Folx, Sara rang 2021 in with a bang. Or two. Or three. Pet is an intense, dark romance, with pet play, all the filthy sex you can want, and a male main character that you can love to hate, and definitely love to love.

We start with Silas. He isn’t in one of the 5 Mafia Families in NYC, but he does have more power than they do. Nothing happens in NYC that he doesn’t know about, and he knows a lot more than the Families. For example, he know about the lost Genovese daughter. Her mother was the wife of the head of the Genovese Family. Her father wasn’t the head of the Genovese family. But, she’s the only heir. No one knows where she is though. Her mother had her, hid her away, and then was killed. And in the decades since, no one has been able to find her, and if anyone could’ve, it would’ve been Silas. He knows some things about her, like the fact that she has a star shaped birthmark on her neck.

So, he has a meeting with all the Families, trying to find out what they know. They are at an exclusive club, and all of a sudden a beautiful singer starts singing. She has a beautiful voice and she’s gorgeous, and then Silas gets a good look at her, and her birthmark.

Chloe has a dream. She wants to go to NYC and make it big as a singer. She’s been doing OK with it so far, and the gig tonight is a big one. It will definitely pay her rent for a while. But then some drunk asshole starts to heckle her. She manages to deal with him, but it’s the next guy, the really intimidating one, that is a lot harder to deal with. In fact, once she throws a drink in his face, things all of a sudden go sideways. Mostly because he jumps up on the stage, pulls up her skirt, pulls down her panties, and spanks her ass red in front of everyone.

Of course, you can guess who the guy is. He has plans for little Miss Chloe, and she might not like them. He mostly wants to keep her safe, and the easiest way for him to keep her safe is for him to claim her. And, well, he does claim his little kitten.

Silas is an interesting character. He is hard, and he knows pretty much everything about everything that happens, and he uses it to his advantage. I think that he has all kinds of motives for everything he does. And while he wants to claim Chloe, I think he also sees her as, well, maybe not an equal, but as a partner, at least at times. He has no problems punishing her as necessary, but he doesn’t shove her away from his business, so there’s that.

Chloe is really strong, and I think that Silas helps her with that, oddly enough, even if he wants her to obey him all the time. He wants the best for her, and it shows. He gives her a lot of space for her to grow and thrive too, which sounds odd, but it works.

I’m not joking when I say that this is filthy AF. There is sex, more sex, and did I mention sex? But Sara doesn’t skimp on the plot, so it all evens out well.

Sinistre Ange-His Pretty Kitty

Yay! Another Sinistre Ange story, which means we are into something kinky, dirty, and just obscene. And that describes His Pretty Kitty really well. HPK is part of Sinistre’s Planets Apart series. She hasn’t written a new one in this series for a while, so yay!

So, the way that this series works is that there are 4 prison planets, and each of the planets covers a different kink. So far, we’ve had hucows, age play, and now we have pet play. When someone gets caught breaking the law, they end up sentenced to a prison planet. While they are on the way out to the planets, the prisoners get to look at all the planets and decide which one they want. After they make their decision, it goes to a committee where each selection is either approved or argued over.

Katherine embezzled from her company for years. For part of that time, her crimes were blamed on someone else who was guilty of corporate espionage, but eventually it was discovered that nope, that person was innocent of stealing, and it was all Katherine. So, she got sentenced to spend the rest of her life on one of the prison planets. On the ship, she looks at all the planets and decides that she found the planet for her. She’s going to go be a pet. So, she goes up for auction, and is bought. Her new owner wants her to have kitty ears and kitten fur on her lower arms and legs, so she really looks more like a little kitten. And thus, Katherine becomes Kitty, and is owned by Dominic and his wife. And she has to share the household with their long time pup. Let’s just say hijinx ensue.

I fully admit that I didn’t always like Katherine in this book. She is really entitled in the beginning, IMO. She never really seems like she’s sorry for what she did or for what happened to that poor innocent guy. It kind of makes her hard to like at the very beginning, at least for me. There are times while she’s settling in that I don’t particularly care all that much for her either. I never totally dislike her, but don’t like her all that much, if you get the difference. And when she’s finally in the house, she keeps acting out and seems suprised. It’s not like she didn’t know what she was getting into, so I don’t know why she’s so surprised. Ok, well, maybe she didn’t know exactly what everything would be like, but I’m in the well, she made her bad, she gotta lay in it camp. I do think that she really deserves everything she gets and maybe a little more on that.

