Vanessa Vale & Renee Rose-Warrior

Renee and Vanessa are back with the 3rd book in the Alpha Mountain series Warrior. This is Quincy and Kennedy’s story.

Ford and his team are still trying to clear his name from his dishonorable discharge. They haven’t quite succeeded yet, but they haven’t given up. Kennedy is still researching and analyzing all the data he can get ahold of. Meanwhile, they are still taking jobs and growing the business. One thing they have done is to buy a helicopter and hire a former Naval pilot.

Quincy is that pilot. She was stationed in the same places as the guys’ SEAL team several times, and she flew them on missions. One time, when they were all in the same place, she and Kennedy got it on. Of course, they went their separate ways after, because neither of them really want a relationship, and Kennedy’s a man-whore. Quincy doesn’t want to risk catching feelings over him. Staying away from each other is going to be harder now, considering that they live in the same bunkhouse, just down the hall from each other.

I like Quincy. I think that she has worked really hard to become who she is. Part of it is that she felt she had to prove herself to her Admiral father and her three older brothers, who are also all high ranking Naval officers. But the fact is that she got there on her own, no matter who she decided she needed to prove herself to. I think that she is really strong and I definitely wouldn’t want to mess with her. She can hold her own for sure. I like her mom, and she lays some truth on Quincy at the right time. I know I don’t like her dad. I get where he is coming from, he loves his daughter and he wants her to be safe, but he never really knows her.

I think that Kennedy is a good man. He knows who he is and what he wants, which is more than a lot of people can say. He isn’t willing to let other people use him for their own ends, and he isn’t going to let anyone dictate his life. He is very protective of his team, which would include Quincy even if he didn’t want to have a relationship with her. He does have to fight his protective instincts when it comes to her, because if he tries to smother her, she will smother him with a pillow.

That’s all for this one. It is definitely worth the read, so go check it out. Happy reading!

Renee Rose & Vanessa Vale-Alpha Mountain: Rebel

So, Rebel is the second book in this series. It’s all about a group of former Navy SEALs who now have a private security firm based in a small town in Montana. Rafael, whose call name is Hayes, is one of the guys, and he is all about Megan, who is a deputy sheriff.

Megan has made it very clear to Hayes that all she wants is sex. She doesn’t want a relationship, for so many reasons. She was abandoned by her parents at different times, and she has decided that no one can be trusted, and she isn’t going to let anyone in. No matter how many orgasms they give her. After their first encounter, Megan goes on about her own life, and doesn’t give Hayes a lot of thought. Really she doesn’t.

Meanwhile, Raf is just trying to figure out how he’s going to get Megan to admit that she’s his, even though she’s not quite ready to admit it. Or even admit that anything might be happening other than a good time in bed. He’s been a bit bothered about not hearing from her until he pulls up on a traffic stop that Megan and her partner are doing. Being the dedicated former SEAL that he is, he decides that he will pull over a bit behind the traffic stop just in case something goes wrong and she needs him. When the stop is over, Megan comes to talk to Hayes, and he tells her that he’ll be at her house waiting for her, because the whole adrenaline from the traffic stop must be making her all wound up.

So, for the next few days, Megan and Raf hook up, and she kicks him out as soon as everything’s done. She doesn’t want a relationship. Raf is upset about it during the day, but at least he is with her for a little while, and it is still giving him the chance to convince her that they belong together.

But then, Megan’s past raises its ugly head, and what she and Hayes may or may not have had is very suddenly up in the air.

I like Megan. She has done a lot for herself. She really did turn herself into someone that she was proud of, and I am really impressed with her. She is very competent and terrifyingly good at everything that she chooses to do. I love her whole let’s just keep it sex attitude, and how it seems to put Hayes on the back foot. It’s a real reversal in the genre.

Raf sometimes bothers me. He knows that she’s really good at what she does, but then he pulls up on her traffic stop and he has to stay there and wait to see if something happens so he can ride to the rescue. To me, that felt like he was undermining herand doubting that she could do her job. It just irked me a bit.

Overall though, I really did enjoy the story. Megan and Raf are both stubborn and determined, and I really respect them both for that.

