This book gives me all the things I love in the Interstellar Brides universe. We get the Colony and Atlans. I love the Atlans. I want an Atlan of my very own. I keep trying to get one, so I guess I’ll have to keep trying. I also love all the guys on the Colony. They need all the love ever. Which is what leads to the Bachelor Beast.
So, there just aren’t a lot of brides for all the guys on the Colony. Those poor guys can’t really go home because of the Hive contamination, and until recently they were stuck there with no brides, but things have changed. There are still a lot of guys stuck there. But then the Governor’s bride had an idea, why not have one of the guys go down to Earth and do some good positive PR?
Warlord Wulf came down to Earth and he thought that he would just be doing some interviews. Then he found out that he’s going to be doing a reality show called the Bachelor Beast. We all know the basic idea behind those shows. Wulf was given the choice of many nice women, and the goal is that he would find his mate at the end, and offer her his mating cuffs, live on TV of course, and live happily ever after. He has to find a mate, because he’s on the edge with his mating fever, and if he doesn’t get one soon, he’s going to have to go to Atlan to be dealt with. And he has one huge problem. His beast does not want either of the two remaining women. He’s talking to the governor of the Colony, his bride, and their second, and trying to get them to understand, but they are Prillion and not Atlan, so they don’t get it quite as much. At this point, Wulf has some hard choices. Then he walked out on stage, and things start to happen.
Olivia is a makeup artist who was hired to work on the show. Usually she’s gone by the time the show is filmed, but not today. Today she’s switched hoours with her boss so that she can watch the finale being taped live. It’s the first time that she’ll be seeing Wulf live. She’s seen him on the show, since she’s been watching it, but never in person. Well, maybe if she had been in the same room with him before this, the whole show would’ve been different, but she wasn’t and it isn’t. And she’s about to get way up close and personal with Wulf. You see, as soon as Wulf’s beast senses Olivia he knows that he has finally met his perfect mate, and what a beast wants, a beast gets. He knocks over a camera, he smashes the mic in the host’s hand, and it’s damn shame that he doesn’t break the hand of the host, but Wulf is honorable. That doesn’t mean that he isn’t going to grab Olivia, take her to his dressing room and get jiggy with her. But then, things happen, and Olivia ends up running away, and Wulf ends up tranquilized. Thank goodness for Warden Egara.
I love Warden Egara, she is the absolute best. I love how she can pretty much just smack people around, even huge Atlan beasts, using just her words and her voice. It’s not even like she is loud and booming, she’s just her, and she makes things happen. I really, really, really want her to get a second chance at happiness. If you are in either of Grace’s rooms, you will see that Egara is a fan favorite, and everyone wants her to get a new mate or mates. Hopefully it will happen for her. Soon. Please?!?!?!
Olivia is a good woman. She’s has a good heart and she takes care of what is hers. She does have some self-esteem issues, and I bet that working in show business doesn’t make that easier on her. But I really like her. She is so ready to be loved and has so much love to give.
Wulf has shown up in books from time to time, and he’s one of my favorites, because Atlan, but he’s just a good guy. You can see how good he is just from all the ways that he acts. He’s done everything he can to help out the people on the Colony, and that includes doing things like this stupid reality experiment which he hates, but doing it helps the other males on the Colony, both by getting them new brides and by making people aware of those folks. He so deserves a good woman, like, oh, I dunno, Olivia.
Ugh. Chet. Yuck. I hope someone smashes him hard, because he totally deserves it. Same with Ruth.
