Anthology-Dirty Daddies

So, last year, a bunch of Daddy authors got together and started a party room on FB. There’s a lot of parties, jokes, posts, and so forth in there. There’s also a pretty damn awesome anthology that came out of it. And I was the lucky one to get a full ARC of the whole Dirty Daddies anthology. Rayanna Jamison asked me if I wanted it, which I feel like was some kind of test, because, like I’m going to say no?

There are 12 stories in here by 13 authors, since Rayanna and Allysa teamed up on their story. All of the authors have written Daddy stories before, and I had read all but two of them, and they were both on my TBR. But, shall we talk about what my TBR looks like on any given day?

There are a lot of reasons that I like to read anthologies like this. One is that you get a lot of takes on the theme, and there is quite a range in here. Another is that you can get a good flavor of authors you aren’t familiar with, which in my case was Laylah Roberts and J.M. Dabney. Some of the stories in here, like Golden Angel’s Little Leigh, Pepper North’s Sylvie, and Katie Douglas’ Daddy’s Precious Little Girl belong in established worlds, while others are new stories in new worlds. And then you get Brianna Hale, who got her inspiration from a thread on FB. And Brianna? I think I read that thread too. I probably said that it would be the only way that I would exercise too. LOL.

All 12 stories are good stories and I like them all. And I would really like to have any one of these 12 Daddies, because they are so yummy and Daddy-licious. But, like with any anthology, there are going to be stories that I like more than others. Because that’s just how it is.

If you have read my blog, you can probably guess that Lindsay’s Secret by Emily Tilton is one of my favorites, because yeeeeeaahhhhh. We all know how I feel about Emily and the way that she writes about erotic humiliation, because it’s just so dirty the way that she does it. I mean the language around it. I know, I know, every time I talk about Emily, I say that, but that’s because every time I read her books, I’m struck by it. The only way for it to get hotter is to listen to an audiobook. I can’t listen to her audiobooks while I’m driving. It’s a rule. But, I liked watching Lindsay and Rick figuring things out.

J.M. Dabney’s An Odd Little Girl is another one of my favorites. They wrote a fun little story about a Daddy finding his little girl, and a little girl finding the Daddy she’s always needed, but never knew she needed. I really like Via because she really just exudes sweetness and light, and I could totally feel that. I like how Donavan accepts everything about Via, including the rest of her family. And frankly, I think her family is just ridiculously wonderful.

Aubrey Cara’s Cry for Daddy is another favorite of mine. It’s darker than the rest of the stories, but it’s not totally dark, just darker than the others. Her story is about Lily and Maximus, and how they fit together in each other’s lives and with the world in general. I felt sorry for Lily, but also I felt like she kept a core essential of who she was hidden. Maximus wasn’t the entire hardass that he wants to believe he was. Not to say he isn’t a hardass badass, but he has a soft marshmallowy center.

OK, if you want 12 smoking hot Daddies, then this is definitely the anthology that you need to get. Of course, I’m willing to fight you for several of the Daddies, and spoiler, I fight dirty. I enjoyed each and every story, and I will definitely reread the stories when I need a quick Daddy pick up.

The Dynamic Duo-Cuff Me, Daddy

The Dynamic Duo of Alyssa and Rayanna are back with the latest Daddy of the Month book, Cuff Me, Daddy. And I think this one might be the best one in the series to this point, especially if you ask Sue, lol.

This is a second chance romance with an older couple. I know that I’ve talked about how I love a good second chance romance, being part of one myself, and as a lady of a certain age, I like seeing female characters my age. I have nothing against young nubile 20 year olds whose tits defy gravity, trust me, not one damn thing, but seeing someone my own age having some freaky-deaky sex and dealing with the realities of being 40-something is always nice.

So, Mama Sue is the oldest of the Dirty Dozen. She and her daughter Amy are both part of the book club, which more power to them. I don’t want to know what kind of kink my mother has. It’s bad enough that I know that she’s a screamer. And now you know. I live to share the pain. Anyway, her almost ex-husband left town years ago, because of reasons. Now he’s back, and there are problems. I say almost ex-husband because she left him standing at the altar.