OK, that’s all for this one. Go check it out. Happy reading!

Lee Savino & Renee Rose-Alpha’s Vow

So, we’re back in Lee and Renee’s world of hot wolves and the women who love them. Alpha’s Vow is the second book in the Shifter’s Op series, which takes place in Taos. These books are about a pack of shifters who were in Special Forces, but who have now all left the service and have a security company. It’s a small pack and they are all very tight.

Lance is one of the wolves in the pack. He’s pretty mellow and just kind of goes along with whatever the alpha tells him to do. In fact, the Alpha is his older brother and he raised Lance after their parents died. He still is protective of Lance, and he, and all their pack, kind of see Lance as not as responsible and they don’t always seem to expect him to do the right thing. He’s also a bit of a lady’s man, a hit ’em and quit ’em kinda dude. He doesn’t have any huge lifeplan.

Then, we have Charlie. She is part of a group of 4 friends, one of whom recently got together with a security ops type. She has a lifeplan, a very strict lifeplan. Charlie wants to have a nice, stable life, with a nice, stable husband, and 2.5 nice, stable children. She’s not going to let anything mess that up for her. She knows exactly what she wants.

On her birthday, Charlie decides that she’s going to go to her favorite hot spring and just have a wonderful early morning soak for the first day of her newest year. She’s quite happy, right up until a naked man jumps in the spring. Whoops. She wasn’t expecting him, and he certainly wasn’t expecting her. He immediately starts flirting and the tension gets really high. Charlie isn’t all that interested because he doesn’t fit her plan. She gets out and leaves him behind her, she thinks.

She goes out with her friends for her birthday, and her friends talk her into having one wild and crazy night. It wasn’t originally her plan, but Charlie and Lance get together, and she tells him it’s only ever going to be one night.

Lance has taken to doing long run and long swims in his wolven form. One morning, after a swim in a cold river, he flings himself into a hot spring, while he was still in his wolf form. Luckily, he saw the lovely woman in the water before she saw him and he could change. There’s just something about her that he likes. So he flirts with her hard. What he doesn’t realize right then, and not before Charlie left, was that she is his true mate. He discovers it at an interesting time, and kinda blows any chance of a good relationship straight out of the water.

I like how strong Charlie is. She’s been through a lot, and she doesn’t want to have to deal with it again. Frankly, I don ‘t blame her for a lot of her choices. I also understand why she is so focused on her plan. It totally makes sense. But, she’s also kinda rigid sometimes and doesn’t adapt as well as she might otherwise do. I really like how she interacts with her friends and does what she can to help them out. She also makes Lance see himself differently.

I think that Lance was happy to let himself go as the playboy who is a little irresponsible. I think that it was easier for his brother if he just went along, did what he was told, and fucked anything that moved. But, that’s really not all there is to him. I think everyone does him a disservice by treating the way that they do.

OK, that’s all for this one. Go check it out! Happy reading!

Renee Rose & Lee Savino-Alpha’s Moon

Before I get started on today’s book, I want to say that I will never put a link on how to read X Book free online. I may provide links to free book giveaways, but never how to read free online. That’s pirating, and I don’t support it.

***********************************************************

OK, now that I’ve had to say that, let’s talk about Renee and Lee’s new book. Alpha’s Moon is the first book in a new series, but this is a continuation of the shifter world they’ve been writing for the past 3 years. We’re based in Taos instead of Arizona, but, other than that, everything is the same.

So, we start with Sadie the Kindergarden Teacher. Her dad is on the city council. Her ex is a huge cheater and keeps trying to get her back. And it’s Whine Wednesday. It’s the day that she and all her girls get together, have wine, and whine. They are out having fun when the 4 of them see some huge guys with wolf tattoos getting off their motorcycles. One of the guys seems to stare at her, and she can’t pull her eyes away from him. Then, her ex calls, tells her that he knows where she is, and he’s waiting by the rideshare pickup stand to take her home. That’s when Sadie is like nope, and accidentally bumps into the hot biker and asks him for a favor. She wants him to pretend that they are dating to her ex, so he’ll live her alone.

