Minette Moreau-Wicked Rage

Minette Moreau may sound like a new author to me and the blog, but she’s not. She’s actually a new pen name from Raisa Greywood. Minette is Raisa’s paranormal nom de plume, so if you go looking for the previous 2 Wicked Magic books, make sure that you are looking under the right name. But, we’re not here to talk about those books, we’re here to talk about the newest one, Wicked Rage. And check back later on this week to catch Raisa’s other release.

This is the 3rd book in the series, and it’s Rizan and Feather’s story. Feather is a half bear/half mage young woman, and Rizan is an ancient dragon, and brother to the current dragon king. And oh yeah, he’s Feather’s mate. But, he made a deal with everyone that he would let Feather go to college before they sealed their mating and their familiar bond. So far, all he really does is lurk around her to keep an eye on her. But the book starts out on Feather’s prom night, and she’s helping her best friend get ready. Feather isn’t going, for many reasons, but one of which is the fact that Rizan would do grievous bodily harm to any male touching Feather. Somehow, Rizan finds out how important prom night is as a milestone, so he surprises Feather at her house with a beautiful dress, jewelry, shoes, and a 1951 Jag. (BTW? Somehow=Feather’s parents)

That night, Feather and Rizan do alllllll the traditional prom activities, and it is magical, quite literally. Then it’s time for graduation and for Feather to leave. She’s leaving her tiny town in Arizona to go to college in England and Rizan is counting down the hours. She also suggests to Rizan that he figures out something to do while she’s at school for the next 5 years.

College isn’t all that Feather thought it would be, and there are troubles in the UK. Feather finds out about the problems, and moves to do something about it, but before she can, bad things happen.

Meanwhile, back in the US, Rizan has decided that he’s going to join the Army. He does, and joins two natured unit, headed by a kick ass tiger, who promptly kicks his dragon ass, which I loved altogether. A few weeks into training, he found out that his mate has disappeared. He goes to find her, along with a crack team.

Five years later, Feather is still missing, and Rizan is now counting down the days until his stint in the Army is done so that he can go search for her. He and his team have searched for her, but nothing yet.

I like Rizan. He’s got a really interesting journey through this. I think that the military was good for him. It knocked sense into him when no one else really had yet. Feather made some impressions on him, but Kali made more. I think that he really grew up, which yes, is weird to say about a dragon that has been alive for millennia and survived hundreds and hundreds of years in a hellscape, but that doesn’t change my opinion.

Feather is really smart, really powerful, and incredibly fierce. She has strong allies, apart from Rizan, and she did a lot in the big war. I think that some of that gave her a slightly lowered sense of personal danger. So far, between her own power and all of the powerful beings she knows and loves, there hasn’t really been anything that she can’t handle, so she feels like she can handle just about everything. Which, TBF, is also a trait of a teenager, and she’s only 18, no matter how much she’s been through and what she’s done. She just doesn’t have the same amount of life experience behind her. She has a lot of loss from the war, but there’s still a weird spot that she falls in.

Feather’s journey is a particularly painful one, and I teared up about it more than once. Raisa is occasionally mean to her characters. Well, I say occasionally… I’m not going to say that good things came out of the pain, because I think that it diminishes both the sheer level of pain she went through as well as the results thereof. I know that growth needs struggle and often pain and all, but I feel like it dishonors her suffering. Does that make sense? It does in my head, at least.

Anyway, that’s all for this one. You really should go pick it up and give it a read. Happy reading!

Lili Zander & Lee Savino-Draekon Warlord

It’s been a while since Lee and Lili gave us a new Drakeon book, but here we are with Draekon Warlord. We’re with Fifth of the Crimson Force and his story, along with Naomi, one of the human women he saved.

So, Naomi was tortured by the Zorhan scientists. She has some serious PTSD issues. Fifth, Danek, saved her. He killed the scientists and sat with Naomi while she was healing. He’s been there for her. Naomi has been very glad of that. But at 61 days after being rescued, she’s still stuck where she’s at. She leaves her apartment to go to therapy, to go running, and that’s it. On the day that she decides that 61 days has been too long, she leaves her apartment, and as she’s walking down the hall, she hears Danek being asked to do a mission. She walks into his apartment, and somehow ends up as part of the mission. It’s not easy though, especially as there is an alert one night before they have to leave and the sirens and the scientist coming to make sure that she evacuates trigger a massive PTSD event. She worries that she’s a liability, especially since Danek seems to think that she’s too weak and a liability and that she’s going to cause the mission to fail.

