Leann Ryans-Owned

This is another Omegaverse story by Leann. Owned is the 3rd book in the Omega Market books. This is the series where omegas are collected at a central collection center, and then they are auctioned off to the highest bidding alpha. This is a more scifi series, with alphas and omegas coming from all kinds of worlds and all kinds of species. In this case, we are on an alien planet, with a human omega and an alpha of unknown species.

We start with a young Lena. She and her parents have moved to a new planet. Her father is a very, very ambitious man, and he has goals. Goals in which she is very involved. Right now, she’s just barely started going from child to teen. She’s at a dinner with her parents and her father’s new boss and his family. He has an alpha son named Ivar who there are obviously plans about when it comes to Lena. Her father keeps telling his boss that there are ways around the collection center. Ivar tells Lena that one day, she will be his mate. She’s not all that excited. She’s not the only one.

Several years later, and Lena is turning 20 and is about to go to the collection center. Of course, everyone knows that it’s only a nod to the rules because somehow her father and Ivar have figured out a way that Ivar will win her auction. So, she heads to the center with just the bare minimum of what she needs because everything else can just be sent to Ivar’s house.

But what no one knows, except for, well, himself, is that Remi is bound and determined that Ivar is not going to win, because Lena is his. And he knows how the fix is working, and he’s going to fuck it up. He wants Lena, and he’s going to get her. It helps that he’s now a partner with Ivar’s father and the boss of Lena’s father. Remi also has friends in places none of those men do, and he has information. He hoards information and then uses it to his advantage.

So, Ivar is a creepy little fuck. Lena doesn’t like him, and frankly, I don’t blame her. Like I said, he’s a creepy fuck. Her dad isn’t any better, only he’s a creepy big fuck.

I like Lena. She has tried so hard to do everything that she is supposed to do. She really is a good girl, and one who has been under so much pressure her entire life. Her father has never really seen her as a person ever since she presented as an omega. She’s really spent her life being a bargaining chip to her father, and he has no problem trying to cash in on her. I think that she is just such a sweet and lovely person. She’s really open and she just wants to be loved.

Remi is one of my favorite kinds of heroes. He’s devious, sneaky, tricky, and he is bound and fucking determined to get what he wants, when he wants it, and he will fuck over anyone who tries to get in his way. I really like him. Within his own personal framework and the framework of the world that he lives in, he’s a good man, and one that I wouldn’t mind knowing, because if he’s on your side, he’s on your side.

I can’t wait for the next book!

cityscape, Tokyo

I have to say that Lena’s mom fascinates me. I don’t know how much she knew and how much she didn’t. I’d like to think that she has some insider knowledge that she’s been using to help things out. I don’t know though.

OK, that’s all for this one. Go check it out! Happy reading!

Kate Rudolph-Dekon

I think that this is my first Kate Rudolph book here, but it’s not the first one I’ve read. I own several of the earlier books in this series, and it’s one that I tend to enjoy. So, let’s get to Dekon, shall we?

OK, this is a fated mate scifi romance. The way that it works is that the aliens are a species called Detyens. Their species is dying off. Part of that is because if you don’t meet your denya, your soul mate, by the time you are 30, you are dead. Pfft. Game over. There are so few Detyens left in the universe, it was nearly impossible to find their denya, but then one lucky male found out that humans are compatible. Now, the Detyens are slowly moving to Earth, hoping that they can find denya. OK, now that you have the basics of the world down, let’s get to the specifics.

When Manda was a tween, she was stolen by aliens. She had terrible, horrible, very bad things happen to her. After 5 years, she was saved by Detyens and brought home. But while she was gone, her parents went out to try and find her, and now they are out in space. But Dekon and his brother find her parents and are bringing them home. There’s just one problem for Deke. He’s pretty sure that Manda is his denya, which is a good thing. She’s only 16 and is recovering from MAJOR trauma, which is a bad thing. He doesn’t want to do anything that will stunt her growth or her recovery. He also doesn’t want to torture himself by spending years around her without being able to claim her. So, he decides, for both their sakes’ that he will leave. He leaves and ends up being a merc.