Now, let’s talk about Deke. He and his 3 buddies are shifters, all wolves. They used to be Special Ops in the Army, but now all of them have left. They still do the same basic work, but now it’s on a more confidential, sneaky manner. The guys also do some security work. But, Deke has problems. He’s about >< away from going feral. He wants to fight. All the time. And to the death. The whole team is close to the edge, but Deke is definitely the worst. So, he’s been banned from hanging around humans. Then, he smells candy, and realizes that it comes from a sweet woman asking for his help.

A couple of weeks later, Sadie needs a plus one to a wedding, and she’s hoping that Deke will be her pretend boyfriend for the weekend, especially since her ex is going to be there. Despire what his Alpha says, Deke says that he’s going to go with her.

I liked Sadie at the beginning. I thought that she was a sweet person. And she is. But as the book went on, I liked her more and more. We really got to see a lot from her throughout the book, and I really enjoyed that. We don’t always get to see that kind of evolution in the heroine of the book. I really like watching her figure out who she is.

Poor Deke. He was always a good man, but he got so far into his head and was so convinced that he was terrible, that it turned into that. I think that his whole team needs a lot of help, and they need to see a psychiatrist for PTSD, because they all have got it. He has a really strong protective streak and a really good heart. I think that Sadie is going to be so fantastic for him.

I think that Adele knows a lot more than she is saying. I just get a little inkling about that.

I really dislike Sadie’s dad. Ugh.

OK, that’s all for this one, go check it out!

Renee Rose-The Fixer

This is the second book in Renee’s Chicago Bratva books. We first met these guys, or at least Maxim’s boss, in last year’s Black Light Roulette book, and then he ended up with his own book. Now, we have Maxim and Sasha in The Fixer, and we still get some mentions of Black Light, which is perfect, since this year’s Roulette just dropped. Anyway, let’s talk about Maxim and Sasha.

So, Sasha’s dad is a high head honcho in the Moscow Bratva. He used to be Maxim’s boss, but after a lie that Sasha told, he got sent to Chciago. Now, it’s 7 years later, and her dad is dying. He never married her mother, so now that he’s dying, he’s making plans for Sasha and her mother, and oh, all his money. The mother goes to the second in command. Sasha? Well, she’s to marry Maxim who will have control of all her millions of dollars for all her new oil fields. And when I say marry, I mean they dragged in the city clerk, the old man handed Maxim a ring to give Sasha, and they sign on the dotted line, and then pops kicks the bucket.

Sasha is not happy. She knows that Maxim hates her, how could he not, after all, she told a lie about him and got him sent away. And that doesn’t even count the fact that she quite literally showed up naked in his bed years ago and he walked away. It’s obvious he doesn’t like her or want her. So, Sasha is determined that she will just get him to leave her in Moscow and just give heer money to live on.

Now Maxim, he’s perfectly happy living in Chicago. He likes his boss, he likes his brothers, and he likes the freedome that being in the US gives him. So, he’s terribly surprised when he comes to Moscow to find out that he’s going to marry Sasha. This is definitely an interesting turn up because he didn’t think that this would happen, but now, several years after he kicked a young Sasha out of his bed and then got kicked out of Moscow, he now gets to have a grownup Sasha as his wife. She may come with gazillions of dollars, but that isn’t anywhere near the draw that she is.

I like Sasha. I think that she has a lot of fire and spark. I love that she literally makes Maxim chase her, but it seems like it’s a game that they both end up liking. She’s smart and clever and she’s brave and she’s not afraid to make herself known. I think that she’s been raised to use her body and looks as a weapon and she does that well, but I don’t think it would work nearly as well without the brains and boldness that she keeps under wraps. She also has a really loving heart. When she lets down her guard, she makes friends easily, and it’s easy to see why.

Maxim is a good man. That doesn’t mean that he’s on the side of the law or that he doesn’t do things that break the law, because he’s a member of the Russian Mafiya, so he totally does do those things. But, he’s good and honorable within his standards and morals. He does have a blind spot when it comes to women, but he’s still a good man.