Meanwhile, we have Danek. He knows that Naomi is his mate, and it’s not that he thinks she’s too weak. It’s that she’s his mate and he doesn’t want to put her in danger. He does worry about how well she can cope, but that’s because he saw where she was when he rescued her, and that kind of got stuck in his head. Because he’s so protective, it’s easy for him to do that, so when he gets tricked into taking her on his mission, he does actually tell her that he thinks that she can’t do it. Which of course, Naomi doesn’t take very well.

The resilience that Naomi shows is amazing. It isn’t easy to handle trauma of any sort, and her was on the more severe end, and the fact that she was able to come through as well as she did just shows how strong she is. (Note, I am not saying anyone who has issues coming through with their trauma or deals with it differently is weak, because that is so far from the truth.) I think that she will probably always have to deal with certain triggers, because that’s the way that PTSD and healing from trauma works. I like the fact that she knows that she can handle it and that she will be ready for her life. I really respect that. I was so happy to see her happiness, humor, and her sassiness come out.

Danek has a huge streak of guilt, and I understand why he does. I think that adds some to his overprotectiveness when it comes to Naomi. And of course, seeing her the way that she was when he rescued her doesn’t help. He’s always going to go to the fear place for her. I think that things she did in this one will help him handle it better.

OK, that’s all for this one. No spoilers today. Go check it out!

Raisa Greywood-Wicked Fire

Raisa has gone back to her magical world of dragons, Sidhe, mages, and two-natured. I have been looking forward to Wicked Fire because I wanted to find out more about Drako and Morgaine, and this book let me do that, for sure.

So, for those who don’t remember, Morgaine is an ancient mage who has a hardon for the Archer family. She has done all she can to kill the entire family, down to Lily, who has 3 powerful husbands, including Myrddin, Morgaine’s old friend and teacher. Morgaine talked to a crazy dark elf named Teran and managed to get him to hold Lily prisoner. He did horrrrrible things to Lily.

For her pains, Morgaine ended up trapped in a stone, sentenced to be there until it turned into dust. She had no contact with anyone, although the king of the light elves would give her stuff every 10th anniversary. That included books, laptops, TVs, and radios. She could watch the world go by, but she couldn’t interact with it. It was a quiet existence, but not a terrible one, at least once she had the books and computer. She spent a lot of time researching and learning, which she loved. But then, there’s an earthquake, which destroys her prison. She gets picked up by a pair of elves, who tell her that the light king and the dark queen are going to give her another chance for redemption. She has to go kill Teran, who has escaped. And oh yeah, she has to do it without her magic, and if she fails, she dies. Meanwhile, she has to go from Cornwall to London in 6 hours to catch her flight. Now, Morgaine has been locked up in a stone for over a century, so trying to get from here to there is really hard for her. But, she manages to make it to New York, where she sees Lily and her husbands, who, of course, want to attack her.

So, Drako is the last dragon on Earth. He was bound to Myrddin for centuries, and now he’s bound to his many-times granddaughter, Lily. He’s a living tattoo on her back, but all he needs is a little magic, and he can be free. When Morgaine shows up, he tells Lily to free him, and he’ll handle Morgaine. After all, he doesn’t like her much either, since she killed all of his Archer descendants because Fergus wouldn’t leave his wife for her, or at least, that’s her story. So, Drako gets his freedom, and he takes Morgaine to his hoard. He says that he’s not interested in her, but he’s not about to trust her at all, because he knows that her story about having to get Teran is all bullshit. He figures that she only wants to get to Teran so that they can work together.

You know, finding out more about Morgaine made me really like her. I didn’t like her all that much in other books, mostly because she was cast as a villain in those books. But, her story makes me look back at her actions in the other books, and say ooooohhhhh, that’s why she did this. It was shitty, but it could’ve been worse, and I totally understand it now. I really like her now. This book gave her an excellent redemption arc, but really, I think that her redemption may have started much earlier. I’m going to have to go back and reread everything all at once, just so I can doublecheck.

