Lee Savino & Lili Zander-Draekon Guardian

Oh, I’m so sad. This is the last of the Drakeon books. Well, the authors have promised us an extended epilogue kind of thing sometime this year, but still, no more books with the smexy dragons, and I love the smexy dragons. So, let’s talk about Draekon Guardian, shall we?

Yafet was known as Sixth, back when he was one of the original Draekon. Now, along with most of his brothers, he’s helping the rebellion and trying to fight their other brother, First, who is more than a little bat shit crazy. Yafet was sent after a couple of humans to rescue them. He brought them both back, but one of them, Liz, was his mate. He’s been trying to put off mating her and staying away from her. It worked really well for a while because he was busy trying to cure a plague. But now, it’s getting harder and harder. He knows that he shouldn’t do anything with her, and the thought that First might get his hands on her is just scary AF. He’s still working with all the medical researchers trying to cure the plague that First has created, because they know that he is going to deploy it again at some point.

Liz knows that she’s attracted to Yafet, but he never comes around her. She just stays in her room, never leaves, and is just terribly depressed, which really, I don’t blame her for. Her roommate manages to pull her out of it and takes her to a market. As a chef and cookbook writer, taking her to a huge market where she can find all kinds of food is the perfect thing for Liz. But, they run into problems at the market, and all her food gets left in a locker. Until it turns out that the food turns up in her apartment along with a new cooking unit.

Liz is dealing with some depression, and frankly, I don’t blame her one little bit. I would definitely be dealing with some serious mental health issues at that point too. Her whole world has changed and trying to deal with everything was just a lot. I think that she is really smart and creative though, and once she finds something to latch on to, then she’s better. And that’s something that she actually did on her own, mostly. I thought that was great for her and her own mental health, and her self-esteem. I think that she is also really fierce and she’s not going to let anyone mess with her, if she can avoid it, at least.

Yafet is definitely a good man. Dragon. Whatever. He has a huge streak of responsibility in him, and he can’t really cut himself any slack. He works really hard so that he can find the cure for this plague and he kind of blames himself. Which, it’s understandable why he does blame himself, even though neither he or any of his brothers have anything to blame themselves for. They were put into a fucking horrible situation by their creator, and the rebels didn’t make a lot of it easier when they first came out of stasis, but the rebels did at least straighten up. I think that he’s really smart and caring. I think that he’s also a little bit stupid. At least when it comes to relationships he is. But, don’t worry, Liz has some lessons for him.

Lili Zander & Lee Savino-Draekon Warlord

It’s been a while since Lee and Lili gave us a new Drakeon book, but here we are with Draekon Warlord. We’re with Fifth of the Crimson Force and his story, along with Naomi, one of the human women he saved.

So, Naomi was tortured by the Zorhan scientists. She has some serious PTSD issues. Fifth, Danek, saved her. He killed the scientists and sat with Naomi while she was healing. He’s been there for her. Naomi has been very glad of that. But at 61 days after being rescued, she’s still stuck where she’s at. She leaves her apartment to go to therapy, to go running, and that’s it. On the day that she decides that 61 days has been too long, she leaves her apartment, and as she’s walking down the hall, she hears Danek being asked to do a mission. She walks into his apartment, and somehow ends up as part of the mission. It’s not easy though, especially as there is an alert one night before they have to leave and the sirens and the scientist coming to make sure that she evacuates trigger a massive PTSD event. She worries that she’s a liability, especially since Danek seems to think that she’s too weak and a liability and that she’s going to cause the mission to fail.

Meanwhile, we have Danek. He knows that Naomi is his mate, and it’s not that he thinks she’s too weak. It’s that she’s his mate and he doesn’t want to put her in danger. He does worry about how well she can cope, but that’s because he saw where she was when he rescued her, and that kind of got stuck in his head. Because he’s so protective, it’s easy for him to do that, so when he gets tricked into taking her on his mission, he does actually tell her that he thinks that she can’t do it. Which of course, Naomi doesn’t take very well.

The resilience that Naomi shows is amazing. It isn’t easy to handle trauma of any sort, and her was on the more severe end, and the fact that she was able to come through as well as she did just shows how strong she is. (Note, I am not saying anyone who has issues coming through with their trauma or deals with it differently is weak, because that is so far from the truth.) I think that she will probably always have to deal with certain triggers, because that’s the way that PTSD and healing from trauma works. I like the fact that she knows that she can handle it and that she will be ready for her life. I really respect that. I was so happy to see her happiness, humor, and her sassiness come out.