I know that I’m not talking about anyone else in the household, but I think that they really need to be discovered on your own. I will say that the book is primarily from Kitty’s POV, but we do get looks at everyone’s heads, so we get to know everyone. I liked it that way.

Golden Angel-The Lady

The Disney movie Lady and the Tramp has one of my favorite songs in it. I like the song that the evil Siamese kitties sing. “We are Siamese if you please, we are Siamese if you don’t please…” I think the song was replaced in the live action version, because it was problematical, but I fully support that. So, why am I mentioning this, other than just giving you more random trivia about the wonderfulness that is me? Well, that’s because Golden’s is a step beyond the live action movie, it’s a Regency era romance based off of the movie. And Disney realllllllly doesn’t want to know about this one. Well, maybe some of them do.

So, here we are, Lady Delilah Darling is in London for her Season. Her father died, and friends of his are her guardians for her season, and they dote on her and she’s just loving life, because, why not? She’s young, beautiful, and the world is at her feet. Except, nothing ever stays that way. Her guardian’s wife, Lady Greene, becomes pregnant, which is good, but she gets sick, which is bad. They have to retire to the country for her health. Delilah is going to be left in the care of Lady Felton, along with her two granddaughters, Amy and Silvia. And everything goes to hell. Lady Felton is awful and her granddaughters are cruel.

Then we have Henry Trampine, the Tramp. He runs several fine gambling hells, and makes good bank on it. He also owns the debt of many of the nobility, ton, and upper classes. No one really fucks with the Tramp, because he is really powerful. One day, he’s out with his boys, and they see a fine lady running through the warrens of London. The Warrens would be the really, really, really not good part of town. They had seen that same lady walking in Hyde Park a few weeks before, and she had gotten into his head, and he hadn’t been able to get her out of it. So, when she comes running into his territory and she gets into trouble, of course he has to rescue her.

I like Delilah’s joyfullness at the beginning of the book. She just glows with it and it seems like she just brings joy and delight to everyone around her. There’s just something about her, even when she’s having the hardest time with Lady Felton that still makes her something special. That something never goes away, really, it just becomes something different and, I think, better, maybe.

Henry is a very strong character. He knows what he wants, and he’s going to do everything he can to get what he wants, and he wants Delilah. And he doesn’t want her just as a one time thing, he wants her all the damn time, and he wants everything from her. He may technically be a criminal, but I think that he is really honorable, in his way. What he says he’s going to do, he does. I can respect that.

Measha Stone-The Mob Boss’ Pet

Measha has published another one of her lovely pet books. This one isn’t part of the series that she has, it’s a complete standalone. The Mob Boss’ Pet has all the wonderfulness of pet play and humiliation play that we expect to see out of Measha.

So, we start with Stephania who is going to her favorite coffee shop. She’s an ER doc and she needs her caffeine fix to make it through her day. When she gets there, the guy at the register seems really nervous and is staring at the only other people in the place. Stephania doesn’t seem all that upset about that, but I would’ve thought it was sketchy af, but I’m paranoid, sooo… Anyway, she eventually looks down and sees blood. Remember, ER doc, she knows exactly what blood looks like. That’s when she gets dragged into the kitchen, where she found a dead man in a puddle of blood on the floor and another man laying on a table, bleeding with 2 holes in his chest. She’s ordered to handle the injured man and keep him from bleeding out or dying.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, or more precisely his estate, we have Dominic. It’s his younger brother who was shot and his cousin who is dead. He rushes into his brother’s bedroom where he finds out that their other brother has locked the nice lady doctor in the basement. So, Dominic goes to get her and takes her into his brother’s room, so that she can continue to treat him. Stephania, of course, wants to be let go, but Dominic isn’t going to do that in any way, shape, or form. For one thing, his brother is hurt. For another, she knows too much now. When she does try to run away, he takes her into his room, strips her, and locks her into a cage.