I have liked Drako, but there were times in this one when I got really mad at him. I don’t know how much of why I got mad at him is the fact that he isn’t just out of touch, but that he’s hundreds and hundreds of years out of touch or how much he is acting on preconceived notions. I mean, yeah, he was there with Myrddin and Lily all those many years, but he spent a lot of that time kind of sleeping, and didn’t pay as much attention as he could’ve, so he’s still working on old behaviors. I can understand why he treated Morgaine the way he did at first, but when he started seeing stuff in her that was contrary to what he thought he knew, he just decided that she was lying and didn’t believe her or do anything to actually help.

I think that a lot of people failed Morgaine from the very beginning. I totally understand why she acted the way she did in the beginning. Even with being as strong as she was, she was innocent, trusting, and vulnerable. Everything could’ve been so different if she hadn’t been failed as she was.

There was one particular part that absolutely broke my heart and left me ugly crying.

standing-stones-4414684_1920

Yan was fascinating. And I’m really hoping that we’ll get a story of Yan and Omer, because I’m pretty sure that would be totally awesome. And Feather’s story too.

OK, that’s all for this one. Go check it out! Happy reading!

Lili Zander & Lee Savino-Draekon Warrior

So, Draekon Warrior is set in Lee and Lili’s Draekon world, but it isn’t a prison planet story. We’ve mated off all those women, and now we’ve moved to the rebellion part of the story. It turns out that another ship left Earth with another 10 women. And this is going to be their series.

Alice was one of those women. Instead of going to the fabulous alien planet she was supposed to go with her 9 friends, she ended up as a prisoner of evil Zorahn scientists. The women had been broken into pairs and spread through the universe. Alice ended up with Tanya, being tortured daily for 7 months. Alice kept fighting and fighting, even though fighting means that she gets beat and hurt even worse. Tonya, meanwhile, has pretty much completely shut down altogether, and is just going through the motions and listening to what the scientists tell her to do. It doesn’t save her from being tortured, but it does keep her from getting beat as much as Alice does. One day, the routine changes. Alice and Tonya are sold, drugged, and dragged away.

The rebellion has heard about these human women who have been stolen away, and they are determined to rescue all ten of the women. They have a secret weapon. Well, make that 5 secret weapons. They are Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth. They are 5 of the first 6 original Draekon. Not just, you know, early generations, but numbers 2-6 of the original creation. They were born and bred to be warriors. They are big, smart, vicious, cold-blooded killers. They have also been kept in stasis for a thousand years. The stasis tubes were found by archeologists and the rebels claimed them. So Rahit’vi and the rest of the powers that be in the rebellion decide to wake up our guys so that they can go find the women. So, each of the guys goes off to find a pair of women.

Second is sent after Alice and Tonya. But Second has a secret that no one else knows. He named himself. Kadir ab Usora, Warrior born from the Light. None of the 6 were given names, and if anyone found out that he had named himself, he would’ve been severely punished. He has never told anyone his name, not even his brothers. At least, no one until he meets Alice when he rescuing her, and she punches him in the jaw, breaking her wrist. But Kadir was impressed.

I really like the story here. I mean we’re getting a lot of adventure in this one. We’re also learning new things about the Draekon. I mean, we thought we knew all about them, but these guys are changing all the rules. For one thing, they aren’t mating in pairs. For another, they don’t have to wait to mate to be able to switch to dragon form.

One thing I really like about Alice is that she always sees Kadir. She never sees him as Second. He is always Kadir and she sees the truth of him. Everyone tries to tell her that he’s a crazy, crazed killer and he’s on the edge and very possibly suicidal. But none of them have really spent more than just about 2 seconds with Second, which means they haven’t taken the chance to know him. And the rebels forced our guys to go out and search for humans by injecting them with a long acting poison. Which, you know, kinda makes them no better than a lot of the other people who have been around. That means a whole lot to Kadir. There’s never been anyone who has done that for him.

Kadir really is a good guy. He’s got a really good heart and is incredibly honorable. He feels a lot of responsibility. I really like him a lot.

First interests me, but not necessarily in a good way.

OK, that’s all I have to say today. Go check out all the books and enjoy them all. Happy reading!