Danek has a huge streak of guilt, and I understand why he does. I think that adds some to his overprotectiveness when it comes to Naomi. And of course, seeing her the way that she was when he rescued her doesn’t help. He’s always going to go to the fear place for her. I think that things she did in this one will help him handle it better.

Lili Zander & Lee Savino- Draekon Pirate

Lili and Lee have come out with the 3rd book in their Draekon spinoff, with Draekon Pirate. These books are the ones about the original Draekons. They don’t mate in pairs, they are one on one. This is the story of Fourth and Diana.

So, Diana, and her friend Lisa, were two of the human women who had been stolen away. But instead of being tortured like all the other women we’ve seen so far, Diana and Lisa have actually been thriving. That’s because they were saved by some pirates. In the months since they were rescued, Diana has worked herself up to second in command of the ship, and Lisa is part of the bridge crew. They are happy, and they have discovered a family.

Fourth, like most of his brothers, has been sent to rescue the human women that were kidnapped. So, he pulls up to this pirate ship, disables it, walks on to it, and almost gets hit by a thrown knife that he barely catches. That’s when he finds out that the women really don’t want to leave. They are perfectly happy.

BTW? Diana is really good at throwing knives. Like scary good. She grew up in the backwoods, way off the grid. So far off the grid that those prepper nutcases are like dayum. Her father taught her how to hunt and survive, which has really helped her.

Anyway, so Fourth, who has renamed himself Mirak, is fascinated by Diana. There’s just something about her that makes him want to know more about her. And it didn’t hurt that she tried to knife him the first time she met him. And Diana can’t get Mirak out of her mind either. (I originally had mound there, which works too.)

I think that Diana is a lot of fun. There’s just something about her that I really like. She has her own serious issues, mostly spawning from the way that she grew up and the way that the adults in her family treated her, but she’s also incredibly competent, smart, strategic, and just fierce. I think that she really blossomed on the pirate ship. It really was the perfect thing for her.

Mirak really needed to figure out who he was after waking back up. I think that he was really kind of lost after waking back up and was a little bit scared of everything, even if he wasn’t going to admit to being scared of anything. Because, you know, big scary dragon.

Lili Zander & Lee Savino-Draekon Conqueror

So, today we’re back to Lili and Lee’s Draekon world. Remember, these new books aren’t about the Draekons on the prison planet that we all know and love, and who come in pairs. These guys are the OG Draekon. The first Draekon ever to walk the universe. And they don’t need to mate in pairs. So, with that said, let’s talk about Draekon Conqueror.

Ruhan, AKA Third, found the first of the humans he was supposed to find, Amanda, and mailed her back to the rebellion, and yes, I mean that quite literally. He stuck her in a stasis pod and mailed her. But that left him free to go hunt down Lani, the other human. The two women had been together until pirates struck and the scientists who were torturing them managed to save only Amanda, leaving Lani to the pirates. They were planning on eating her, until she found out that they love storytellers. So, Lani played Scheherazade to the pirate captain, and she has survived for several weeks now. But, it’s getting close. His first mate has suggested that the captain could chop off her leg and still hear her tales.

Ruhan has signed on with the pirate ship as a mechanic. He knows that Lani is there, he just has to get her off the ship. His plan is to go in and grab her, go to an escape pod, and then take the two of them, plus his tech bot, which looks like a dog sized spider, Blue, back to his ship, on another planet. So, of course, when he goes to check on the escape pods, they are in terrible shape. So, Ruhan and Blue spend their night working on the escape pod so that when they get a chance to escape, they can. And seriously, it’s a good idea, because as soon as he gets the pod fixed, they get attacked. So, he goes and grabs Lani, and it turns out that the ship’s cook is also a Draekon, and they take him with him.

All goes well, until they get shot down over the nearest inhabited planet, and it turns out to be one that Ruhan devastated back in the day. So, whoops?

I really like Ruhan. I love his sassy, flirty attitude. He turns everything into a joke and doesn’t seem like he’s all that serious, which could probably get really annoying really fast, but the fact is, he is really serious, down deep. He’s a really good character, and I really like him a lot. That mix of flirt and sincerity is just a fun mix, and one that I really dig because I’m kinda like that too, at least at times. I love how he is so devoted to tech, and you might think that he does that so he doesn’t have to people, but he does really connect with people. I think that Blue is just so sweet too, and I think that I need more of him.