Five years later, he’s tired and is basically trying to kill himself. But after some thought, he decides to go to a Temple of Peace and try to fix himself. He lets his family know, and he lets Manda know. Manda is PISSED. She’s been waiting for years for him to come home, and he hasn’t talked to her at all during those years. She knows that she’s probably his denya, and so does his family, who she is close to. She decides that she’s not going to stand for his shit anymore. She’s going to go out and get her man.

I thought that Manda was very mentally and emotionally strong. She went out and was going to do the things that she wants to do, even if it’s scary, like going out to space. I love her thought that she probably won’t be abducted by aliens twice. She has had to fight, hard, to be where she is. She has to fight so that she could be better. She had to fight hard to deal with her parents, and all her feelings with them. I have so much respect for her and her strength and her will.

I understand why Dekon did the things that he did. He really was kind of in that I’m going to be damned if I do and damned if I don’t, so either way, I’m just damned. It had to be so hard for him to know what Manda was to him but have to deal with her being young, physically, and deal with her trauma which can make her older mentally and emotionally. There’s that. I think that he’s a good male, and he did, most of the time, the things that were the right things to do.

OK, nothing down below today. Go check it out!

Grace Goodwin-Surprise Mates

It’s been a minute since I had one of Grace’s books on the blog, so yay! This one is a fun, sweet, sad, and made me very happy. In Surprise Mates, we get to see a lot of past favorites, so that was always nice. And we get set up for another Bachelor Beast style book some time in the future, I think. Which, again, yay! I have mad love for Atlans.

So, we have Lucy, who we met back with Olivia and Wulf. She is Olivia’s best friend, and when she and Wulf mated, she went to The Colony with them. She hangs around with the human brides, watches the kids, and is Aunt Woocy. But she’s lonely. None of the males on The Colony fit for her, and she isn’t going to have a fling with one of them anyway, because it would be mean to them. So when Queen Jessica’s mates throw her a surprise birthday party, or well, more of an event, and invite all of pretty much everyone, Lucy decides that Prillon Prime is Space Vegas, and what happens on Prillon Prime stays there. She’s out to find a hunky hottie or two and take a ride to Pound Town.

Then we have Niklas and Sambor, Nik and Sam. Niklas is an ambassador, and Sambor is his second, body guard, and pretty much Prillon’s best warrior and assassin. They are at the party when the DJ tells everyone they have to line dance, and that was reinforced by Jessica’s mate Ander, so yeah, everyone danced. Or, well, tried to do the Electric Slide. Nik and Sam didn’t do well, and knocked over Lucy, which actually ended up working out well for everyone. She looked at them, and said hey, I want orgasms, you want to give them to me? And I’m only barely paraphrasing there. And of course, the guys were more than willing to provide all kinds of orgasms.

I like Lucy, and I have liked her since we first met her. She’s a devoted friend, protective and loving. She and Olivia created a family of choice, and they really are sisters. Lucy just wants to have the best for her friend, and she’s happy at The Colony. Or rather, by her own words, she’s content. Content =/= happy. Content can be good, but it’s also lonely, so… I don’t blame her for at least wanting to get her swerve on while she’s on Prillon Prime.

Niklas and Sambor are both really good males. Nik is a little overly duty bound, I think, but that isn’t always a bad thing, really. I mean, part of his job is to make sure that the Hive isn’t getting a foothold in Coalition space, and he has to work with all kinds of people, so being very serious about his duty is kind of necessary right now. Sam is there to protect him, and has saved his life many times.

I think that this was a good story, and I did get teary a couple of times, but it made sense to be teary then. It was a little different to most of the IBP books, but it works really well here.

OK, nothing under the pic today. Go check it out! Happy reading!

Sophie Kisker-Tribute

Before I get started, I need to say that my K button is misbehaving. For someone reason, it keeps wanting to put multiple Ks instead of just one, so if you notice extra letters, it’s because either I or Grammarly missed them.

