s a beautiful woman. And oh yeah, she’s his mate. And human.

Audrey is new to this corner of Montana. She is an OBGYN who wanted to get out to the big sky, beautiful mountains, and clear air. Today, she is acting as the arena doc at a rodeo, which isn’t a hardship, because hot cowboys. Then in walks Boyd, who is the hottest cowboy in the history of hot cowboys. She goes to watch him, which works, right until he gets distracted and gored by the bull he’s riding. She runs to the rescue, and to take him to the hospital, which is where things start to be a problem.

I like Audrey. I think that she is truly concerned about the people who she is supposed to take care of. She worries about Boyd and his health, because he obviously was hurt badly, so she needed to go check on him. I think that she has a very sweet heart, and that she loves the magic of the world, even when she wants to say that she’s strictly a scientist, but babies being born is magic, no matter what.

I think that Boyd has a good heart, but he’s also got some issues that he has a hard time getting past. I don’t blame him, those things would be hard for anyone to handle, really, and I might have felt the same way. I think that he waited a little long to talk to Audrey about certain things, but love is kinda hard to work with sometimes.

I’m looking forward to seeing more of this world, because I want to see what happens with Boyd’s brother and if Audrey’s sister shows up.

cowboy-1130695_1920

I personally think that Boyd’s brother and Audrey’s sister are going to end up together, so I’m looking forward to see if that happens.

OK, that’s all for today! Go check it out! Happy reading!

Vanessa Vale-Their Rebellious Bride

I’ve read other Vanessa Vale books, but I think this is the first one I’ve put on here. Their Rebellious Bride is one of her Bridgewater books. There are 2 or 3 series that happen in and around Bridgewater. I think this is the 1st book in the 3rd series. This one is set in the Old West, as is one of the others, while the 3rd series is set in modern days. They all take place in Montana, in the same area, and they all involve what is called a Bridgewater marriage, which is a MFM marriage.

This one is about Jonah, James, and Tennessee. Tennessee is friends with James’ little sister, Abigail. When Tennie got in trouble, Abigail went to the rescue, and being a good big brother, James went to her rescue, along with Abigail’s two husbands. He also called in his neighbor and good friend, Jonah, because he’s planning on marrying Tennessee and he wants to do it Bridgewater style, for reasons, and Jonah is the only person he trusts to do it with.

Tennessee went to finishing school with Abigail, and on her first day, she first set eyes on James, and dreamt about him ever since. It didn’t matter anyway because her father had plans for her, and those plans involved marrying a rich man and keeping her father in gambling money. But that fell through, spectacularly. When she’s rescued by James, he informs her that he will be marrying her. She’s not having that, so she makes a big burly guy think that James is going to hurt her, which lets her run away and gets James knocked the fuck out and a black eye. Luckily, Jonah gets there, and they track down Tennessee, pick her up, stick her on a horse, and head out to James’ ranch and a priest.

I like Tennessee. She’s got spunk and sass. I think that she is going to lead her men on a merry chase through their marriage. I also think that she is pretty smart and confident in herself. She knows what she can do and she is willing to show people what she can do.  I don’t know how actually rebellious she is versus how independent she is and how she’s learned that she shouldn’t trust people.

James and Jonah, hmmm… I think that I like them both. I think that James had a few periods of feeling a little too sorry for himself for something that was completely random, but other than that, I liked him. I think that Jonah was a very honorable man. He did something that a lot of men wouldn’t have done, and he did it without complaining about his lot.

agriculture-animals-barn-735973

I really don’t like Jonah’s son at first, but he did start to redeem himself. I’m betting that we will see him in a future book.

OK, that’s all I have to say about this one. Happy reading!

Vanessa Vale-Montana Wild

This is the 2nd or 3rd Vanessa Vale book I’ve read, but only the first one I’ve blogged about. This is a rather sweet and light romance with a touch of funny and more than a touch of meddling sex shop owner. Montana Wild is the 4th of the Small Town Romance books that all take place around Bozeman, Montana. I haven’t read the other three, and while there are recurring characters, like Goldie and George the Gnome, I didn’t feel like I was lost or anything. The book was complete in and of itself, so no worries there.

Violet is a 1st grade teacher. Now that school’s out for the summer, she’s subbing for her twin sister at Goldilocks, Bozeman’s best sex shop. OK, Bozeman’s ONLY sex shop. She has to deal with Goldie, who, while a lovely woman, is nosy and pushy. And among other things, she has pushed Violet into writing word porn, or as we might call it, a smutty novel. Yay for smutty novels! But Violet is sort of maybe ashamed and embarrassed about it, but Goldie isn’t. So Goldie’s getting a cover made for it.

One day, the phone rings at Goldilocks, and it turns out to be Mike. Mike the podiatrist. Mike who was so close to Violet when they were younger. She and Mike lost their virginity together, then he left and didn’t come back for 10 years. Violet was pretty sure that showed her exactly where her place in Mike’s life was, and she’s been hurt and maybe just a little bit bitter about it ever since. But now, Mike needs her. Or rather, her twin sister, who is off on a road trip with her new man. So, Violet it is. You see, Mike is in Alaska at a family reunion at his uncle’s house, along with his mother and father, some cousins and their kids, and a pair of identical male twins who only speak French. And there is a crazy next neighbor who is recently divorced and who is just positive that she is Mike’s soulmate. So Mike needs a girlfriend, and Violet fits the description, namely female and available. Only when she gets to Alaska, she finds out that she’s not just his girlfriend, she’s now his fiancee, complete with a hideously ugly ring.

I both felt sorry for Mike and Violet and laughed at some of the things that happened. It seemed like everything that just started to spiral out of control. They were being pushed together but they were having their own issues that kept pushing them apart. Violet had a hard time letting go old hurt but Mike wasn’t really helping all that much either. All in all, I really enjoyed this one, and it was a nice light change of pace.

bait-catch-coho-salmon-1058295

Who knew that the way to a woman’s heart was going fishing for salmon?

Mike should’ve stopped and thought about how his actions would’ve hurt Violet a long time before he actually did.

I would probably strangle a whole lot of people were I Mike and Violet. I get why they did what they did, but seriously, that’s almost mean.

OK, that’s all I have to say about this one! Go check it and the rest of the series out. Happy reading!