Lani is strong, brave, and very clever. I don’t know how she fell upon the idea to act like Scheherazade, but it obviously worked really well. I love how devoted she is to Ruhan, even before anything starts up with them, she just wants to be with him. She could really be traumatized by what happened, but the fact is that she is as adjusted as she is, and as enthusiastic as she is. I think that she and Ruhan are really perfect for each other.

I can’t wait for the next one. I need it now.

Lili Zander & Lee Savino-Draekon Warrior

So, Draekon Warrior is set in Lee and Lili’s Draekon world, but it isn’t a prison planet story. We’ve mated off all those women, and now we’ve moved to the rebellion part of the story. It turns out that another ship left Earth with another 10 women. And this is going to be their series.

Alice was one of those women. Instead of going to the fabulous alien planet she was supposed to go with her 9 friends, she ended up as a prisoner of evil Zorahn scientists. The women had been broken into pairs and spread through the universe. Alice ended up with Tanya, being tortured daily for 7 months. Alice kept fighting and fighting, even though fighting means that she gets beat and hurt even worse. Tonya, meanwhile, has pretty much completely shut down altogether, and is just going through the motions and listening to what the scientists tell her to do. It doesn’t save her from being tortured, but it does keep her from getting beat as much as Alice does. One day, the routine changes. Alice and Tonya are sold, drugged, and dragged away.

The rebellion has heard about these human women who have been stolen away, and they are determined to rescue all ten of the women. They have a secret weapon. Well, make that 5 secret weapons. They are Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth. They are 5 of the first 6 original Draekon. Not just, you know, early generations, but numbers 2-6 of the original creation. They were born and bred to be warriors. They are big, smart, vicious, cold-blooded killers. They have also been kept in stasis for a thousand years. The stasis tubes were found by archeologists and the rebels claimed them. So Rahit’vi and the rest of the powers that be in the rebellion decide to wake up our guys so that they can go find the women. So, each of the guys goes off to find a pair of women.

Second is sent after Alice and Tonya. But Second has a secret that no one else knows. He named himself. Kadir ab Usora, Warrior born from the Light. None of the 6 were given names, and if anyone found out that he had named himself, he would’ve been severely punished. He has never told anyone his name, not even his brothers. At least, no one until he meets Alice when he rescuing her, and she punches him in the jaw, breaking her wrist. But Kadir was impressed.

I really like the story here. I mean we’re getting a lot of adventure in this one. We’re also learning new things about the Draekon. I mean, we thought we knew all about them, but these guys are changing all the rules. For one thing, they aren’t mating in pairs. For another, they don’t have to wait to mate to be able to switch to dragon form.

One thing I really like about Alice is that she always sees Kadir. She never sees him as Second. He is always Kadir and she sees the truth of him. Everyone tries to tell her that he’s a crazy, crazed killer and he’s on the edge and very possibly suicidal. But none of them have really spent more than just about 2 seconds with Second, which means they haven’t taken the chance to know him. And the rebels forced our guys to go out and search for humans by injecting them with a long acting poison. Which, you know, kinda makes them no better than a lot of the other people who have been around. That means a whole lot to Kadir. There’s never been anyone who has done that for him.

Kadir really is a good guy. He’s got a really good heart and is incredibly honorable. He feels a lot of responsibility. I really like him a lot.

Lee Savino & Lili Zander-Draekcon Holiday

Warning, this is not a standalone. It’s basically a slice of life, just a quick check in on everyone on the Prison Planet and how they are doing. If you haven’t read Draekon Rogue yet, go out and read it, and then come back and read Draekon Holiday.

Now that everything has shaken out with the Zorahn, the human women and their Draekon mates are trying to figure out what’s going on. With the beings in the hidden city being so technologically advanced, no one is trapped on the planet anymore. They have figured out ways to get in and out past the asteroid belt, so the women could go back to earth or they could all go out and explore. Or, they could stay on the Prison Planet and raise their families and be happy.

There are all kinds of choices, depending on which triad you are talking to. Each one has their reasons for making the choice that they do, and they all make sense for that particular group.