Anyway, let’s talk about Sophie and her latest book. I’ve missed Sophie’s stories, so I’m glad that she’s back. Tribute is fucking hot, and has a lot of hot fucking. It’s a very Sophie book, because you have non-con, darkness, and hot aliens. So, let’s get into the gig, shall we?

Mena is a human woman. She’s been on a ship for the last 10 of her years. She is one of what is probably the last human beings alive. The Earth was falling apart, and her ship and shipmates got launched quickly out to a planet that they had already sent colonists to. They are pretty sure that the planet is either completely unpopulated or the native beings are so primitive, they can be conquered. Well, they are wrong. The humans are headed to the planet Kazir, which is inhabited by an advanced alien species. And, oh, BTW, the previous human colonists are all dead.

Mik’kal is a senator on Kazir. He’s not just a senator, he’s the second highest senator. He’s been working with other senators to figure out what to do with the humans who are on their way. There are 3 choices. Blow them all out oof the sky, enslave them all, or put them all on a secluded island, after taking some of the humans, both male and female, as a tribute. The 3rd decision is the one that gets chosen. The human captain lets the Senate know who can be taken as tribute. The humans are all going to be put up on auction, but the leader of the planet wants Mik’kal to take one of them.

Of course, Mena is one of the tributes. And she doesn’t like the way that he and another male are talking over her. In fact, I love the comment that Mik’kal says to her about the fact he wouldn’t talk to his furniture before buying it, so why would he talk to her. Well, this pisses Mena all the way off, and she manages to kick him right in the balls. Hard. Which prompts Mik’kal to choose her.

One aspect of this planet is that it has something called nirza. It’s like the force, kinda. It’s an energy that ties the people and the planet together. The natives have to test themselves against the nirza in adolescence to learn to control it. As adults, they have to bleed off that nirza, or things turn ugly. Usually, that’s through violence, so society has created battle simulators and blood sports. Anyone who spends significant time on the planet has to deal with the nirza, not just the native species.

Anyway. Mik’kal is an asshole of huge proportions. He didn’t want a slave, and it’s very obvious. He wanted to just be done with the humans. He doesn’t want to worry about the humans infecting his world. The previous humans were all enslaved, and the rose up and killed themselves, and sometimes their children. He doesn’t want to see that happen again, so just be done with them before that can happen. He’s also a very dominating and domineering asshole. He has a huge dose of nirza and a lot of darkness, which he works very hard to keep controlled, at least before Mena. But for all that he’s an asshole, he’s an honorable man. He really wants the best for his world and his people. He makes the hard choices because it’s his duty, and he willing serves his people.

Mena is in a really hard place. She’s now a slave. She may have spent a lot of time reading hard core kinky books, and playing slap and tickle and spank with her friends, but fantasy is a lot different than what she is dealing with right now. For one thing, in her fantasies, there was the chance that the Master had some feelings for the woman and her needs were being met. That’s not how Mena feels. She feels like she’s just a piece of furniture and that she is going to be in pain for the rest of her life, and she really wants everything to be done if that’s all it’s going to be. She spends a lot of time fighting with herself. Part of her likes parts of what Mik’kal does, and part of her hates it all, and hates him too.

One of the things that makes this so Sophie is that we get to see Mena’s struggle to accept what is happening to her, if she can accept it. That struggle shows up in a lot of Sophie’s books, and it’s a struggle that I really like to watch.

Ugh, the human captain. At least he’s not the worst person in this book, but I will argue that he’s the second worst.

OK, that’s all for this one. Go check it out! Happy reading!

Leann Ryans-Flawed

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve had an omegaverse book on here. I’m sure you’re all wondering how the fuck that happened. To tell you the truth, I have no clue. But, never fear, Leann is here to break the dry spell with the second book in her Omega Market series, Flawed.

