EXCERPT:

I wrap my arms around his neck as he pulls me into the office and closes the door behind him. Not bothering to deny his words, seeking his strength and command, I whisper, “I feel…”

I don’t know what else to say, how else to resist a man so able to shatter my every resistance. Everything about this is wrong. So very wrong. I’m his captive. Nothing more.

I run my fingertips up the center of his chest and then across to his upper arms. Desire floods through me as I touch him. Not attempting to strike him or push him away. No, I want to stroke his flesh, to feel his muscles flexing beneath my fingertips, each caress increasing the heat that swamps my senses.

He holds me still, lowering his head, kissing the side of my neck with parted lips. He seduces me not with force, but with gentleness. “Tell me to stop,” he commands. “I want to steal the kiss. I want to steal your body. I want to take what is mine.”

I shake my head. I’m not going to obey him on this. I don’t think I can survive if he pulls away again. I don’t want to risk him actually stopping if I say so. Not when my entire body is on fire with a need that has to be quenched.

“No.” It’s the only word I can barely whisper. Speech is conquered by sexual need. “You don’t have to take. I want to give.”

In one quick movement, Nick scoops me up into his arms and carries me to his desk. My body melts against the hardness of his chest, my tongue dancing with his in the depths of his mouth.

I need more, need to feel his skin against mine.

Hastily, I pull his jacket off, his shirt up over his head, and run my hands down his chest. I revel in how smooth and sleek his skin feels against my fingertips, each muscle clearly defined. Sexual attraction takes on a whole other meaning at that moment.

Nick moans as he kisses me deeper, guiding me onto the wood of the table below. With movements as graceful as a skilled craftsman, he removes my clothing, drawing the dress over my head and lowering my panties effortlessly. I shiver, not with cold, but with need. I moan when he removes my bra, his fingertips running over my breasts, each stroke a promise of what’s to come.

My entire body screams for his touch as he lowers his head and gives both of my nipples a kiss, his hands sliding down to slip beneath the curve of my ass. I lift my hips to ease the journey, my heart demanding he hurry, my soul aching for him to take me. To claim me as his.

Despite my whimpers, my pleas to plunge into me, to fill my empty pussy, he takes his time, my mind swirling as he places soft kisses over every inch of skin he’s exposed. Pleasure escalates with each touch and with every moment I lay beneath his weight, but it’s too slow.

“Now,” I demand. “I need you, now.” Reaching for him, I find my hands taken, my arms lifted above my head.

“You’re not running the show,” he says, guiding my hands to the sides of the desk. “Grab on and don’t let go.”

Not sure if the wood feels cold because I am so hot, so needy, I welcome the coolness as I wrap my fingers around the edge. The very act of obeying, of submission, causes my mind to rebel but only for the briefest moment as Nick settles over my body.

His entire being screams primal male, and my whole body shudders, my desire ratcheting higher. His thick thighs hug either side of my hips; his pants undone with his cock, standing straight out from his body, lying along my stomach, hard as a rod of steel, thick and heavy.

My mouth floods with saliva, the desire to lick up his shaft, has my tongue running along my bottom lip, and my hand moving to reach for the cock I so desperately need to taste.

“No,” he says, instantly reaching to capture my hand, guiding it back to the desk.

“But I want to touch you,” I nearly hiss in need.

“It’s not about what you want, it’s what you need,” he says.

Blurb:

Nick Hudson has a dangerous reputation.

That’s what I need if I’m going to survive.

Desperation makes me seek out a ruthlessly powerful billionaire.

I need protection.

He demands my virtue as payment.

I’m falling into a world of luxury and sin.

With every twist and turn, I need more.

Except this is not a man to love.

This is a man to fear.

His obsession grows. So does the threat, until I’m trapped in a world of depravity. I’ll need more than Nick’s strength to survive. I’m going to need his heart.