Before anything happens though, the ladies are going to get together for one last happy hour, and to celebrate Christmas. Well, a day that they have designated as Christmas. I laughed my ass off at the ladies trying to explain Santa Claus to their mates, and how overly protective their mates were. I’m pretty sure that Santa is going to want to avoid that planet as much as he possibly can. He might not make it off the planet to deliver to all the good girls and boys. I wonder if it’s going to be possible to come up with a Draekon friendly version of Santa for the hybrid kids.

This was a lovely little Christmas story, even if it wasn’t exactly Christmas. My one worry is that it seems like it could be the end of the series, but I really hope it isn’t. There are still stories that we haven’t heard from the Prison Planet yet, and there are going to be so many more now that they can get out and start exploring. I hope Lili and Lee aren’t done with the series, even if they aren’t all on the Prison Planet.

Speaking of Christmas, I will have a post on Christmas Eve. I’ll be reviewing a series from Claire Thompson. I won’t be posting anything for Christmas. I’m going to be spending that day reading, visiting my mom, and playing cards. And probably sleeping.

Lili Zander and Lee Savino-Draekon Fever

After an eventful spring filled with lawsuits and new babies, Lili Zander and Lee Savino have been able to get back to the prison planet and bring us a new story to love with Draekon Fever.

So, our major players are Ferix, Rorix, and Sofia. The guys were two of the guys in the drop with Arax, and rescued Sofia and Harper, among others. What Sofia doesn’t know is that right after they saw her, Ferix and Rorix had to run away and turn into dragons. She was their fated mate. However, they didn’t want to completely overwhelm her, so they decided that they would wait a few days and let her settle in. Except there was another problem. The male who caused the crash that stranded the humans on the prison planet is distantly related to them. By law, that makes them as culpable as he is and they can’t benefit from his crime. That means that they can’t claim Sofia as their mate, no matter what their inner dragons and their hearts want. So they end up with a mating fever.

Sofia is a doctor. She worked really hard to get where she is. She’s attracted to and flirted with Ferix and Rorix, but suddenly they turned cold on her. She’s a virgin and she figures that she’s just going to be a virgin forever, because she can’t even give it away on the prison planet. When she finds out they are sick, Sofia knows that she has to go and try to make Ferix and Rorix better. It’s not just because she’s a healer, it’s because she’s still obsessed with them.

When Ferix and Rorix discover how far into their mating fever they are, they know that they are going to have to leave before they completely lose control of their dragons, and grab Sofia and drag her away, so they run. Only once it’s been discovered that they ran, right as the Zorahn invade their prison planet, does Sofia find out that they are her mates, and she’s damned if she’s going to just let them die.

I love the fact that the virgin isn’t the sacrifice to the dragons like you often see in fairy tales, instead, she’s the hero of the story. She’s strong, smart, fiesty, and will take no shit from anyone, no matter who they are. She believes what she’s doing and she believes in her mates. Dariux is really interesting in this book. He’s really interesting and very, very tricksy. It’s like he knows things because he put them in place. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

I love how the commander at the hidden city got what he wanted and didn’t have to outright defy any orders. That was smart and tricky. I have a feeling that we are going to need to have that quality coming up.

Bryce’s story looks to be really interesting, after everything that has happened in this one. I can’t wait to see what Rahit’vi is going to do right now. I think everything hinges on her and her actions.

Lili Zander & Lee Savino-Draekon Destiny

Lili Zander and Lee Savino have taken us back to the Prison Planet with everyone’s favorite exiles. Today, we have a date with destiny with Draekon Destiny.

OK, hopefully by now we all remember the backstory for the Draekon books. A bunch of human women crash-landed on the planet where the Zorahn send the Draekon for exile. When two Draekon see the woman that they are fated to mate with in a triad, the guys turn into dragons. Once they have completed the mating, the guys can shift whenever.

The stories all feature one particular trio, but they are part of a larger story arc. You could read them as a standalone if you wanted to, but you won’t get as much out of them as you would if you were to read them in order.

So far, all the books we’ve read look at the run up to the mating and finding the HEA. Destiny is different. Instead of looking at a relationship building to an HEA, we find out what happens when the HEA isn’t forever and the relationship breaks.