So, here’s our story. Cassie and 5 other omega women have been hiding so that they aren’t collected and taken to the center to be mated off to an alpha. Too bad that their luck has run out. The military raids their hidden home to take them to the center. All of the omegas run away, trying to follow a plan that they’ve made, all but Cassie. She had been injured severely back when she was a child, and she couldn’t walk. She needs to use a wheelchair, but with all the soldiers there, she can’t get into her chair, and she’s willing to sacrifice herself so that her friends can get away. She gets taken to the collection center, but she figures that they will just let her go because she’s injured and has never gone into heat, even at her advanced age of 25.

Terille has been in the service for a long time. He was on the front lines until he was injured, and now he is working on Earth and part of his job is collecting omegas and guarding the center. He’s on the raid that gets Cassie and her fellow omegas. He carries her to the truck and then from the truck into the medical center so that the doctor can check her out. There’s just something about her that Terille can’t get out of his mind, so he decides that he’s going to do what he can to make her his mate.

I think that Terille is a very good man. He wants to make sure that Cassie knows how perfect she is. There isn’t anything about her that stops him, and he wants her even when they think that she won’t be able to go into heat and he won’t be able to bond with her. He’s gruff, and he doesn’t speak much to anyone, but part of that is because he’s got an injured throat, but he makes an effort to talk to her. I like that they are able to spend a lot of time talking and getting to know each other, which lets them have a deeper relationship faster, I think. Not to say that they wouldn’t have had a deep relationship anyway, but I think that it worked really well in their situation.

Cassie is really strong. She’s had to be. She’s survived a lot before she got to Terille. He’ll make sure that she doesn’t have to go through any of that again, but she survived a whole lot, and I have a lot of respect for her for that. She uses that strength with Terille, and he is really respectful about it, I think. He doesn’t do anything that could cut down that strength in her. In fact, I think that he does everything he can to continue to build it up for her.

I think that Terille and Cassie are a great couple, and I would love to see more about them in the future.

I do have to say one thing. I’ve spent the majority of my life involved in various communities of people with disabilities. I’ve talked about my brother before, I think, who had spina bifida. He needed to use a wheelchair in order to get around. The preferred language of people who use wheelchairs is a wheelchair user, and not wheelchair bound, because the wheelchair lets them be free. It’s part of people first language, which works to not define people by a disability, but to define them as a person first. A person with disabilities who uses a wheelchair versus a disabled wheelchair bound person. I am not trying to embarrass anyone or anything, because language evolves and terms change, and not knowing the right one isn’t anything to be embarrassed about. So, there’s that. It didn’t bother my enjoyment of the story in any way, it’s just something that I feel I need to say. 🙂

The whole heat thing made me a wee bit grumpy the way it worked, but I understand why it happened the way it did.

OK, that’s all for today. Go check it out! Happy reading!

Alison Aimes-Stolen

We have another new to me author today, with Alison Aimes and Stolen. This is a futuristic story that has some aliens in it too. It’s a nice combo, and one that I really appreciated.

Here’s our story. We start out with a young DaKar who is living with his father, step-mother, and younger half brother. He half Martian and half elithe, which is the ruling Earther families. Because of that, his step-mother hates him, especially since he’s his father’s heir. One day, the family is throwing a huge ball, and DaKar is staring over the rails at everyone, and there is a beautiful girl that he somehow feels very connected to, and when their eyes meet, all he can think is “Minel”.

Fast forward a few years, and DaKar, who is now a Warlord with his mother’s family, has come back to Earth because his father has died, and he’s got to fight with his idiot brother and evil step-mother to get his rightful inheritance. The elithe want to have very little to do with him because he’s a heathen half-breed, but they still want him around, because juicy gossip. He knows that he’s going to have to fight with everyone to get his estate, but his plan is to get it, sell it off, and then go back home to Phobos. At one of the first balls he goes to, he is out in the garden, being really, really, really friendly with another woman when he happens to look up at a balcony and see a beautiful blonde. The two of them connect, and he starts talking dirty to her, but the woman he’s with thinks he’s talking to her. Nope, not so much.