K Webster-Death Wish

Honestly, I do not know why I ever even doubt K. Every time I think that she can’t redeem a character or make me like someone, she pulls it out, and I end up liking them. Or, at least, liking them most of the time. I won’t say that I constantly adore Sparrow, Scout, and Sully, but I do like them and understand them a lot more. Death Wish was a good story, and one that I thought worked really well with the first book and Ash’s story. So, let’s talk about this one. There are likely to be spoilers for the first one, mostly because this one picks up where the last one left off, but I will try to keep them down.

So, Landry has managed to run away from her evil father with her younger sister, Della. She thought that she was getting help from a friend and was going to end up with Ford, which whom she had been creating some kind of relationship. The problem is, when she shows up at Ford’s house, she finds out that he isn’t really who he says he is. He is actually a set of triplets named Sully, Sparrow, and Scout. And they have been acting like her friend on the order of their uncle, who has ulterior motives.

Landry ends up locked in a bedroom with one of the triplets, separated from her sister, and being told that she is now all theirs, and she shouldn’t cause a fuss, because that will upset her sister. Eventually, there is a meeting in between the triplets and Landry, and they try to figure out what to do. Landry is terrified that her father will find her and Della, and what will happen when he does. So, she plots and plans about how to get away from Sparrow, Scout, and Sully. Meanwhile, they are all fixated on her, and they want to make sure that she is theirs.

The guys may all look alike and sound alike, but each of them has a very specific personality. And each personality fits a part of Landry and gives her something that she needs. I don’t think that one person with all those personality traits would’ve worked for her. I think that’s because one person couldn’t have those traits as developed as each of the triplets have them, if that makes sense. All I know is that they are good for her. And they take good care of Della too, even if she is a brat at times. And I think that Della likes to be a brat.

Landry really comes into her own in this one. She really doesn’t take a lot of stuff laying down. It took her a minute to figure things out, but as she did, she started changing herself and becoming more who she was than she had been before. I really like her. I think that she is really smart and very brave. I think that there are times that she is a little too good for the world, because of how loving her heart is. I think that’s a weird thing to say, considering everything that she has gone through in her past, but there is still that bright shine of goodness about her.

I really, really, really hate Landry’s dad. I mean, totally despise him.

OK, that’s all for this one. I still love any and everything K Webster writes. Go check this one out. Happy reading!

EXCERPT:

The thought of being in control of a situation, for once in my life, is gratifying. Empowered by that thought, I ignore them.

They say they like to play games.

Well, boys, I’ll play.

“So, Sparrow and I had sex today,” I say around a mouthful of fried rice.

Sparrow curses under his breath and Sully chokes on his food for a second. Scout doesn’t react, continuing to eat as though my revelation doesn’t bother him.

“He says I’m his,” I taunt, unable to stop now that I’ve started. “Is that true, Scout?”

Poke the beast, Landry. Terrific idea.

I’m so used to tiptoeing around the monster in my life, that these guys pale in comparison.

“Ours,” Scout clarifies, his nostrils flaring.

He’s not as apathetic as he’s trying to be.

“So how does this whole sharing thing work?” I continue with a saccharine smile sent Scout’s way. “Am I completely off-limits to Sparrow while you’re gone? Or are we just sleepover buddies who cuddle? What if Sully wants a piece? If there are rules to this stupid arrangement, I’m pretty sure we broke them. Oops.”

“Why are you doing this?” Sparrow demands, hurt shining in his maple eyes.

“Why not?” I shovel more food into my mouth, ignoring their intense stares.

“Yeah,” Sully chimes in. “What are the rules, because I’m pretty pissed that all I am in this situation is the fucking babysitter?”

“No one asked you to babysit,” I snap, glowering at him. “Maybe you three can schedule in who watches Della while the other two take turns tag-teaming me.”

Sparrow shoves his container away from him. “Enough. You’re just trying to rile us up and it won’t work.”

But it will.

They’re all getting pissed. I can see it all over their matching faces. Jealousy. Possessiveness. Each of them wants me all to themselves. I’m not a fucking pie you can cut into three sections and separate equally.