Gabe has moved home so that he can work with the local police department and he wants to spend time with his kids, Aaron and Amy. They may both be grown up now, but that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t want to be around him. And if he sees Sue, well, that’s not a drawback. You see, it’s been decades since they were last together (22 years, but who’s counting?) and he still loves her. He’s always loved her. He will always love her. He’s pretty sure that Sue feels the same about him, somewhere deep down, but she has built all kinds of walls.

I really relate to Sue. Like I said, second chance romance here, but I get the whole loving someone for years but still being afraid of getting back with them because of what is going on with him. It can be really scary, and it’s a lot easier to be angry AF, and to yell at them. Then that anger turns into a habit, and you just can’t get away from it because it’s right there, and it’s just an easy habit.

I also relate to Gabe. Sue really does a lot of push/pull with him. I think that he’s always pretty upfront with her about what he wants and how he feels, but she’s playing games, sort of. I don’t think that she’s doing it on purpose. I think it just happens. She knows how she feels, but she fights it and hides it, so she really ends up spinning him around.

Of course, this is a Romcom, so there are some things in here that are funny AF, I mean I was laughing my ass right off, and my husband asked why, so I read him the section about jalapenos. It was just toooooo funny.

Like the rest of the books, it’s a quick read full of a lot of love and laughter. I love the Dynamic Duo on their own, and I really love them together. Ray and Ally are good friends and you can really tell it in their books. It makes for a nice flow in the books, I think.

Amy is really going to have fun in her class, I think. I can’t wait to see her story and how her parents handle it.

Anthology-Super Daddies

So, 8 Daddy authors got together to write 7 super stories. We have Super Daddies, naughty heroines, little villains, and a Daddy Shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo. Shall we dig into our stories, then?

Stella Moore-Weathering Lainey

Donovan is a Variant who has stayed under the radar, then he saves a woman from the bad guys, and ends up having to keep Lainey. He won’t tell her his name, only that she can call him Daddy. And he enforces it with his firm right hand. He tells Lainey she’s a Variant too.

I really enjoyed this story and how Lainey’s power works. I’ve always wanted to have that power myself. I thought that she and Donovan were really cute together, and I’m pretty sure I’ll never look at a rainbow the same way.

Golden Angel-Little Villain

Chaotica wants a Daddy. She thought she found one in the villain Big Daddy. Only, she found out that he really didn’t want to be her daddy when he left her for the hero Pluto. But Pluto, when he captures Chaotica, sees something in her, and he wants to see what he could find out about it.

Oh, Chaotica is just super cute. I think that she’s a total Little, from morning to night, with no ifs, ands, or buts. I mean, the first time we see her, she’s all excited about sparklies. Which, you know what, I kinda don’t blame her, sparklies are pretty awesome. And she has a stuffie collection. She should pretty much just wear a nametag that says Hi, I’m a Little. And it totally fits her, and I think that of all the Littles in this book, she’s my favorite. The name Chaotica really suits her, but in a good way.

The Dynamic Duo-Super Daddy

Angela gets rescued by a mysterious caped figure, just as people are trying to break into her pawnshop. He flies her off to a safe house, and leaves, just in time for the baddies to break in and try to kill Angela again. So, he decides that he will take her to his house. Brian and his house, Marshall, are bound and determined to keep her safe.

Brian was a side character in one of Ally and Ray’s other books, one in the Fantastical Daddies series. You’ll have to go read the books to see if you can find it, because yes, I am that mean. I love the whole snarky smart house in here. Marshall is a total PITA, but in a funny way.

Adaline Raine-Daddy’s Sassy Little Superhero

Caitlyn works two jobs, and still barely scrapes buy. When her boss sends her out to the worst place in town so that she can deliver a pizza, she ends up meeting the nasty mob boss and discovers that she has super strength. Then she passes out, and wakes up in a strange man’s house. Kade rescued Caitlyn, brought her to his house, and now he’s going to take care of her, whether or not she likes it.

I liked Caitlyn’s spunk. I thought that she had a lot of spirit and I think that it’s perfect for Kade. I have to admit that I really love Kade’s sister. She knew what he needed, whether it’s what he particularly wanted. I think that they are a cute couple, and I love the way that their names fit together.