Lady Aurora has been going around to all the big balls and stealing bits of jewelry. It’ss not that she’s a thief, really. She’s just desperate. You see, she has spent the last year living with her horrible, terrible, disgusting, evil stepfather, and she wants nothing more than to escape. But he keeps a very tight grip on her. Very tight. She doesn’t have any money that she can spend and he keeps all her jewelry for her, so she has to steal and pawn things so that she can try to get the money she needs to escape. One night, as she’s trying to make a clean escape, some ladies come into where she is, so she has to sneak out on the balcony so that she can hide. Then she sees a golden skinned man with a woman in the garden, and their eyes meet.

Turns out that they are having a Martian meeting heat, and they have the start of a soul bond going on, but DaKar isn’t interested, and he tells her that he can control it. Aurora is still just drawn to him, and is aware of him, no matter where he is. And no matter how much DaKar wants to hide it, he’s just as drawn to her too.

I thought that Aurora was really brave. She knows that her stepfather is an evil son of a bitch, and she’s scared, but she’s still taking steps to do what she can to get the fuck away from him. She might not be going about it the right way, because it can be hard to tell real from fake, and she has to seek them to a pawnshop, which means she’s not getting anywhere near what they are worth, and frankly, I think her fence is cheating her, a lot. But, with what few freedoms she has and the space she can get, this is what she can do. So, there’s that. I also think that she’s incredibly fierce. She stands up to people, when she can, and she fights back, when she can. Sometimes she has to stand quiet, but only when she has no other choice. I really like her.

DaKar is a good man who has been through a lot and has been hurt a lot. It takes him a minute to get through all that, but no matter what, his heart is in the right place. He wants to take care of all the little people on the estate, and even goes out of his way to hire people his stepmother and brother had fired. No matter what, his plan is to make sure those people are taken care of. He has a deep streak of honor and courage, and he’s generally pretty smart. Sometimes he’s an idiot, but we all are at some point.

fantasy-landscape-1481192_1920

Ugh, there are so many fucking assholes in this book. Soooooo many.

OK, that’s all for today. Go check it out! Happy reading!

Grace Goodwin-Bachelor Beast

This book gives me all the things I love in the Interstellar Brides universe. We get the Colony and Atlans. I love the Atlans. I want an Atlan of my very own. I keep trying to get one, so I guess I’ll have to keep trying. I also love all the guys on the Colony. They need all the love ever. Which is what leads to the Bachelor Beast.

So, there just aren’t a lot of brides for all the guys on the Colony. Those poor guys can’t really go home because of the Hive contamination, and until recently they were stuck there with no brides, but things have changed. There are still a lot of guys stuck there. But then the Governor’s bride had an idea, why not have one of the guys go down to Earth and do some good positive PR?

Warlord Wulf came down to Earth and he thought that he would just be doing some interviews. Then he found out that he’s going to be doing a reality show called the Bachelor Beast. We all know the basic idea behind those shows. Wulf was given the choice of many nice women, and the goal is that he would find his mate at the end, and offer her his mating cuffs, live on TV of course, and live happily ever after. He has to find a mate, because he’s on the edge with his mating fever, and if he doesn’t get one soon, he’s going to have to go to Atlan to be dealt with. And he has one huge problem. His beast does not want either of the two remaining women. He’s talking to the governor of the Colony, his bride, and their second, and trying to get them to understand, but they are Prillion and not Atlan, so they don’t get it quite as much. At this point, Wulf has some hard choices. Then he walked out on stage, and things start to happen.

Olivia is a makeup artist who was hired to work on the show. Usually she’s gone by the time the show is filmed, but not today. Today she’s switched hoours with her boss so that she can watch the finale being taped live. It’s the first time that she’ll be seeing Wulf live. She’s seen him on the show, since she’s been watching it, but never in person. Well, maybe if she had been in the same room with him before this, the whole show would’ve been different, but she wasn’t and it isn’t. And she’s about to get way up close and personal with Wulf. You see, as soon as Wulf’s beast senses Olivia he knows that he has finally met his perfect mate, and what a beast wants, a beast gets. He knocks over a camera, he smashes the mic in the host’s hand, and it’s damn shame that he doesn’t break the hand of the host, but Wulf is honorable. That doesn’t mean that he isn’t going to grab Olivia, take her to his dressing room and get jiggy with her. But then, things happen, and Olivia ends up running away, and Wulf ends up tranquilized. Thank goodness for Warden Egara.