Katie Douglas-Flame Daddies

Katie Douglas has been having a good month. First she released an Aria Adams book, and now we’re getting a spinoff of her 24th Century Daddies ‘verse. (Her Daddy and Her Master was one of my first daddy books and was my first Katie book) Today, not only are we getting Daddies, we’re getting dragons, and a reverse harem with Flame Daddies.

Alora is a princess. She’s not just A princess, she’s THE princess, the daughter of the Emperor-Paramount of the Interplanetary Alliance, in other words, the ruler of the entire galaxy. So, she’s a pretty important person. Which is why slavers kidnapped her after they blew up the government center on Nidia, which Alora is pretty sure also killed her father. Luckily, she gets rescued.

Argon, a silver dragon, Sharpe, an emerald dragon, Brynn who is gold, and Canavan who is an amethyst dragon are 4 brothers. They have managed to… acquire a spaceship. It’s hard for dragons to own things like spaceships since the elves on Telia II, with whom they share a planet, want to kill them all off. In fact, there are very, very few dragons left any more because of the genocide the elves are committing. Species-cide? Whatever. But, the boys have managed to get one, and they are on their way to Telia I to see if it’s a good planet for dragons when their sensors show that there is dragon DNA on a ship ahead of them. They figure there’s eggs on the ship, so they are going to go rescue them, but when they get there, they find Alora. So, of course, they rescue her.

All the boys are attracted to her, and the funny thing is that they all pretty much have the same thought, which is that they shouldn’t let their brothers know that they are attracted to a humanoid. Hmmm… Didn’t stop them though, now did it? Some of the dragons have cool fire power. Sharpe and his green fire are healing, so when he flames Alora, he heals all her injuries. Canavan’s purple fire is even better. He can adjust the temperature and he can make his flame stoke the feelings of lust, and OMG he does. The guys also have a pouch on their bellies when they are dragons that they can use to carry things, like ginormous, scaly kangaroos. I thought it was just like a built-in Baby Bjorn, since they tuck Alora in there when they are flying. Kind of fits for a Daddy book, even though there isn’t so much age play in this one. Since it’s a Katie book, it’s sweet with a nice bit of funny too. I’m hoping we might run into some old friends as we go through the rest of the series, since we already know one half-elf.

tmp855871500656312321

OK, without going back and checking, I’m wondering if the story that the dragons tell Alora about the reason the war picked back up is about Flin from Her Daddy and Her Master, but I can’t remember right off how old he is. I’m going to have to go back and check to see if I’m right or not.

I’m looking forward to seeing Alora rule with the guys backing her up. I hope that there are still a lot of dragons. I want to know what she’s going to name the planet.

OK, that’s all for today. Go check out all of Katie’s Daddy books. Happy reading!

Lili Zander and Lee Savino-Draekon Fever

After an eventful spring filled with lawsuits and new babies, Lili Zander and Lee Savino have been able to get back to the prison planet and bring us a new story to love with Draekon Fever.

So, our major players are Ferix, Rorix, and Sofia. The guys were two of the guys in the drop with Arax, and rescued Sofia and Harper, among others. What Sofia doesn’t know is that right after they saw her, Ferix and Rorix had to run away and turn into dragons. She was their fated mate. However, they didn’t want to completely overwhelm her, so they decided that they would wait a few days and let her settle in. Except there was another problem. The male who caused the crash that stranded the humans on the prison planet is distantly related to them. By law, that makes them as culpable as he is and they can’t benefit from his crime. That means that they can’t claim Sofia as their mate, no matter what their inner dragons and their hearts want. So they end up with a mating fever.

Sofia is a doctor. She worked really hard to get where she is. She’s attracted to and flirted with Ferix and Rorix, but suddenly they turned cold on her. She’s a virgin and she figures that she’s just going to be a virgin forever, because she can’t even give it away on the prison planet. When she finds out they are sick, Sofia knows that she has to go and try to make Ferix and Rorix better. It’s not just because she’s a healer, it’s because she’s still obsessed with them.

When Ferix and Rorix discover how far into their mating fever they are, they know that they are going to have to leave before they completely lose control of their dragons, and grab Sofia and drag her away, so they run. Only once it’s been discovered that they ran, right as the Zorahn invade their prison planet, does Sofia find out that they are her mates, and she’s damned if she’s going to just let them die.