“I’m done eating. Scout? Is it your turn?”

“Stop,” Sparrow growls. “I said that’s fucking enough.”

“You’re not the boss,” I bite back, pointing at Sparrow. “Is he? Scout, are you the boss?”

“Honey,” Sully starts, his voice soft like he’s trying to calm me.

“I’m not your honey! I’m your stupid toy!” I yell in a mocking tone. “Take your turns! Use me up! Come on, Scout. It’s our turn to fuck!”

Push. Push. Push.

I crave to push all three of them right off the edge.

Raisa Greywood-War’s Peace

First, let’s congratulate Raisa on her entry into the world of full time authoring! It’s a big step to make, so yay! Now, let’s talk about her book. War’s Peace is the first book in a new series, the Club Apocalypse series. The series is about 4 military buddies, named after the 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse. They have all retired, and now they have an adult resort, Club Apocalypse, that is a very kink friendly hotel and dungeon. We pick up the story with protestors outside, the dungeon empty, and the hotel on the brink of failure. Mark, AKA War, is in charge of the dungeon.

At a morning meeting, Mark and his friends and partners are talking about what they need to do. One of them says that he’s hired a fixer named Kendra. She’s worked for other hotels and resorts and kept them from failing, so she should be able to do the same here. Mark protests that they don’t need anyone to come in and fix their hotel for them, they are doing fine, just fine, and she had better leave his dungeon alone. Needless to say, Mark isn’t coping well with everything going on, including the crazy protestors out front, protesting the “whores” inside their hotel, who don’t exist, but you know, try explaining that to crazy conservatives.

Then, we have Kendra. She isn’t supposed to show up until Monday, but she drives in early. She wants to see what’s really what, not the nice cleaned up bit that the owners generally show her. She checks in, grabs her phone, gets a tour, and starts making notes on her phone. All of a sudden, Mark grabs her phone away from her and tells her that phones aren’t allowed, and didn’t she see the signs? Except, there weren’t any signs, so how could she have seen them?

Anyway, Mark isn’t happy, so he hauls her up to her suite, and then tells her to stay there. But, Kendra isn’t about to take that kind of nonsense from him, so she gets all cleaned up and dressed up and goes to the restaurant, run by Jake, another of the Horsemen. Of course, she runs into Mark there, and boom goes the dynamite.

Kendra and Mark are explosive together, and yeah, sometimes I really thought that there would be actual explosions. They really butted heads a lot, especially in the beginning. I totally get where both of them are coming from. They both have their own control issues and they have problems letting them go. Kendra and Mark both have their own trauma too, which sometimes gets in the way of everything else.

One of the things that I really like about Kendra is that she shows that you can be subby in the bedroom and totally kickass and HBIC outside of it. When she was doing her job, she totally ruled everything, and frankly, I think she might’ve even scared Mark a couple of times. I know that a couple of the other Horsemen worked really hard to stay on her good side. Frankly, I would too. I also like the fact that she wasn’t against experimenting in a lifestyle she hadn’t participated in before, but that she had been interested in.

Mark needed to be smacked sometimes. I understand not liking change and feeling the need to control a situation, especially after having been in a bad situation like, oh, you know, war, and suffering from PTSD and the lack of control that can come from everything. That must be so hard for a Domly type who needs to have that control in his life. But, he has some serious anger issues when it comes to Kendra, in the beginning. I think he felt threatened, threatened made him scared, scared made him angry. Not that he felt Kendra was going to hurt him or anything, but the resort and dungeon, especially the dungeon, is his child. He and his friends literally bled to get the money to buy it. They have put so much work and love into it, and he feels like she’s going to take it, change it, and make it not theirs anymore, and that is what threatens Mark. So, he reacts like a human does, because we all have these brain chemicals and learned reactions, and gets pissed and yells at the person who is threatening him. I think that working with Kendra and then being in a relationship with her will be a really good journey for him.