I love Warden Egara, she is the absolute best. I love how she can pretty much just smack people around, even huge Atlan beasts, using just her words and her voice. It’s not even like she is loud and booming, she’s just her, and she makes things happen. I really, really, really want her to get a second chance at happiness. If you are in either of Grace’s rooms, you will see that Egara is a fan favorite, and everyone wants her to get a new mate or mates. Hopefully it will happen for her. Soon. Please?!?!?!

Olivia is a good woman. She’s has a good heart and she takes care of what is hers. She does have some self-esteem issues, and I bet that working in show business doesn’t make that easier on her. But I really like her. She is so ready to be loved and has so much love to give.

Wulf has shown up in books from time to time, and he’s one of my favorites, because Atlan, but he’s just a good guy. You can see how good he is just from all the ways that he acts. He’s done everything he can to help out the people on the Colony, and that includes doing things like this stupid reality experiment which he hates, but doing it helps the other males on the Colony, both by getting them new brides and by making people aware of those folks. He so deserves a good woman, like, oh, I dunno, Olivia.

camera-973107_1920

Ugh. Chet. Yuck. I hope someone smashes him hard, because he totally deserves it. Same with Ruth.

OK, that’s all for this one. Go check it out! Happy reading!

Nicole Blanchard & K Webster-The Determined Hero

Determined Hero is the 7th book in the Lost Planet series by these talented ladies. And the books just keep getting better and better. I think that part of that is that we already know the world, what’s happening, and have had time to learn more about the characters. Each book is a complete story for the couple, but they have a cumulative storyline, so you really have to read them all, and read them in order.

This is the story of Oz and his Whisper, otherwise known as Quinn. Quinn has stayed unconscious after being taken out of stasis. Oz goes in and talks to her daily. Since he doesn’t know her name, nor does anyone else, he calls her Whisper. Right now, he’s working on his weapon to fight the Kevins coming from Earth II. When he has issues, he goes to talk to his Whisper, and it helps him. He also talks to her about everything under the sun. What he doesn’t know is that Quinn has been awake for the last couple of days and is listening to him. She’s pretending to still be unconscious so that she can learn about the people who are around her and the situation she has found herself in. Then one day, she answers him.

Quinn was a librarian who made a choice that ended her up in stasis on the way to the prison. I would’ve made the same choice she did, in her place, and would definitely have been sitting there just like her, but the powers that be on Earth II were less than happy, and since she was nothing but a lowly librarian, she ended up headed to prison. But now she’s ready to talk to the people around her. She’s also not quite sure what these guys look like, because without her glasses, she can’t make much out. So, she decides that they are spidery aliens. (spoiler: they aren’t)

I really like Quinn. I think that Oz really needed her. She is really strong and protective. There are times when you really see it coming out. I think that she’s also a really calming presence and is willing to make people stop and make some good choices. I think that she’s in my top 3 favorites of the mates.

Oz is a pretty good guy, and I do like him, but I think that he definitely gets to a point where he’s more than a little manic, and I get why he was driving himself to that point, but the problem is when you get to that point, you can’t keep going, and you start to make stupid mistakes. Luckily, for him, Quinn was there, and she made sure that he rested.

I understand why Breccan did what he did. I also completely understand why Galen was so mad at him about it. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s happening with Galen.

OK. That’s all for today. Go check out the whole series. Happy reading!

Leann Ryans-Used

Used is Leann’s latest Omegaverse book. It’s slightly different to her other books. Mostly, because this one has a lot less consensual stuff going on than her other books. Elise goes through a whole lot of stuff in this one.