I hate Sasha’s mother. Bitch.

OK, that’s all for this one. Go check it out! Happy reading!

Renee Rose & Vanessa Vale-Ruthless

Renee and Vanessa are back with another Wolf Ranch book, Ruthless. And all I have to say is yay! (Well, I have a little more than that to say, otherwise it would be a really short blog post.)

Two years ago, Old Man Sheffield died, leaving his ranch, which is next door to the Wolf Ranch, to his niece, Natalie. In the past, Willow, who mated to Rob Wolf, pretended to be Natalie, but she got busted. But now, after 2 years, the real Natalie is back, and she’s going to live on the ranch. She’s just gotten her master’s degree in music, and she’s a concert violinist, but that just doen’t make a lot of money in LA. So, she has a free ranch, she might as well go live there. Which she does. And she’s stuck trying to come up with the money to pay for the repairs to the house, which it really needs. Meanwhile, she’s just going to keep slinging drinks at the bar, earning what money she can, and try to figure out how to make more money. And oh yeah, keep the secret that her neighbors and many of the people who live on the mountain are shifters. She learned the secret many years ago, when she saw Rand change, and her uncle told her about it. Not only is she keeping the secret from the world, she’s also keeping the secret from the shifters.

Then there’s Rand. He’s now a contractor, but back in the day, when he was a teenager, he worked on the Sheffield ranch helping out. One day, a tractor fell on him, so he just shifted so that he could work his way out from under it. What he doesn’t know is that the 10 year old little girl who was visiting her uncle saw him. What he does know is that the last couple of months have been difficult for him. He’s been edgy and grumpy. One night, on the full moon run, he smells something, something tantalizing, wonderous, and addictive. He follows the smell down to the swimming hole on the Sheffield ranch and sees Natalie, swimming in the moonlight. She stands up and spots him, as a wolf, and meets his eye. That’s when he realizes she’s his mate.

I like Natalie. I love her determination. She has obviously had to have a lot of determination to get through college and do it the way that she did. She also has a lot of determination about living in Montana on her uncle’s ranch. She feels like she’s there for a reason, so she’s determined to find out what that reason is. I think that she also tries hard to be practical and realistic within the framework of the knowledge that she has. I do like her. I like her sass and her fire. She keeps Rand on his toes for sure.

Rand is definitely a wolf. He’s bossy, possessive, dominating, and knows what he wants. So, just like every single other guy in this series. The nice thing about Rand is that he has the benefit of everyone else screwing up, including his brother, and the benefit of all the other human women he can ask for assistance when he’s trying to figure stuff out. I think that helps him at times, because there are a lot of times when he falls on his face and needs some help.

OK, that’s all there is for today. Nothing below the pic today. Go check it out! Happy reading!

Renee Rose & Vanessa Vale-Fierce

Fierce is the5th book in the Wolf Ranch series put out by the very talented Renee Rose and Vanessa Vale. In this one, we get to meet Charlie who gets together with part-time ranch hand and acting sheriff, Levi.

So, back at the ranch, the guys are waiting for a vet to bring a mare that is going to be bred to one of the Wolf Ranch studs. Levi is grumpy because the vet is going to be there for 2 weeks, and is going to be staying in the bunkhouse the entire time. Levi isn’t all that thrilled about having to share the bunkhouse with a human for 2 weeks. He had some issues with his human grandparents, and that soured him for humans for the rest of his life. But, Rob is his boss and his alpha, and what Rob says goes, and Rob said that Charlie will stay. Then, the truck hauling Seraphina, the mare, drives up, and all of a sudden things change. You see, Charlie the vet isn’t Charles the vet, she’s Charlotte the vet.

Charlie’s boss wants his best mare bred to the best stud, which would be Eddison at the Wolf Ranch. Because he is so particular, he wants her to stay there and hand breed the mare, and supervise the entire thing. When she pulls up and gets out of the truck, she surprises everyone, since she wasn’t what they were expecting to see. When there is some discussion as to where she will stay, she tells everyone that she will just go back into town and stay at a motel there. But Levi has something to say about that idea, and he says that she will be staying at the bunkhouse, with him, and only him. Johnny, the other ranch hand, gets kicked out to stay with his parents.