Maren Smith-Daddy Shark

Doo doo doo doo doo doo.

Ommin has a secret. If he gets hit with saltwater, he gets all sharky. This becomes public knowledge when he jumps off the Golden Gate Bridge to save a jumper, and he hits the Bay. Turns out, he does that a lot. Not necessarily jumping into the Bay, but trying to save people on the bridge. Ommin is a pretty nice guy. He offers a brand new journalist an exclusive and is intrigued about her tattoo that says “Daddy’s Little”. So he goes to do some research.

This was a fun story. I mean, not only do we have a Daddy Shark, we have Liquidman, who literally turns into water. And Ommin accidentally eats one of his toes. Ooops. I like the way that Ommin takes control of the whole situation. It was pretty sweet. I also laughed about it.

RJ Gray-Daddy’s Justice

Morrigan is a forensic investigator who has been working on a serial killer case. A serial killer case in which she meets the exact victim profile. Tall, long pale blonde hair, incredibly blue eyes, athletic build. One afternoon, as she’s indulging in her favorite Daddy books, up comes a giant and two women, one of whom looks almost like her. Turns out that they are two valkyries and the Norse God Forseti, and they are going to take her with them.

I like Morrigan a lot. I like Forseti too. I don’t like Odin very much in this because he is kind of a prick about certain things in this one. I kind of felt like Morrigan never got any kind of choice on her own, but more that she got forced into choices and she just had to deal with them, like them or not. But not by Forseti, just by everyone else.

Emily Tilton-Ultragirl Powers Up

Eighteen-year-old Susan has just discovered her superpowers. She has used them to save a cute little doggie from Charlatan’s flame cycle. She’s also discovered that she is an alien, and her powers are powered by, well, sex, fucking, orgasms, and arousal. But, she’s a good, modest girl, who would never do anything wrong. Then she meets Bob, Nightprince, a member of the CPE, a superhero organization. And he discovers her secret, mostly by catching her masturbating and oh, you know, shaking the entire building as she does it, you know, as one does.

I think that Emily leveled up when she wrote this. She went from the Queen of Filth to the Empress of the Filth Galaxy. You get Emily’s delicate touch with erotic humiliation in here, which is OMFG so filthy hot. One of the hottest scenes in this entire book, hands down, is in this particular story. One a scale of 1-10, it was a 69.

This anthology was a lot of fun to read. There were just so many, many fun things about it, and so many, many filthy things about it. I  mean, what more could you want?

The Dynamic Duo-May Day Daddy

We’re back to the Daddy of the Month Club again, and May Day Daddy marks the 25% mark. Lisa is the 3rd one down, only 9 more to go, and I’m looking forward to them. I want to see who gets taken down next. I’m rooting for it to be Belle.

Lisa works from home, so the book club meets at her house, where they always get new margarita flavors and Lisa’s homecooked goodies. (note: I work from home, and on a good day I’m in jammie pants, hair in a messy bun, and bleary eyed from staring at the computer screen too long. Lisa is doing so much better than me.) (although I wouldn’t turn down some strawberry margaritas.) (or homecooked goodies.) (how many sets of parentheses can I put in one blog?) Anyway, on one book club night, her friend Belle comes dashing in and tells Lisa that she just sold a house to a sort of famous person who Lisa would totally know who it is, but she can’t tell Lisa yet. So Lisa, being, you know, human and curious, stares outside the window every day until she sees her new neighbor. He’s an MMA guy named Mack, who goes by May Day, and hey, guess what day he moves into his new house? You guessed it, May Day.

Mack is trying to find some place where he can be out of the limelight. So, he decides that he’s going to buy a house in a small town, far away from where he works, and hopefully, far, far, far away from the paparazzi, and even further than that away from his horrible ex-wife. He’s pretty sure that he has a good chance right now. After the movers have left, and his house is all set up, he decides to get comfy, strips down to his purple briefs, and grabs a beer. Then, he’s stuck with the worst case of ding-dong-ditch ever. I mean, this is even worse than flaming dog shit. OK, maybe it’s not overall bad, but it’s definitely surprising. And right on the heels of that event, Lisa shows up with a May Day basket for her new neighbor. Perfect timing.