Our poor Felicity. She’s had a very shitty time of it so far. Her mother died when she was young and her father couldn’t hack it as a parent. So he dumped her off with her aunt, uncle, and cousin. They only saw her as free labor and her cousin actively made Felicity’s life miserable. When she was chosen to go to a new planet, she thought that her life would be better. Then she crashed on the prison planet. That’s where Xan and Lud come into the story. They courted her and wooed her and she thought she had her HEA. Then everything went pear-shaped.

The bad guys got ahold of the pieces they needed for the cloak ship, but they needed someone to pilot it. Because of the asteroid belt around the planet, they needed someone with Draekon reflexes, which means they needed someone mated. Those assholes knew that Lud had a secret and that he had been looking for a communicator. They blackmailed him into helping them and being their pilot so they could all get off the planet. They were fine with Xan going, but since they were assholes, they weren’t about to let Felicity go with. When Felicity finds out what’s going on, she discovers that her guys told the bad guys that they were going to leave with them, and leave her there.

Now, remember, she’s been abandoned and used her entire life, so she’s devastated. These two aliens who have taken over her heart have just used her to become dragons and are now leaving.

We see a lot of this in flashback. Then we also have what’s happening currently. It’s an interesting way to do it, and we can see how each thing that happened affected each of our main characters. Writing different POVs can be hard and then writing those different POVs in present time and flashback must be even harder. Lili and Lee did a really good job of it. I’m really looking forward to seeing how the things we found out in this book are going to impact the things in the next books.

I couldn’t take sides at all in this one. Everyone was hurting and they were all hurting each other without even meaning to. I think this book is going to be my favorite in the story. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’ve loved all of them, and I love building up to the HEA, but I also like finding out what happens after what the HEA was supposed to be and when things get broken.

I can’t wait to find out more about the big find and to see if they are going to find Rahit’vi. Looks like it’s going to be great.

Alien Alphas Part 1

Alien Alphas is an anthology with 23 authors. That means that I’m going to be reviewing a lot of them. If I blogged all of them in one blog, I would get bored and so would you. I endeavor to not bore myself, and I figure if I’m bored, you’re bored. See how that works? Anyway, I’m breaking it into 2 pieces. This first blog will have all the ARCs I got for this one. The second one will be all the other stories which made me go wow. Of all 23 authors in this book, I’ve read all but two of them, so I was really excited to get this one. I was practically drooling over the book when I got it. So, here we go.

Strangeways by Addison Cain 5*

Of all the things that I have to blame Addison Cain for, turning me onto some tentacle porn is one of the weirdest. Or maybe it’s a combo between Addison and Cari Silverwood, whichever, it doesn’t matter, this story was hot. I really enjoyed it and the twists are twisty. I’m hoping that Addison gives us some more out of this universe. Well, after Consumed, and Irdesi Empire, and Alpha’s Control and a surprise that she keeps teasing us about.

But yeah, the sex in this story? Completely out of the galaxy. What girl doesn’t want to get with a cock that can do all the things that Phi’s equipment can do? That bitch Emily is lucky. Well, maybe lucky, but she’s still getting the good dick. I love the whole basis of this story and think that it is an interesting way to do what Phi and his brethern are trying to do.

You may think that you may not have an interest in tentacles, but really, this story will change your mind and make a believer out of you.

Finding Sitra by Jane Henry 4.5*

OK, first thing I have to say about this story? I love the title. It’s my kind of wordplay. It can be taken in so many, many, many different ways, and once you read it, you’ll see what I mean. (Seriously, go buy this book right now. It’s only 99 pennies, what can go wrong?)

What do you do when you are a big bad space soldier and you go to a brothel only to find out that your dead best friend’s baby sister is the prostitute that you just rented? Well, you tie her down and spank her, of course! What happens when that brothel gets the shit bombed out of it? You end up with Cy and Sitra’s story.

They get their HEA, which is wonderful, but it’s not an easy thing for either of them. They both have a lot of baggage that they have to deal with, which makes it even more satisfying when they get together. So, yay for them, and yay for Jane!

Sold to the Enemies by Sara Fields 4*

Sara Fields brings us into a whole new scifi world for her offering and I will gladly follow Sara anywhere she wants to go, please and thank you. 🙂

Aubrie was the leader of Earth’s space forces, right up until she went and attacked a much more technologically advanced force. She may have killed some of them, but her forces were devastated. The men were killed and the women were taken prisoner and dragged off by slavers. She was on the dais being sold when Edogan sees her and decides to buy her himself. After all, as the commander of the forces she attacked, he’s well within his rights to take her and punish her.