Levi is attracted to her, but he isn’t sure that she’s his mate, because he’s only half wolf, and he’s never shifted, so he doesn’t have that instinct, but that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t have plans for Charlie. But Charlie, for as much as she would like to have plans for Levi, also has some problems in CO, and they aren’t going to go away anytime soon.

I love how strong and confident Charlie is. She’s worked hard to get to where she is, she’s good, and she knows it. Of course, with the fact that she’s Black and a woman, she has to be better than good, and has to always be professional just so no one dings her. But, she is good. And she’s funny. She’s also very caring, which you can see when she talks to her Pops and deals with the horses. It’s more than just a job for her. I really like her, and I was mad that she was put in a bad place.

I totally understand why Levi is upset about having humans around. His family history isn’t conducive to liking humans. He’s a very good man too. He just wants to live his life. He hasn’t had any huge burning desire to go into law enforcement, but he seems to be good at it, and I think that he will do good for people, for more than just the fact that it’s a good idea to have someone in the know being part of law enforcement in the area.

I get why Rob did what he did, and it worked, but it was kinda dickish to do.

OK, that’s all for today! Go check it out! Happy reading!

Vanessa Vale & Renee Rose: Savage

Savage is the 4th book in Vanessa and Renee’s Wolf Ranch series, and the first one that isn’t one of the Wolf brothers, although it could be argued that the Wolf boys are Clint’s brother because after their parents died, Clint’s parents basically adopted the boys and helped them out as much as possible, so there’s that. So let’s get into the gig, shall we?

Clint helps out his pack as much as possible, as well as working on the ranch, but he has one really important and super-secret job. He’s an enforcer for the ruling council of the shifter world. There aren’t a lot of them, and their identities are all kept secret. That’s because they are the ones who handle the shifters who are endangering the secret of the shifters. So, he’s the one who gets called out when there is a shifter who is on drugs and killing humans. Clint has to go out and kill him. During that mission, it just reminds him that he can’t have a mate, because the fact that he had been an enforcer would put his mate at risk. What Clint doesn’t know is that fate has other plans for him.

Becky is a nurse, and she’s Audrey’s best friend. At Audrey’s bachelorette party, Clint and Becky hooked up after Clint got his nose broken protecting her. It was some wild and crazy fucking, and Becky was totally down with it. And then they both walked away. And it seemed like everything was good, except she couldn’t stop thinking of him. Then she found out that she would never be able to stop thinking about him because that one night had one huge repercussion. Clint’s little swimmers got through the condom and knocked Becky up. She hasn’t seen him (mostly because he’s been gone), and she’s not sure that she’s going to tell him she’s pregnant. It’s not that she wants to hide from him, but there are several reasons why she has to do it.

Clint is a good and honorable man. It really tears him up to do his job, but he really does it because he knows that the job has to be done. He’s also a good man because he wants to protect the people in his care. I think that he needed to stop holding onto some of his secrets sooner, because the truth will set you free.

Becky is incredibly strong. She’s had to be, and I’m really impressed by her. She has to handle some stupid shit, and she does, well. I think that having some backup is definitely good for her, but I feel like she could probably go through a lot more on her own, but it’s good she doesn’t have to.

I love this world, and I’m looking forward to more in it.

Ugh, Creepy McCreeperson is creepy and stalkery AF.

OK, that’s all for today. Go check it out! Happy reading!

Renee Rose & Vanessa Vale-Feral

Feral is the 3rd book in Renee and Vanessa’s Wolf Ranch series. This book is the story of Rob, who is the oldest brother and the Alpha of the Wolf pack. He’s close on to succumbing to the moon madness because he hasn’t met his mate yet, and he will have to be put down by his family. So, shall we find out whether or not Rob gets offed?