This has Ally and Ray’s perfect touch of humor. It’s funny, but not heavy-handed. They aren’t whacking you over the head and saying hey, joke here, laugh. Instead, they set up the situations and let you find the humor in them. I’m not saying that there aren’t obvious jokes, because they are, they just aren’t heavy-handed. And I’m choosing to think that eating onion rings off a cock is a total joke, because otherwise, umm…

I like Lisa and Mack, and this is pretty instalove, but it works really well in their situation and with their personalities. I don’t think that a longer relationship or a slow burn would work as well for them.

I can’t wait for next month’s book.

The Dynamic Duo-Fool Me, Daddy

The Dynamic Duo are back. And if Ally and Ray are the Dynamic Duo, do I want to know which one is Batman and which one is Robin? And speaking of things to know, did you know that chalupas are real Mexican food and not just Taco Bell Mexican? The things you learn when you are writing a blog. Also, dorks are not whale penises. Now, some of them might act like whale dicks, but that’s all personality. Speaking of whale dicks, there’s an Isabella Rossellini animal sex video where she dresses up as a blue whale’s dick.  Hang on, let me reset the ramble switch, I’ve obviously overloaded it today.

Fool Me, Daddy is the second book in Ray and Ally’s romcom Daddy of the Month series. We’re back with the Dirty Dozen and their wild book club. There is a little overlap in time between this one and the first one, but you don’t have to have read that one to understand what’s going on in this one, and the only reason that you know that there’s any overlap is because Laura mentions something about getting an update on Keely.

Laura has a best friend named Eli. He’s an up and coming rock star, he knows more about her than anyone else, and they are so close that he can predict what she will do. In short, he’s the perfect man. Except for one.tiny.thing. He’s gay. Or at least she’s 1000000% sure he is. He hasn’t come out to her yet, but she’s sure that he will any second now. He will be in town for a weekend for a family thing, and he’ll be staying with her. When she tells the Dirty Dozen, they tell her that she’s probably wrong about him being gay, and she should totally bring him to the next meeting.

Eli has been in love with Laura pretty much since he understood what being in love meant. But he’s been stuck in the friendzone for years, no matter how many hints he’s dropped or how much he’s flirted with her. Of course, what he doesn’t know is that she thinks he’s gay. It makes it hard for her to get with him if she thinks that he likes sausage more than he likes tacos.

OK, I have to say that there were times that I was embarrassed on Laura’s behalf, especially since I knew that he wasn’t gay. I wanted to just grab her by the hand and say oh, sweetie, chill out a second and maybe listen to your friends. OTOH, I also feel really sorry for her because she’s so in love with him and it makes her sad. Generally, I like her. I think that she has a good heart and is loyal to her friends, and is endlessly funny.

Eli is a good guy too. He’s done everything he can to make Laura realize that he likes her, except, for you know, tell her about it. They definitely have a communication problem. If only they would’ve talked to each other about their feelings long before they did, it would have been a short book.

I love Eli going to book club and talking to the ladies about what they like about the books.

I can’t wait for the next installment!

The Dynamic Duo-Good Luck Daddy

Forget Batman and Robin. The real Dynamic Duo are Rayanna Jamison and Allysa Hart. How do I know this? Well because Batman and Robin never gave me anything like Good Luck Daddy to read. If they want to rectify their error, they can get right on it. As long as it isn’t the Ben Affleck, Val Kilmer, or George Clooney Batman, and definitely not the Chris O’Donnell Robin. Protip: Nipples on body armor are just wrong. I hope Jasper’s body armor didn’t have nipples.

This is the first book of Ray and Ally’s Daddy of the Month books. They are romcoms. Yeah, I know, you probably never expected me to read some romcom, but if Ray and/or Ally write it, I will read it. And I really enjoyed it too. I love me some humor. I also liked that it didn’t lose its kinky edge. Kink and humor aren’t mutually exclusive.