So, here’s how the way that this world works. Omegas are a commodity. When they come of age, they are supposed to go to a center so that they can be “matched”. For matched, read they are basically placed on a galactic auction site, where all the alphas basically try to buy them. The whole process is supposed to be good for the omegas, and they are supposed to be treated well once they are in the center, but that’s not how it happens. There are terrible doctors who don’t want to be nice to her, and nurses who enable them. But, there is one woman there who befriends Elise and tries to make everything better for her. Her friend helps her with makeup and hair, and promises that she’ll find the best match for Elise.

Fast forward a couple weeks, and Elise has been matched to Tiral. On her trip to his planet so that they can mate, pirates take out the ship she’s on. The pirates want to get to Tiral or his father, because they want them to make some changes. But, nope, they aren’t there. They have Elise.

I like Elise. I think that she is a little naive sometimes, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, really. At the same time that she’s naive, she also has a real understanding of her world and how it works when it comes to certain things.

aircraft-78060_1920

I like Leir, a lot. I like that he’s thinking about all the people and wants to make things better.

OK, that’s all for today. Go check it out! Happy reading!

Octavia Hyde-Nepenthe

I knew a secret. Well, I know lots of secrets. But this one was about how Octavia Hyde and Eris Adderly connect. It isn’t some weird kinky sex thing. Well, it could be, but since they are the same person, it could be slightly difficult to be some kinky sex thing. But since we are talking about Eris and the kinkiest fucking tentacle sex book I’ve ever read, I’m not going to put anything past her. Nepenthe has all kinds of fucking, sucking, and tentacles, so if you aren’t into that, I’m so sorry.

So, here’s the story. We have two species that are both dying out. The humans have fled Earth and found a planet that they thought that they could colonize. Except, nope, it wasn’t. Most of the humans have died, painfully and nastily, but there are a few survivors around. Then we have the Nepenthe, who are shape shifting, mind reading, tentacled aliens looking for people to carry on their species.

Nepenthe is broken down into 3 stories. We have Hypatia, Yesmin, and Kiral. Each human is with a different Nepenthe partner. They are all filthy, I mean not just filthy, but FILTHY. Eris writes filth oh so very, very, very, very well.

So, Hypatia is the first one in the book. She’s near death when a purple alien with the upper half of a human body and tentacles below his hips comes across her. And when I say comes across her, what I really mean is that he comes inside her.

Then we have Yesmin. She is one of the other survivors found and rescued by the Nepenthe. When Io Rae, who mated Hypatia, comes to the humans and tells them what’s going on, she takes the lead. She makes some arrangements for the 2 species to maybe be able to work together.

Kiral is a guy holding secrets. While the humans and Nepenthe are starting to pair off for fun and games and to have somewhere to sleep, he spots someone who seems to hide the same kind of secrets. And it’s definitely game on.

I love that we get authors who are willing to write and share all this filthy filth, especially when you get into the “weird” or taboo subjects. We may get laughed at for reading tentacle porn, but you know that to come out and admit that you wrote it is got to be hard sometimes. Romance and erotica writers already get a hard time just for writing something that most of the world doesn’t value, which is ridiculous. I like reading serious, classical literature and history books, but my brain needs the fiction and the romance and the juicy stuff. I know that I’m not the only person. Those people act like romance and erotica hasn’t been around since people learned how to make images with paint on cave walls and rocks.

Anyway, I like being able to read the really weird, kinky, taboo, tentacle-y, sucker-y, whatever stuff, so I’m happy that author like Eris come up with Octavia Hyde, or the person who is hiding behind MD Pentacles came up with that nom de plume. We get a chance to read this stuff and hopefully get more.

I really hope that we see more of the Nepenthe, because I would really love to see more of the surviving humans as well as catch up with Hypatia, Yesmin, and Kiral.

As a sidenote, every time I read Hypatia’s name, I thought of the porn star Hypatia Lee. She retired around the area where I used to live in Southern Indiana.

I’m going to be giving away a copy of Nepenthe this weekend in my group, so if you aren’t there, come join me.

There aren’t any spoilers today, because there just aren’t. So, say congratulations to Eris Adderly, go check this out on Zon, and happy reading!