Let’s start with Rob and one of his men going to Natalie’s house. She’s the neighbor who inherited her house after her uncle died. Her property is in between the Wolf Ranch and their dickhead neighbor, Jett. Jett has been trying to get her property, and he’s done all kinds of things to try and get the property. So when Rob and his man hear a woman screaming when they get to their house, they burst in and search the house. Lucky for Rob, bad for Natalie, because she was in her room having some special time with a great big dildo. Then she grabbed a handgun and pointed it at him. Which, you know, might make a normal man lose his erection, but not Rob, especially since Natalie is his mate.

Then we have Natalie, who isn’t really Natalie. Her name is actually Willow and she’s an undercover DEA agent there to try to bust Jett, because he’s working with a cartel member to traffic drugs. She doesn’t know that she’s Rob’s mate, all she knows is that she’s terribly attracted to Rob, and frankly, his rather large VPL doesn’t hurt anything. Willow knows that she really shouldn’t get too involved with Rob, because she’s supposed to be getting Jett to pay attention to her, and she can’t afford to be distracted, but it’s impossible to stay away from him.

Willow is a badass bitch. I mean, she outshoots Rob with her offhand. When she uses her dominant hand, she is spectacular. She knows who she is and she’s very happy in her skin and with who she is, I think. I think that she very much owns her sexuality, and has no problems with wanting what she wants, and definitely has no problems with going after what she wants. I liked watching her work, because she was really good at her job. I am looking forward to seeing more of her in later books.

Rob is a good man and a good leader. Of course, he sometimes has his head up his ass and doesn’t stop and think, which causes him some problems. Luckily, he has brothers who are willing to kick the crap out of him, if necessary. Of course, I think that it would take both of them, and maybe a friend or two, to beat Rob up. But he really is a good guy who wants to make sure that his pack is well-taken care of, even at the risk of losing his own happiness.

wolf-2705883_1920

I liked how Rob handled the young woman from Canada.

OK, that’s all I have to say about this one. Go check it out! Happy reading!

Renee Rose & Vanessa Vale-Wild

Wild is the second book in Renee and Vanessa’s Wolf Rance books. It’s currently live everywhere, except Amazon, who are taking their own sweet time. They’ll probably get to it sooner or later, but if you buy your books from anywhere else, you’re in luck. I’m primarily an Amazon girl, since I read on my Kindle, but I’ve found Kobo to be pretty easy to work with.

So, here’s our story. Audrey and Boyd, our couple from the first book, are just about to get married. Because of that, Marina, Audrey’s sister, and Colton, Boyd’s brother, are on their way to the ranch so that they can be there for the wedding. Except, there’s a huge fucking storm. Big enough that it causes a creek to flood over the road. Marina decides that she wants to experience the true fury of the storm, and goes to stand outside on a pillar to look at the creek and get rained all over. Then, Colton shows up.

Colton knows there’s something about her from the very second he sees her. His wolf recognizes her as his mate. He wants nothing more than to grab her off the pillar, take her to bed, and stay there for pretty much ever. Instead, he tells her his name, and they go back to a hotel together and spend a fantastic night together. In the morning, while Colton’s in the shower, Marina leaves, headed toward the ranch.

See, here’s the problem. Colton never asked her name, so he has no idea who she is or how to find her. Marina, however, knew who he was as soon as he told her his name, and she knew that she would see him again, real soon. She also thinks it’s nothing more than a fling. I think both Colton and Marina have lots of things to learn.

Marina has a sweet heart and she brings a lot of joy and light wherever she goes. I think that she is just bubbly and happy. Now, that doesn’t mean that she isn’t dealing with a shit ton of crap, because she is, but happy and joyful are her default setting, I think. I think that her father is a true asshole, especially when it comes to dismissing such a sweet young woman.

I think that Colton is a good man who lives a lot in his head. Of course his wolf is about this >< close to going completely off the rails, and he’s a little out of control because of that, but he spends a lot of time thinking about things, and about what he thinks is the best thing to do. I think that he should probably spend a little more time talking to Marina and seeing what she thinks is the best thing to do.

I can’t wait for the next one, because I’m pretty sure it’s going to be explosive.

waters-3123156_1920

That jerk is going to be a huge fucking problem, I know it.

OK, that’s all for this one. Go check it out! Happy reading!