I love the fact that the virgin isn’t the sacrifice to the dragons like you often see in fairy tales, instead, she’s the hero of the story. She’s strong, smart, fiesty, and will take no shit from anyone, no matter who they are. She believes what she’s doing and she believes in her mates. Dariux is really interesting in this book. He’s really interesting and very, very tricksy. It’s like he knows things because he put them in place. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Silver_dragon_-_Lars_Grant-West

I love how the commander at the hidden city got what he wanted and didn’t have to outright defy any orders. That was smart and tricky. I have a feeling that we are going to need to have that quality coming up.

Bryce’s story looks to be really interesting, after everything that has happened in this one. I can’t wait to see what Rahit’vi is going to do right now. I think everything hinges on her and her actions.

So, that’s all I have to say about this one. Go check out all the books! Happy reading!

Ava Sinclair-King’s Bride

Today we’re going back into Ava’s Drakoryan world. And how proud of myself do you think I am that I can remember how to spell Drakoryan? Also, my Grammarly no longer recognizes Drakoryan as a misspelled word. LOL. But, I digress. Again. Like that never, ever happens. But, that doesn’t get us to King’s Bride, does it? So let us talk dragons.

Zara was taken when her village of Branlock was destroyed by the Shadowfell. They managed to take all but her sister, Isla, who has already mated with her own dragon mates. When Zara was found wandering the woods, cold and starving, nothing was able to heal her, so Isla begged for her to be sent to the witchs. However, the evil dragons had pumped Zara full of dark magic like a Trojan Horse so that they could use her to break into the stronghold.

In the great battle to try to keep the ShadowFell out of the witchs’ mountain and away from the deep and wild magic, King Vukuris died. That means that Drakoryan are currently left without a king. The four princes, Bymir, Rargi, Yrgi, and Oneg decree that they will take Zara as bride and queen. But, naming the king isn’t as easy as picking the oldest or the one who was trueborn from Vukuris versus his brothers. No. They are going to have to battle. The princes will fight to see which has the right to the first night with Zara and to be King. To the winner goes both prizes.

Each of these books gets more and more interesting. There’s just so much more going on as we build up from where we started with Sacrifice to where we are now with King’s Bride. I love that each book gives us a new happy grouping, but that we are also getting an overarching storyline. And I totally love that we aren’t getting instant happy families. There is work that has to be done for each grouping to be happy. I can’t wait to see what the next one is going to bring with all the changes that showed up in this one.

Denmark_crown

I’m loving that Layla had twins and that one is a girl. That’s going to make some seriously interesting changes. I really love that the witches are still able to get through and tell people what’s going on. I look forward to learning more about Sabine and what she is going to do.

Poor Oneg. I both do and don’t feel sorry for him. There’s the whole he wants to be his father’s son thing going on and then the whole they are all their fathers’ sons and blood doesn’t mean all that much. I love the line that Bymir says along the lines of yes, Father treated us all as his sons, and I will treat your sons as if they are all my sons, and you will be happy that I do. I also like that Bymir was able to realize when he needed to apologize. I think that if he hadn’t done that, then Oneg wouldn’t have been able to get past his stuff.

I loved this book, just as I have loved all the Drakoryan books, and I look forward to reading new ones. Happy reading!

Megan Michaels-The Dragon Warlords

Megan is making her first appearance here on IBtP with a trio of terrific tails. And before you say, oh Clara, you misspelled tails, trust me, I did it on purpose. The 3 books are all great with a wonderful storyline, but they also have a breakout star, the tails. OMFG, the tails.

So, these books take place on the planet Trexotera, which has dragons. Thing of those dragons as warplanes, but you know, living and breathing warplanes. When the Trexoterans go to war against other planets, they take their fire-breathing dragons and go. The warlords and Commanders also carry guns and swords. While they may fight with dragons and swords, the Trexoterans are advanced with all that scifi tech we all love. Trexotera is run by King Zorander Quinn and his Queen, Gossamer. They have 2 sons and 2 daughters and one adopted son. The sons are Drayce and Cloven, with Artemis being the adopted son. The daughters’ names are Rosary and Willow.

While the story takes place primarily on Trexotera, the planet Zelora is also important. That planet is ruled by Alastair Tempest, who has twin daughters, Satin and Thistle, and at least one son, Thunder. I’m pretty sure that there is at least one more, but I haven’t checked the first book.