I like Stephania. She’s strong and smart. She’s also stubborn af, which is both good and bad for her. It’s good because she really does need to have that tenacity at times. It’s bad because at other times, that stubbornness gets her into more problems than she would’ve been in otherwise. I can respect that, because I may or may not be stubborn myself. I think that she has a really caring heart and really wants to help people, especially Dominic.

Dominic. Hmmm… Well, I generally like him. With that said, he’s got his issues, like the fact that he has a brick wall 3 feet thick up around his heart. And I have to say that denial ain’t just a river in Egypt when it comes to certain things with Dominic. I think that he has a very good core, and he wants to make sure that his family are taken care of, and he love his family deeply, but he’s not ready to trust anyone, which makes him hard to deal with, I think. He’s bullheaded too, in a different way than Stephania is. I don’t think I can describe the difference, but it’s there.

Anthology-Black Light: Roulette War

We just had Valentine’s Day, which means it’s time for the annual Roulette book from Black Light. Black Light: Roulette War is the 4th Roulette book, and the start of a new Black Light season. The first two books took place at the only Black Light at the time, the original in DC. Last year’s book took place in Black Light West, and featured celebrities. This one takes place in both clubs.

Now, I was lucky enough to get to read an ARC, and I was so thrilled to read it. I mean, the Roulette books are always great and always kink AF. But do you know what those mean authors did? They didn’t tell us ARC readers who won! How mean is that? LOL. I mean, really, when it comes down to it, we’re the real winners, so I guess I can’t complain too much.

So, here’s how the story goes. Spencer, the DM for BL East, is at BL West with his wife, Klara. While they are there, Spencer decides to start some shit with Elijah, the DM at BL West. Now, we all know that shit-talking happens, especially among friends and co-workers, which Spencer and Elijah are. But sometimes it gets way out of control, which happened here. Spencer, who can get a little over sometimes, got a little over, and it escalated to the point where the guys are arguing over who is going to have the best ever Roulette. They finally get to a point where they place a bet on it, with Chase and Jaxon acting as judges. (Which pisses them off for reasons.)

We get the stories of 4 couples from each of the clubs. You can judge which one is the hottest for yourself, and which one you think should be the winner. Then you can find out which one the authors thought should win, andI’ll never tell. Ever.

Black Light East

Renee Rose-Prelude

Renee’s story is all about Ravil and Lucy, Master R and Lady Luck. He’s a member of the bratva, she’s a lawyer. She’s all about control, but she’s the sub today, and Ravil isn’t about to give her any control. The thing that I really liked about Renee’s story is that we get to see how much Ravil’s plan is to get inside Lucy’s head, and how quickly he does that. It’s like there is a trapdoor only he has. And it looks like Prelude is the perfect name for this one, and I’m really happy about that.

Eris Adderly-Breathless

This is Eris’ intro into the BL world, (other than the fact that all the covers are hers) and damn, did she hit the road running. Breath play really isn’t my kink at all, it’s a personal hard limit, but the way that Eris wrote about it? Holeeee fuck. And the latex with the gloves? Woooooowwwwww. Violet and Anson were one of my favorite characters.  That put everything over the top. Eris writes kink in such a good way. And she didn’t step back from Anson’s issues while she was writing him, and I thought that was interesting. (Also, can you find the Lit easter egg?)

Kay Elle Parker-Burn

Kay Elle s another newbie to BL. If you’ve followed the blog for a while, you’ve seen me review some of her stuff, and I’m absolutely in love with her books, so I was glad to see her here. I’m hoping that this means she’ll get to do a full book at some point. This is the story of Finn and Ava. I really adore Ava. She’s been through so much, but she was really strong, and Finn challenged her in just the right way. And the fisting and the trust? Wow.

Golden Angel-Inflamed

Golden wrote a full length BL Daddy book last year, and in that book we met Elliot. He gets to play with Lisa, who is excited to play with him, but he’s not all that excited to play with her. He thinks she’s manipulative. They have an incredibly hot scene. And by hot, I mean seriously hot. He sets her on fire. Fire flogging is a thing. Fantastic. I thought the way that Lisa chose her hard limits was hilarious. One of their scenes is something that lives in my head, so yeah, that was so hot.

Black Light West

And now, just as the event at Black Light East is ending, we’re gearing up for Black Light West to get started.