The books focus on a bunch of girlfriends who have a book club where they tend to read a lot of romance books. Sexy romances. Daddy romances. Sexy, Daddy romances. Do you get the idea? LOL. Each book is going to focus on a different woman from the book club and her journey to her HEA and her perfect Daddy. Today’s book is Keely and Jasper.

Keely is currently alone in the world and suffering some serious bad luck. Six months ago, her brother was KIA. His best friend, Jasper, who was also in his unit, didn’t come home for the funeral. So, she hates him. Even though she also loves him. On the morning her car is getting repoed, Keely has finally just about hit bottom. She goes into her brother’s room, lays on his bed and then cries her eyes out. That’s when Jasper shows back up in her life, and she promptly spits in his face.

Jasper has just left the military. He’s spent his time there, and he’s just done with it now. He doesn’t have any family left. He just had his best friend and his little sister, Keely. He’s been watching Keely for years, because yeah, she’s hot and he cares for her and wants her. But, she’s off limits, no matter what. Even dead, the bro code stands. So, when he gets out, he goes to the only home he has, Keely’s house. When he finds out how bad her luck has been, he says maybe he will bring her good luck because he is a walking good luck charm.

I felt so sad for Keely. I’ve lost family members too. That grief can just make it hard to do anything and to get anything going. Then things start to just snowball. Something small will happen, but it’s more than you can deal with, and then it just gets bigger, and bigger, and bigger. That’s where Keely is, and it’s a hard place. I also like her. When we see her and not her grief, she’s sassy and snarky. She’s kind and loving, and she’s deeply loved by her friends.

Jasper is kind of a jerk sometimes and kind of not. I mean, I get his POV, bro code and everything, but there’s also the fact that Keely is an adult and even if her brother were there, she’d be the one to make the decision as to who she wants to be with, not her brother. So, he’s not trusting her to make her own decisions, see, jerky. OTOH, he’s there to help her out when she needs the help and it’s obvious that he cares about her, even outside of wanting to spank her ass and then fuck it, so not jerky. He’s a conundrum, but, seriously men, right?

I love the chapter titles and I love the easter egg that I found. I can’t wait for April’s book!

The Dynamic Duo-Robot Daddy

The Dynamic Duo of Allysa Hart and Rayanna Jamison are back with another Fantastical Daddy. This time, we don’t have Santa, a genie, or an ogre, we have a Robot Daddy.

Stella is a genius. She works in robotics and AI. She’s also stuck being the maid of honor in her younger sister’s wedding. And as if that wasn’t bad enough, her younger sister is marrying Stella’s ex. Her ex of less than a year. Yeah. That totally sucks. When she has to go down to her family’s house for the engagement party, she has to bring a boyfriend, because she lied to her mother and sister and told them that she had an awesome boyfriend. Which, yeah, not so much. When she calls her best friend and lab partner Brian and asks him to go with her, he can’t because he’s sick. He says it’s too bad she can’t make a robot boyfriend. Once she’s good and drunk, she apparently comes up with the best plans ever. The next morning, she goes to work, looks at her drunk plans, and makes Build-A-Boyfriend mark A, also known as Robo-Rob, the perfect boyfriend who is supposed to make her parents love him, her sister jealous, and her ex angry. Rob has one goal though, and I bet you can guess what it is.

This is a cute, sweet, and pretty short story. There is a lot of humor and a lot of jokes. That’s the Ally factor. She tends to write a lot of sweet stuff. The sex is also super hot, which I’m pretty sure is all Ray. There are all kinds of ’80s movie quotes, and if you are a child of the ’80s like me, you will probably get most of them. There was one that I had to look up, but I haven’t watched as many current movies as many times as I have Monty Python or Short Circuit. This really is a feel good story, full of light and happy. There is some angst and drama, but it helps to highlight the happy. It’s like adding in some salt into your sweets. It helps bring out the flavor better.


OMG, Robo-Rob’s dick. It is fantastic. I mean, just the idea of it is super wow. Kinda scary too, but I wouldn’t mind experiencing it just one time. Or maybe twice. Oh hell, probably 3 times just to make sure that the first two weren’t a glitch.

I love Robo-Rob’s last quote to Stella’s mom. My husband and I watched that movie a lot back when we were dating and first married, so it kind of made me feel all nostalgic.