So, with all that, let’s talk about the books, shall we?

The first book is The Dragon’s Secret, and it’s Satin and Drayce’s book. Satin’s quiet, shy, and retiring sister Thistle is supposed to go and marry Drayce, prince of Trexotera. Satin decides that she’s going to take Thistle’s spot and go marry Drayce. That’s because she has always wanted to be a dragon warlord and ride a dragon. Her father wouldn’t hear of it, so her only way to do it is to take her sister’s place. When she gets to Trexotera, Drayce meets her and punishes her. Then he marries her. And we get to learn about the awesomeness that is a tail. Tails and spanking, pure awesome.

OK, the way that this works is that when a dragon feels a person is worthy, they gift the person and they are then turned into a warlord. One of the things to prove that they are a warlord is that they get a tail. Yup. A very flexible and talented tail. The warlords use their tails when it comes to sex. Pretty much anywhere the tail can go, it does. And at the end of it, there is a little barb that pops out when the tail owning person comes. It locks into their partner for a few minutes. Then there are Commanders who are warlords who have a dragon patch, which is a section of skin that looks and feels like dragon skin. Drayce is a Commander, and Satin becomes one as well.

Then we have The Warlord’s Priestess. Thistle is now on Trexotera and she has a new Daddy. Artemis rescued her and he knew as soon as he saw her that she was the one for him. Thistle was supposed to be the shy, quiet one, but Artemis has found out that she has quite a bit of fire in her, once she finds out that she has certain magics and can help out the dragons and their warlords. Thistle, Satin, and their friend and fellow warlord, Wish, manage to help when it comes to a huge confrontation in the war that Zelora started. Again, lots of spanking and fun tail sex. I’m in serious lust with the tails. I really want one. I mean, yeah. Imagine all the fun you could have with it.

Finally, we have Cloven’s Only Wish. Cloven and Wish’s relationship has gotten deeper. He’s her Dom, she’s his baby girl. Wish is strong, stubborn, has some issues with her temper, and very independent. The war with Zelora has heated up and Alistair has threatened the royal women of Trexotera, which means that they are all being kept under lock and key and heavy guard, which is difficult for all the women, but especially Wish, who has worked really hard to be the warlord that she is. The fact that their men are going off to war without them is really hard on all the women, and not good things happen.

Yeah, I know, it sounds vaguely vague in places, doesn’t it? That’s because if I go too much into any one book, I spoil the next one. Oh well, that means that you have to go buy them and read them. I wouldn’t read them as a standalone. They are all interconnected and if you miss one, you are going to miss out not only on the overall storyline but also the full story on each of the couples. Overall, I like the series, a lot. There are a few places that I don’t like, but that’s pretty typical. For example, I don’t really like Cloven much in the second book, but Megan rehabbed him and I liked him in his book. Even though I liked him in his book, there were a couple of times that he made me mad. It may sound like I’m picking on Cloven, but that’s just because I read his book yesterday, so he’s fresh in my mind. I’m hoping that there is more to come, I mean, Rosary and Willow should have their books too, don’t you think?

dragon

OK, I just have to say that I hate Alistair. I mean, he’s a serious prick. He hates his daughters, obviously, and he’s a jealous little prick. I thought that he was going to do terrible things to Gossamer, even more terrible than having her kidnapped and thrown into his prison. I’m pretty sure he’s not altogether in between the ears, especially after he takes the dragons.

The big punishment scene in Priestess wasn’t my fave. It wasn’t that it was hot, because it was. I understand why it was done the way that it was done, and it makes sense in the book, but for me, it took away a sense of support that I thought that the women needed. Of course, that may just be me projecting how I would feel on the characters. Of course, that’s just how I feel about it, and you may like it. And that’s totally awesome. There are probably parts that I liked that you didn’t. It all works out in the end, right?

Alright, I think that I’ve said all that I want to say today. Megan’s books aren’t on KU, but they are priced reasonably. Go check them out. Happy reading!

Ava Sinclair-Rebel Bride

Ava is just rocking this RH gig hard. I think her Drakoryans are my fave RH heroes. Of course, that could just be because of their magic cocks. The storyline is pretty good too, so that’s could be the reason too.