Jennifer Bene-Wicked

Jennifer is one of the original BL writers and is a total staple in Roulette. Her story gives us Pierce and Baby, whose real name is Tori. Tori is a little and Pierce is totally not a Daddy. He’s pretty fucking hardcore, and he really loves humiliation, so the fact that they rolled that works for him. I’m telling you, Roulette makes for interesting play partners and scenes. That scene is hot, but the face fucking that happens is just amazing. I always look forward to Jennifer’s stories because of the touches like that.

Sue Lyndon-Trained

Sue wrote a fun little story with Daddy Xavier and his Dolly, Rachel. Their first roll was pet play, and she made an adorable kitten. You know, one of the things I really liked about Sue’s story is that it is very sweet and it is truly lovely. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still sexy AF and Rachel and Xavier have a great connection, it’s just also low angst and low drama, just the perfect touch for the book.

Measha Stone-Unexpected

Measha’s story has Jack and Quinn. Quinn is new to LA and is looking for new people to play with, so Roulette. Where she gets Jack, and oh yeah, diaper play. Which is totally not what she wants. Jack is actually perfect for her. I love how he gets into her head so much and how she teaches Quinn so much about herself.

Livia Grant-Facade

Livia finishes out this year’s Roulette with her story about Sean and Stephanie AKA Karly Starr, former porn star. Stephanie has come to Black Light because she wants someone who will fuck her silly, without playing any of those silly BDSM games, but she signed up for Roulette, and Sean is going to make her play. These are two words I never thought that I would say on this blog: spontaneous fisting. And the breath play? Siiiiiigggghhhhh. I think that Facade is a really great title for this one.

OK, there you go. Eight fantastically kinky stories by 8 fantastic authors. When you read the book and get to find out who the winner is, you get some great 3 way sex with Emma, Jax, and Chase. Yay!

I’m already looking forward to next year’s Roulette, a whole year from now. I’d love to see an Mm, Fm, or Ff couple in the upcoming season some time, but I’ll be perfectly happy however the authors end up writing their books, so it’s all good.

Alta Hensley-Caged

Alta wasn’t happy with just one surprise release in the past few days. She had to come out with two! Caged is a fun, filthy, dark, little Mafia tale, involving, guess what? That’s right, cages!

We start out at a funeral with Nayla. One of her co-workers has been killed in the line of duty of taking out one of the big Mafia families. And of course, one of those two families decides to interrupt the funeral with a little gunplay, because what funeral doesn’t need a whole lot of people getting shot. Nayla is lucky enough to survive it.

She’s a prosecutor who is after one of those two families. She has pix of the head of the family, Eddie, on her apartment’s wall because it is supposed to help her focus on her job. She stares at him a whooooole lot. I mean, like a lot a lot. Then, one day, she meets the real thing. In her apartment. Who has come to take her away. Yeah.

Meanwhile, Eddie has decided that he’s going to take Nayla. He has his reasons to do it, and he kinda doesn’t care what she has to say about it. He’s going to do what he wants.

There is a lot of fun and filthy filthy filth in this. And I love it, a lot. A lot a lot. There’s just something about the way that Eddie treats Nayla that is so twisted and kinky and hot like burning.

Overall, I really like Eddie. You wouldn’t know that he was the head of a Mafia family unless you knew that he was the head of a Mafia family. He seems like such a good man. OK, I’m not saying you can’t be a good man and a crime lord, but you get what I mean, right? Anyway, he is definitely honorable, and has very definite ideas.

I liked Nayla too. With that said, I thought that there were times that she was a little naive. I dunno, naive might not quite be the word, but I think that’s the closest that I can come to it. She’s willing to believe the good in people who might not have that good. I think that she might also have a little bit of a black and white view on life.

Measha Stone-Training His Pet

This weekend, Measha decided to put a surprise release out. Training His Pet is the 6th book in her Owned and Protected series. This can be read as a standalone, but it is part of an interconnected series. All the heroes of the books know each other.

So, Dax was in the military. When he left he went home to Chicago and opened a club with his younger brother, Corbin. Corbin is the public face of the club, while Dax handles the security. Dax and Corbin are often at odds because Corbin is getting a little too close to a Mob family, and Dax wants to keep them out of the club altogether. On one fateful evening, Jimmy and his family are in a private room, and a journalist is trying to get into the private room. Dax sends her home and breaks up a fight.