Allysa Hart & Rayanna Jamison-Santa Daddy

We all know that I will read the fuck out of a good Daddy book, and when it comes to Ally and Rayanna, I know that their books are going to be good. Ally’s stories tend to be on the lighter side of the street and relatively clean. Rayanna will go darker and dirtier. But when it comes to Christmas, they came together perfectly on Santa Daddy. And I will never look at candy canes the same way again.

Yule Claus has a rather famous father, and now that’s turned 39, it’s time for him to take over his father’s business. He is now going to be Santa Claus. There’s just one tiny little catch. He has to choose his Mrs. Claus from the non-believers before Christmas. Normally, that wouldn’t be too much of a problem, but Yule’s birthday is 2 weeks prior to Christmas, so he has 14 days to find the perfect woman off the non-believer list, convert her, and get her to marry him. Christmas magic means that this should be no problem, right? Well…

Luckily for Yule, there is only one woman in his age bracket on the non-believer list, and oh yeah, on the naughty list too. Her name is Crystal and she lives in Las Vegas. She thinks that Santa is made up by the toy companies and that Christmas is just a commercial holiday that has become way too much and only encourages over-consumption. (So, OK, she does have a little bit of a point there.) She’s never really celebrated Christmas and she says she’s never wanted to. So, when Yule pops into her house, literally, in full Santa regalia, she thinks he’s a crazy man who is assaulting her by spanking her.

Yule and Crystal take a journey to help her learn to enjoy the magic of Christmas and to find the joy of the holiday. Of course, that means that he’s about to become her Daddy, but hey, that works really well. I mean, what Daddy doesn’t want his little girl to love Christmas and have a good time. One of the nice things about this story is that while there is sex, it isn’t as down and dirty as it could otherwise be, and it never happens while Crystal is in Little space. I’ve seen it done both ways, and I have no preference either way, but it’s not often that you see it separated out, so it’s a very nice difference. And it’s a very definite choice to not do that, we see that decision being made. And I think that the choices about sex in this story work really well to the story’s benefit. I’m never going to turn down hot and steamy sex in a story, but this is not that book. Does any of that make sense? It does to me, at least, so hopefully I was able to translate it over to other people.

I like Yule. I think he has a sense of humor and he’s very kind and caring, which of course, you would expect Santa to be, but he’s so nurturing to and careful of Crystal, the perfect Daddy. I mostly like Crystal. There are a couple of times when I thought she was a little cynical and jaded, which made it a little hard for me to like her, but they aren’t big sections of the story.

I do believe that this will definitely join my Christmas book lineup every year.

OK, Vixen sounds like someone I’d love to get to know. And Marcus was too funny. I love his comment about how he’s still as gay as gay can be, but he’s planning on getting back on the naughty list next year, lol.

Crystal’s letters literally made me cry. And I loved that there were tear marks on the one. It gave me a happysad.

Allysa Hart-Paris Heat

Allysa Hart has brought us a nice new story that takes place in Paris, obvs. Ally writes lighter and cleaner than many of the other authors that I feature here, but I like that. Ally’s books are a welcome break for when I am just over darked out or I just need something sweet and light to read. It’s like a palette cleaner for my mind, like pickled ginger, which I totally love, BTW. So, I loved reading Paris Heat.

So, here’s the story. Adele is a law enforcement officer who is about to go undercover to take down a notorious gangster. She’s leaving Nice to go to Paris to work as a maid in his house.

Meanwhile, in the US, Cole Porter is a criminal, a member of The Family, if you know what I mean. His uncle has started a war with Giorgio, and Cole’s beautiful little cousin has just paid the ultimate price.

Three years later, Adele is still trying to get all the evidence she needs in order to take Giorgio down. Her handler, Pierce, keeps urging her to do things that aren’t all that safe, but she tells him that she is just about ready. Cole is following her because he’s taken down everyone who was involved in killing his cousin except for Giorgio. He wants to use Adele to get into the house so that he can kill Giorgio. But, you know, the best laid plans and all that.