I can’t wait for the next books in the series. We get a pretty good look at which couples are going to end up as couples, I think, and I’m going to be really happy if I’m proven right.

OK, that’s all for this one. Go check it out! Happy reading!

Dani Rene-A Death to Seek

It’s been a minute since I’ve had a Dani Rene book on my blog, so I think it’s time to fix that. A Death to Seek is the 3rd book in the Thornes & Roses series, and it’s the last one in this series. You could probably read this as a standalone, if you wanted. There are mentions of Finn’s brothers and their wives, which are the subjects of the first two books, but nothing that is really going to make it hard for you to get caught up in this book. Mostly any mentions of the prior couples have a small explanation around it for people who haven’t read the other two. You will, of course, enjoy this story more if you have read the other two.

I’m going to do something that I very rarely do. I’m going to give you a trigger warning about this series. Each book deals with a difficult subject, and they can be hard for people to read. The first book deals with self-injury, the second with addiction, and this one deals with suicide. Dani doesn’t glorify the subjects, but they are talked about, and they can be triggering for some people. Please be careful of yourself and read responsibly.

Finn is the youngest of the 3 Thorne brothers, but he is as broken as his other two brothers. The fact that his mother walked away from the family when he was young, which really hurt him since they were close. Then, he lost his first love in a terrible way. He was almost frozen until he met Jarred. Meeting Jarred was an amazing thing for him, because Finn woke up and realized that Jarred was everything for him.

Jarred had run away from home years before, and drifted around the country until he ended up in Thorne Haven, and was hired as a gardener by Finn’s dad. He saw all the very attractive Thorne boys, but it was Finn that caught his attention, and that was all she wrote.

Several years after Jarred and Finn started their relationship, it’s still going, but in secret. They are relatively happy in their relationship, but things are about to change. Finn’s dad has just told him that he’s about to get married. It’s an arranged marriage to a young woman named Zaria.

Zaria is just 18. Her father has just committed suicide, her mother isn’t emotionally available, and Zaria is expected to portray the perfect princess. She’s an influencer on social media, but she gets all kinds of horrible comments, and they are so hard on her. But, she just puts that all inside a little box, and tries to repress it, but it never works.

Jarred, Finn, and Zaria are all broken in different ways. They have each been abandoned in one way or another, and they are all afraid of that happening again. They all have walls, although Jarred and Finn have been together long enough that they have broken down some of those walls. Zaria is willing to work on breaking down her walls as long as they are going to work on breaking down their walls too.

There is some drama, because there is always some drama. But, there is also a lot of love, some really hot sexy times, and a lot of people growing up and figuring out who they are.

This was a great book, and it is was the perfect end to the series. It is a good series, and I do recommend it, just be careful of yourself if you might be triggered by the things that I mentioned. I’m not too proud to admit that while I read some dark, dark, dark stuff, there are things that trigger me, and I have to be careful sometimes.

OK, that’s all for this one. Go check it out! Happy reading!

HOSTED BY:

EJ Frost-Gabe’s Girl

Did I read every word of Gabe’s Girl on Vella? Yes. Did I stay up late on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights so I could read the episodes at 12:01 am? Yes. Did I read this as soon as I got it? Also yes. Will I do the same thing with the next book? Well duh!

There are going to be spoilers for Teddy’s Boys in this review. Sorry, not sorry. I’ll try to keep them down, but it’s kinda hard to miss them.

So, Darwin has forced Gabe to publicly dump Teddy and date him. Teddy isn’t going to let this stand, but she has to figure out how this is going to happen. Meanwhile, Charlie is there, supporting Teddy and secretly speaking to Gabe. Charlie is going to help Teddy to get their boy back, no matter what, and all three of them can have their relationship together.