Erika is a journalist who has been chasing after a huge story about a large crime family. She wants to have her own byline, and a story about the Mob should get her that byline. She finally gets into Velvet, a club where she knows she can find out more, but then one of the owners kicks her out. She sneaks around behind the club, just in time to see the same guy kick out some other people and to see a beat down happen.

Suddenly, Corbin calls Dax and tells him that Jimmy the Mobster is after Erika, and he needs to take her somewhere safe until the heat is off.

I really like Dax. I mean, there are a lot of times when I don’t like the hero part of the time, but except for one really stupid moment, I do like Dax. He’s dependable, steady, sturdy, protective, and incredibly loyal. He wants to make sure that anyone he thinks of as his is safe, and he will do whatever he can to do that. He does have a bit of a blind spot when it comes to his brother, but don’t we all have a blind spot like that somewhere? The thing is, though, that he’s willing to listen to other people and not just deny everything.

I like Erika. I think that she is very goal oriented and she’s one of those people who has a plan and who wants to make her goals come true. I think, though, that she sometimes lets that focus distract her or blind her from other things. I think that chasing the story is like an addiction for her. I get her wanting to get her name on a column and getting further in her career, but I just think that she has learned how to make that her drug.

And being a Measha book and one in the Owned and Protected series, you can be sure that there is all kinds of kinkery fuckery going on in it, because, well, there is allllllll kinds of kinkery fuckery. And because it’s one of the Pet books, I bet you can guess what flavor all that kinkery takes. And fucking hell, it’s hot AF.

Aria Adams-Alpha’s Kitty

From the far distant future, we are getting a new book from Aria Adams, Alpha’s Kitty. Sorry for the lack of buy link, for some reason, Amazon is so stupid right now. Hopefully, it will be up soon. We all know how they are, though. It’s supposed to be in KU, which means it’s exclusive to Zon, but if it gets offered anywhere else, I’ll make sure to update.

Anyway, Aria Adams is the dark pen name to Katie Douglas. Katie gives us sweet age play stories. Aria gives us pet play in space. And that’s what we have here.

So, thousands of years ago, humanity left Earth and went to various planets. Before that happened, there was some genetic modification happened, like splicing animal DNA and human DNA. The various subspecies all went to their own planets, and in the intervening years, the subspecies have grown very different to the main species. They are still human enough to interbreed, but they also have the characteristics of the animal. For example, kitties girls are just like your pet kitty, down to ears, tail, and fur. The bipedals who run the universe take all the various subspecies as pets/slaves.

Our little kitten has been told by her mama that it’s time for her and her sisters to go to their owners, where, if they are good kittens, they will have someone who loves them and adores them and treats them wonderfully, but bad kittens go to the bad places, so don’t be bad. But when her charcoal colored sister starts to freak out, our orange kitten knows that her sister couldn’t handle being in the bad place, so she takes the blame, and later, the punishment.

Hervé is the Alpha of his planet. He has always wanted to have a kitten of his very own, so he has sent his assistant Bertrand out to get one for him, and he comes home with our poor little orange kitten, who still has no name. When he finally sees her, he decides that he will call her Kitty. Which could, you know, be a name. Or it could just be an unimaginative name for a cat. You’ll have to figure out which way he meant it, because I don’t think that he is sure which way he means it. Anyhow, Hervé decided he wanted a kitten, and now he has a kitten of his very own that he can train and play with, however he wants.

I found the whole bipedal/pet breakdown to be fascinating. We can’t tell what it is like on other planets, since we only really see this one planet, but the masters aren’t nice at all to their pets/slaves. Even the nice ones aren’t necessarily nice, and the not nice ones are… Well, you’ll see. The bipedals all believe that the pets are subhuman and barely sentient, and need to be controlled. And because the people in charge believe that, so do the various subspecies.

The book is mostly in Kitty’s POV, which means we get a really strong sense of her journey in this book, and how she changes from the beginning to the end. We also get to see how she changes Hervé. I think that she makes him a much better man by the end. It’s definitely a journey to watch.