I like Adele. I can only shudder to think what kind of uniform G required. We know that it involved garters and stilettos, so I’m guessing it’s the whole French maid kind of thing. Giorgio is a pig and his friends aren’t much better, as we can see in a couple of places. Cole is kind of a stubborn ass sometimes, like when he’s talking to his dad. Of course, if he had completely listened to his father, we wouldn’t have this story, now would we? And just because the story is relatively clean doesn’t mean that there isn’t spanking, because, well, of course there is. Ally likes spanking, just ask her, she’ll tell you. LOL. She’s probably rolling her eyes at me now.

Anyway, like I said, this is a lovely, sweet story to read. Not so sweet that it sends you into a diabetic coma, but just the right combo of sass, kink, sweet, light, and spanking. I would love to see more about Cole and Adele. And I don’t know if the names were meant to both be singers, but there they are.

I never trusted Pierce at all. And it was even worse after he ignored the panic alert that Adele sent out. Scumbag.

And Cole was a bit of a jerk in drugging Adele and gaslighting her a bit about that. But, he can’t just come out and say yeah, I’m the one who drugged you.

Allysa Hart & Rayanna Jamison-Ogre Daddy

What happens when you put two Daddy authors together and let them go crazy with fairy tales? Well, you get Ogre Daddy. I like Allysa’s and Rayanna’s books when they are writing solo, but when they are writing together, it’s a lot of fun. Ally and Rayanna are good friends and you can really tell when it comes to their co-writing. It’s obvious, to me at least, that they had a lot of fun writing this, and I can just picture Ally jumping and down and bouncing off walls while they were writing. I think that really translated over to Ariana. And yes, for some reason, it’s always Allysa that I see bouncing off the walls and not Rayanna.

Lamira the sea witch wants to be the queen of Venus, a small island. When she finds out that the King, Queen, and their daughter Princess Ariana are all out on a boat, she makes plans. She’s going to kill the King and Queen, become Queen and keep Ari as a pet. So she sends a huge storm to swamp the boat. Only Ariana and Grayson, the fisherman, survive.

Grayson sits at the hospital with Ariana waiting for her to feel better. When he runs home really quickly to get stuff for her, everything changes. Fifteen minutes later, he leaves his house, and there’s a new Queen, a new castle, and everyone is different.

Meanwhile, Ariana is sitting in the hospital when the new Queen, beautiful, regal, kind, and loving, gives her a special book that’s just for her. That makes Ariana feel so special and whenever the Queen turns her attention to her, Ari just feels like the center of the universe. When Grayson, who isn’t changed by everything confronts the sea witch who is now the Queen, he ends up being turned into an ogre with no voice.

And thus, 2 years happen, and nothing gets better.

There was a lot of fun stuff going on in this book. For one thing, you get a real feeling that the ladies are playing with eras and such. I mean, you have an ogre, so you are thinking fantasy era and such, but you have an ogre who is bitcoin farming and uses Amazon Pantry to grocery shop. Everything has a mashed up feel like that, which I thought was pretty awesome. Then you get bits and pieces of various fairy tales. Maybe Allysa and Rayanna didn’t plan to play with fairy tales, and I’m just seeing them there and it’s all in my head, but I see them there, or at least some parallels. Like when the sea witch turns Grayson into an ogre and takes his voice, I totally see Little Mermaid in there. Plus you get the fact that the villain is a sea witch and Ariana’s name is so close to Ariel. Then there’s some Beauty and the Beast, with Grayson being a huge ogre that has been changed by magic from a man to beast. I saw lots of other bits and pieces in there. For all of the fun stuff in there, you also have some not fun stuff, and the sea witch isn’t nearly as nice as Ursula was. She’s Ursula’s much eviler twin. I mean, she makes evil twins look like Little Mary Sunshine.

OK, the words in the spell that Ariana uses look like they are Finnish to me, but when I put them in Google Translate, they didn’t really come up as anything, so either they grabbed some nonsense Finnish words or maybe Elvish from Tolkien, or they are just nonsense words. I have to know this now.

I really felt sorry for Ariana. That’s 2 years of horrible shit to have to try to get over and through. It’s a good thing that she had Grayson there to help her through it.