Her latest book, Rebel Bride, brings us back to their world and makes things much more intense. The books aren’t really standalones, there is an overarching storyline that spans the books, although each of the books (after the first two) focus on one particular group. Each book builds on the one before, so if you are reading these, you really want to start at the first one and go through them all. You will enjoy the books a lot more if you do.

Anyway, this book features Thera the healer and the Lords of Kri’byl, Jareo, Gyrvig, Erdorin, Yrko, and Tyri. The last two boys are twins, that’s important. Thera was a woman from one of the villages who now lives in the valley that is surrounded by the mountains where all the Drakoryan lords and their brides live. The villagers were all brought there to keep them safe from the Shadowfell. The king of the Drakoryans decided that the Lords of Kri’byl should live in the village to help out the people and  keep them safe.

So, that brings us to now, roughly. Not all the villagers are happy about living where they are. Winter has come and it is cold. Since the Shadowfell burned the harvest, there just is barely enough for the people to eat. Even the Drakorayn in their castles are rationing. None of this leads to happy conditions in the village, especially as the villagers still haven’t seen the Shadowfell, so none of them quite believe that they exist. Then you get Thera, who is… angry. She is a widow. A few years before, during a winter like this, her husband and her father had gone out hunting because the Drakoryan punished their village and they had no extra food. While they were out hunting, they died. Thera blames the Drakoryan for that. I can’t blame her for that, I probably would too.

Well, because she hates the Drakoryan, she does what she can to stir up trouble. She thinks they are all liars and that they are the enemy and they have just taken away the villagers’ free will. So, she stirs and stirs and stirs until the pot comes to a boil and boils over. The Witches decree that there is only one way to make things better. Thera is to mate with the Lords of Kri’byl.

Overall, I like Thera. But, there are a few times where I really don’t like her. She knew what she was doing. I’m not sure what good she thought she was going to do though. I get being angry and wanting revenge, and I think that in her place, I probably would want revenge on the people who I blamed for my husband’s death too, but there’s a difference between revenge and cutting off your nose to spite your face. I think the guys were probably a little more patient with her than I would’ve been at times. I can’t wait to see where the next one is going to take us. It’s going to be a doozy.

I can’t wait to see how the issue with Zara and the king is going to change things. The Witches being gone is going to be interesting too.

OK, that’s all I have to say today. Happy reading!

Ava Sinclair-War Bride

We’re back in Ava Sinclair’s world of Drakoryans, those hot, hunky dragon shifters. The first two books of the series focused on Lyla and her mates, but now we’re looking at a new bride. We still have hot Alpha dragon shifters, but we have 3 of them now, but we are also in an active war situation, which is different to the last two books. Thus the name, War Bride. See how that works? LOL.

So, our heroine is Isla. In the last book, her village was destroyed by the ShadowFell and Lyla, her mates, and one of the Lords of Za’vol found her in the bottom of the well. She had jumped in there to escape the firey breath of the bad dragons, and hadn’t been able to get out, so if they hadn’t come along, she wouldn’t have lived.

They all took her back to Lyla’s castle so that Isla could be ministered to. While there, news is given that the Drakoryans will now be able to take War Brides, instead of the way that they had been doing it. The Lords of Fa’vol are the first to be given a war bride, Isla.

So, Turin, Zyvis, and Jayx are the Lords of Za’vol and they are pretty jazzed about being able to have a bride. I mean, who doesn’t want to have a mate and who doesn’t want to have a chance to have their bloodline go on? At least in these books. The boys are trying to get Isla to warm up to them because it’s time for them to seal their mating. But first, they must have their big fight so that the order in which they are with Isla for the first time.

There are a lot of really interesting things that go on in the book. One of them is we get to see more into the ways that Drakoryan families can interact, both positively and negatively. I found that to be really interesting because we don’t always see the bad side of heroes and their families, so getting to see the ugly and how it affects a lot of things was refreshing. There are lots of things that have really whetted my appetite for the next books, and hopefully, Ava won’t make us wait for very long.

Yeah, this may look like it’s a weird thing to go with a story about dragon shifters, but trust me, when you read it, you will get it.

It’s going to be a huge change for the villagers and for the Drakoryans to have the villagers right there.

I think I know who our new grouping is going to be. If I’m right, it’s going to be explosive and I can’t wait for the fireworks to start.

OK, that’s it for this one. Go read the whole series, you won’t be sorry.