Measha Stone-Redemption

OK, yeah, I know I promised double for today, but I got involved in a gazillion things, and when I sat down to write this, I noticed it would be too late to write another one. So, today you get Measha, tomorrow you get Sansa, Friday you get Measha, and Saturday you get Sara.

But today, Redemption, Measha’s sweet, light, and laughter filled Christmas story. And if you believe that, I’ve got a bridge to sell you in the Atacama. LOL. It’s darkish, dirty, and full of Measha-y goodness. And it’s the perfect amuse bouche for her book on Friday, trust me.

Celeste is on the Naughty List, in a big way. And if she doesn’t get cleared off it, she’s going to end up stuck there permanently, and then there will be an empty voice in her life and she will never be happy. But Santa, being a good, kind, and loving Santa, has people who are there to help with that. He has special elves whose only job it is to get people off the naughty list and get them back on the Nice List. Adam is one such elf.

Adam’s job, should he choose to accept it, and he does, is to take Celeste, and help her. He needs to get her off the Naughty List and get her to understand what she did that caused her to be there. So he goes off to meet Celeste, at a bar, where she’s busy drinking because she’s pretty sure that she’s going to be fired the next day. He escorts her out of the bar, and the next thing she knows, she’s naked and in a stable. Seems like Adam may be a little bit kinky.

I love how Adam doesn’t let Celeste get away with anything, no matter what she tries. He’s doing it out of such a place of caring with her. He truly wants her to be happy and he’s willing to do whatever he has to to make sure that happens, even if that means he’s going to have to strap her ass raw. And that may just be one of his options. I had a harder time with Celeste. But, that’s because of personal things on my end, not her as a character. Some of her choices are things that people close to me have done and it was really hurtful to the people involved and took a lot of work to get things straightened out. So, looking at it as me, I had a hard time with her because of that. Once I could get away from her actions and into her as a person, it was easier for me to like her.

Felicity Brandon-Taken

So, in Taken, Felicity has decided to go all meta on us. I loved it. One warning, it is a serial, but the next 2 parts will be out in December and January, so Felicity isn’t going to be all that sadistic towards us. Just a little bit sadistic.

Molly Clary is an author. She’s an author who writes capture fantasy books, along with noncon/dubcon, objectification, and pet play aspects. She’s tremendously popular. So, she does as many authors do, and sets up readers’ groups on social media where she can connect with her readers and goes to signings. Her latest signing is in London, which is really far away from her home in Pennsylvania.

As she’s packing up to go back to her hotel at the end of her signing, a beautiful man comes up and asks her if it’s too late for him to get a book signed. When Molly tells him that it’s fine, he hands her a book called Amelie’s Abduction, and she signs it to Connor Reilly, a self-professed superfan.

When Molly leaves, she ends up wandering the streets of London around where the signing was so that she can find her car. Instead, what she finds is trouble. A pack of young men tries to attack her, but then Connor comes to her rescue. But only for so far. He ends up abducting her and taking her to his house, where he ties her down and chains her. And oh yeah, forces her to write their story. (See, that’s where it gets all meta)

So yes, not only has she been captured and is being held by Connor, she has to write all about it, because he is her biggest fan.

OK, this one is ridiculously hot and filthy, and it may have one of my new favorite scenes ever in it. And I say this admitting that Felicity has one of my favorite scenes ever in one of her Viking books. We get both Connor’s and Molly’s POV, but sometimes it seems to really blend together, so there are times when it seems like you are in both of their heads at the same time. There are times when it is very distinct. It works really well here. I wouldn’t suggest it for everyone or in every book, but like I said, it really did work here.

I loved watching all of the struggles and confusion that goes on in Molly’s head. It’s fascinating to see her go through trying to figure out what she should do at any given point and how she feels at any point in time. I would love to see what she’s writing, because I think that it would be a great window into her mind and how she’s feeling, even more than her POV in the book. Does that make sense? It makes sense to me, but you know how it is. Things we think make sense don’t always. I just think that seeing how she processed it through her writing would deepen our understanding of her. I also wonder what Connor thinks of her writings.

Ok, not so many spoilers here as much as a I love the fucking end of this story. I mean, WTF. I can’t wait to read it. And fucking hell, what a cliffie.
