2022 was a bit of a dumpster fire. It wasn’t as bad as 2020, but then I think it would be nearly impossible for anything to be as bad as 2020. But it wasn’t good.
In my personal life, I started out 2022 with vertigo. It actually kicked in around February and didn’t really go away until June-ish. This means that I spent a lot of time just dizzy as fuck. That, of course, made driving interesting, and since I am currently the only driver in my house, I didn’t necessarily go a lot of places. I did see my doctor about it, but even now, we’re not sure why I had it, and we’re not sure why it’s gone, but it’s gone, so I’m just going to be happy with that.
Then in June, instead of being able to enjoy not being dizzy, I hurt my knees. I hurt both knees within a week of each other. My knees aren’t great, they haven’t been great for decades. I had a lot of trauma to both knees, but especially my right knee, while I was growing up. In 2000, I tore my right ACL by trying to learn how to ice skate. I lasted for about an hour on the ice before I fell and tore my ACL. 0 out of 10 do not recommend. I had surgery to repair that, which worked well, but that leg doesn’t go completely straight anymore. I also have arthritis in both knees, oh, worse in my right knee. I’ve had surgery to scrape some of the damage out of it in the past, and I’ll probably need that again soon. I am only 50, and I’m overweight, so a knee replacement is not in the near forecast for me. I now use a walker when I leave the house. I should have been using a cane for years, but I hate using a cane so I never did. I have a rollator, which is a walker that rolls and has a seat so I can sit when I need a break. It is a level up in my disability, which frustrates me, but it is also a way to have more mobility and more freedom. So it’s a trade-off.
In 2023, I am going to work on writing more in the blog since I haven’t written a whole lot lately. My goal is to publish at least two posts a week, and maybe free. But definitely two. That way I am still able to share my reading with you guys, but I am not burning myself out. Don’t forget, that my day job is also writing, only 400 word articles instead of blog posts. Writing 2800 words before I write a blog post sometimes means my brain is jelly at the end of the day.
Anyway, I have two new books from E.J. Frost coming up, the newest one from Kaye Elle Parker, one from Nicolina Martin, as well as some backlog books. My keyboard is still fucked up, and I haven’t gotten a Bluetooth keyboard yet, so I have a dictation program, and I am dictating this post as I speak. Pun fully intended.
Okay, that’s all the news that’s fit to print from me. And frankly, I’m not sure that it’s all that fit to print. I will be back on Wednesday with a new book to review. See you then!