One of the things that I like about Edogan is that he’s secure enough as an Alpha to let Aubrie be the strong person she is. he also takes the time to help her figure out what’s going on with her life.

And this is what my head Aubrie looks like, mostly because I think Starbuck is very cool. So, please, let me have this without harshing it, OK?

Fated Possession by Cari Silverwood 5*

My Cari Silverwood collection is well up into double digits. I think it’s at nearly 20. I’d have to go look. But there’s a really good reason for that. If you’ve read anything of hers, and if you haven’t why not?, you’ll understand.

This story takes place in her Machinery of Desire series. You don’t have to read the series to understand what’s going on in the story, but it does help. It happens at roughly the same time that the last book in that series happens, but doesn’t connect up with that story.

Blue is one of the humans who has been abducted and dragged to Aerthe for one thing. Her blood. Human blood has something that the Mekkers need. When she escapes, she gets caught by Scavs. Sassik is passing by and sees her and sees what’s about to happen to her and decides that he’s going to buy her. Of course, his plan is to buy long enough to find a good owner for her.

This is one of those series that I want the next book as soon as I finish the last book, so having this story to tide me over and give me another look into this world is great.

Drakeon Rescue by Lee Savino and Lili Zander 4*

Dragons are cool. I love dragons. You love dragons. Everyone loves dragons. Flying and breathing fire, I mean, what more do you really need? So, of course my love extends out to Draekons, Lee and Lili’s alien dragon shifters.

A few months ago, Zorhans landed on Earth and gave the humans some miraculous cures. They also took 10 women back with them. Now, on the worst. day. ever. Dor gets abducted by a spaceship and dragged away.

Tin is a Draekon who has spent a year trapped in hell by evil scientists. They are testing to try to find his mate. Cro is his best friend who isn’t about to give up on finding Tin and rescuing him. When Dor gets taken to the evil scientists’ lair, she’s placed with Tin, and Cro shows up with perfect timing.

The Draekon guys are awesome. They are uber-protective and they are also willing to let Dor do what she is good at without smothering her. While this story does take place during the rest of the Draekon books, it doesn’t connect up with them in any way, shape, or form.

Remind me never to break a contract anywhere where Jaye can see me. Or maybe, remind me to do that, if she’ll arrange someone like Brax to come get me, because damn. This story gave me the screaming thigh sweats. I mean, dayum. This story is pretty heavy on the BDSM and sex aspects, so be aware of that, and prepare appropriately.

Brax is an extraction specialist. He gets a contract and goes in and extracts women from suboptimal situations, then takes them back to his facility and rehabilitates them. Kleo’s guardian has contacted Brax to go extract Kleo from another planet, rehabilitate her (read make her submissive again), and bring her back. Kleo ran away because she doesn’t like her “guardian’s” plans for her. I wouldn’t either. What no one told Brax is that she’s a human who has been trained with some very particular skills. Skills that affect her rehab.

Brax is a super intense alpha. And dayum, his junk? Yeah, he’s got some good junk going on. I love how cherished he makes Kleo feel and how he changes how she feels about herself.

Her Zandian Masters by Renee Rose. 5*

Horny, purple, horned aliens. The don’t have one eye, they don’t fly unless they are in a flying ship, but they do eat women. (Snerk) I love the Zandian universe. A lot. Thank you, Renee Rose.

Eslyn is one of the few Zandian women left in the entire universe. We originally met her back in one of the full length Zandian stories. She and her “mates” were left on Zandia when it was attacked, and they spent 15 long years as the only Zandians that they knew of, along with their kids. When other Zandians came to where they were, her “mates” tried to kidnap the other woman and kill the man with her. Eslyn, those men, and her young were all brought back to the royal pod for Prince Zander to judge.

He decides that she should be rehabilitated and chooses the three men who have been guarding her to do it. Granit, Laake, and Damon have been best friends and brothers for the majority of their lives, and are almost like one organism with three bodies instead of three separate beings. It makes sense for them to share a mate.

Generally, Renee doesn’t write menage in this series, because it turns out big purple horned aliens also tend to be somewhat possessive. However, it really works in this case, and it is hot af. The guys are awesome and caring, and they go out of their way to show Eslyn how much she matters. Totally awesome.