Teddy sneaks into Gabe’s room and finds out what she needs to do to break the deal that he made with Darwin. She gets to talk to him for a little while and figures out what she needs to do. She doesn’t tell Gabe too much, but he figures it out. Then she and Charlie create the engagement rings for the three of them, and Teddy goes to ask Gabe on a day when Darwin is there. The plan is that her greater claim of engagement of marriage will supersede the claim that Darwin has. So she asks, it works, and Darwin absolutely fucking loses it. I mean, not just loses it, but LOSES IT.

He loses it to the point that he fully manifests a firebird and tries to burn Gabe and Teddy to death. They are able to merge their magic and cover him in Earth and Water, and try to protect themselves. It mostly works. Gabe is pretty much unhurt, but Teddy does take a beating. But the plan works. Gabe is free of Darwin and engaged to Teddy and Charlie.

I didn’t think that there was anything that would make me like Darwin. I was totally set to despise him forever. But… Never say never. EJ did a great job of starting the redemption process on Darwin. We get to see a different side of him, a more vulnerable side of him. We don’t necessarily learn more about his backstory, but we get hints of it. I really want to find out more than just those hints. I think that we will probably get that in this next book, but I really can’t wait.

I really like Charlie in this one. I mean, I liked him before, but I think that he really came into his own in this one. He has become the steady rock that both Gabe and Teddy can lean on. Gabe and Teddy are both strong characters, but even the strongest person needs to have someone to lean on so that they can continue to be strong. He is just a great guy to have on your side.

Poor Gabe. He has gone through so much, and it is really obvious in this one. I’m so glad that he has Charlie and Teddy there to support and shield him.

Teddy is really getting stronger magically in this one. She’s doing a lot of research into various things, and is learning so much. I can’t wait to see what is going to happen with her.

The end knocked me over, and I can’t wait for the next book. I mean, damn.

OK, that’s all for this one. Go check it out! Happy reading!

Golden Angel-The Duke’s Pursuit

Golden is back and we’re headed back to the Regency era with The Duke’s Pursuit. This is a second chance type story, and we all know how I feel about the second chance trope, considering I’m living in my own second chance romance. Let’s get into the story.

Three years ago, Phillipa was madly in love with Everett, the Marquess of Hartington. He was in love with her too. He wanted to marry her, but his parents put their foot down about it, because her father was (gasp) a tradesman. But he was obviously a good enough tradesman that his daughter took part in the Season with the ton, so there’s that. When Everett told her about his parents, she told him that she would wait for him, but not very long. In order to get back at her, Everett went and kissed another woman and made sure that Phillipa saw it. She ran off and married the Earl of Essex.

Now, she’s been a widow for the last 18 months. It’s time for the Season again, and she’s heading to London to participate, see her friends, and catch herself a lover or three. She’s been alone for a while, and frankly, she’s horny as hell. As a widow, as long as she’s discreet, she can have those lovers.

At a ball, Everett is hanging out with his group of friends, who are all rakes and the wrong sort. One of his friends places a bet with him about who can seduce a beautiful widow first. They send in a 3rd party to choose which woman they will try to seduce this year. He finds a beautiful woman, dances with her, and then heads back out to all the friends. The beautiful woman that he found? The Dowager Countess of Essex, also known as Phillipa. Everett is slightly freaked out when he realizes.

I really like Phillipa. She knows what she wants, and she has no problems going out to get it. She’s also open to trying out a whole lot of new experiences. I think that she has really has a lot of guts, and she isn’t going to take any shit from anyone at all. In fact, I think she really wishes a bitch would. Like I said, I really like her a lot.

Everett, OTOH, is really unsure as to what’s going on, I think. He has one idea of what’s happening, but there are actually about 5 other things happening, and poor Ev, just no idea. I mostly like him too, but I think that he counts on his charm a little too much. He thinks that it’s going to get him what he wants, but I think that it really isn’t all that he wants.

I like that Golden turns the typical male and female roles around here a bit, at least I think she did. It really gives some dimension to the story and makes it stand out.

OK, that’s all for today. Go check it out! Happy reading!