The Ghost in the Stars by Sophie Kisker 4.5*

This is an intro to a new universe by Sophie Kisker, and I can tell it’s going to be hot as fucking fuck. Because damn, this one was amazing. I can’t wait for more of this universe so that I can get to enjoy everything. By everything, I mean all the books and stories, of course.

Siridian is off flying in space by himself when he runs across a ship just floating around. While he waits to get permission to get in and go salvage it, he has the feeling he should just go in and do it, so he does. When he’s there, he finds a dead body and Keelie. Keelie is a human nectar slave who was abducted from a past Earth and dragged into the future to serve the men of Anteros and their addictions.

Siridian has experienced nectar slaves before and he wants nothing to do with this one. He feels guilty about things that weren’t under his control, and he wants to just get rid of her. However, he keeps having a nagging feeling in the back of his mind. Keelie keeps hearing voices and when she tries to tell Siridian about it, he just gets angry and ends up punishing her. Turns out, he should’ve listened to her.

The ideas behind this world are filthy and obscene, which are two of my favorite words when it comes to my reading material. I can’t wait to see how the rest of the ‘verse grows and expands.

Lee Savino & Lili Zander- Draekon Abduction

Do you like dragon shifters? I like dragon shifters. Today, we have a lot of dragon shifters. Thank you, Lee and Lili.

So, we’re back on the prison planet. Draekon Abduction starts right after the crash. Unlike the previous 3 books, we’re dealing with a different group of human women and Draekons. In the first book, Viola, Harper, Sophia, and Ryanna were rescued by the group of Draekons led by Arax and Nyx. When the guys first saw Viola, they knew that she was their mate. They turned into dragons, and then took her away. Harper, Sophia, and Ryanna were out trying to find food and water and were rescued by Viola and her mates. When they went back to the ship to get the other women, they were gone, taken by another group of Draekon.

This book starts the batch of stories about Olivia, Paige, Felicity, May, and Bryce. These women were rescued by another pair of Draekons, Liorax and Zunix. The second they see Olivia they shift into dragons, so they know that she’s their mate. While they are still in their dragon form, they fly the women as close to their camp as possible. Before they get to the camp, they land, shift back into humanoid form, and tell the women that they are going to be a very precious commodity. When they get to the camp, a whole bunch of dragons all of a sudden appear. Everybody has a mate, except for Bryce. But that’s OK, Olivia makes up for it, another pair turn into dragons and say that they are her mates. They are hereafter known as Fox and Hare. Mostly because I think it’s hilarious. That’s what Olivia kept calling them in conversation. Fox and Hare are douchelords and up to no good.

Zunix, Liorax, and Olivia are all keeping secrets. For all that Olivia acts like a big boobed ditz, she’s actually a very, very smart woman and a member of the CIA. She’s there to go to Zoraht and spy on the Zorahns. Zunix was an assistant spymaster, so pretty much the same kind of thing that Olivia is. Secrets are their lives, and they don’t even let their right hand consider knowing what their left had is doing. Liorax isn’t a spymaster, but he doesn’t want a mate. He had a bond mate once and she betrayed him. However, he wants to keep Olivia away from Hare, so he agrees to court her. There are all kinds of motivations going on between the 3 of them. It’s lovely. I love all the levels of secrecy.

On top of those secret, Dariux, who wants to think that he’s the leader of the village, is also a spymaster and he is up to something. Fox and Hare are up to something too, something completely different. Then other strange things start to happen.

So, here we go. Each Draekon book becomes my favorite, just as soon as I read it. It doesn’t matter how much I liked the one before it, I like the new one best. The series is getting better and better, which is a yay. There’s a lot of intrigue and conspiracy in this book. That makes it a little more complex than the other books are, I think. However, I have a feeling that they are going to stay a little more on the complex side. If hot sex, menage, hot guys, and intrigue work for you, go check this one out.

OK, we pretty much always knew who Raiht’vi was, but the reveal of who may be looking for her? Oh, holy fuck. That’s a major game changer. I don’t know what that’s going to mean for the next book, but I can’t wait for it to come out. I just know it’s going to take too long to come, especially since Lee is a very busy lady and she is in the midst of a personal expansion project.

On the end, I’m wondering how certain things are going to work out now. I kind of expect Olivia and her mates to end up as part of leadership now, since they are very tricksy and very smart. Arax is pretty smart and he’s going to use everything at his disposal right now, especially with all the latest bombs.
