Yeah, I know it’s been a while, and I’m sure that I can probably come up with some excuse, we all know it’s just that life is fucked up, things happen, and we all try our best. But, I’m here now, and I should be getting back to more frequent posts. Fingers crossed, at least.
OK, all that said, let’s get into Golden Angel’s new book, Dungeon Showdown. It’s the 3rd book in a series. I have to admit that I haven’t read the other two, even though I have them on my Kindle, but I didn’t feel lost or confused. I was able to figure out what was going on with no problems.
So we start with Cyana, a Domme, and Aiden,a Dom. They are good friends, and part of a larger friend group. The other people in their friend group are 2 couples. They are getting ready to renew their vows and the other couple is getting married. Cyana and Aiden are the only two single people in their group. They made a bet. Aiden said that the couples wouldn’t want to share their day and have a double ceremony. Cyana said that they would. The loser would submit to the winner.
Well, it turns out that yes, the couples did want to share their big day, and they are going to have a double ceremony, and Aiden now has to submit to Cyana, for one night. They do it at her house, no one else knows, and it’s all in private. It’s only going to be that night, and then they will go back to being friends again. Only, it doesn’t turn out that way. Aiden likes the night, more than he thought he would, and it turned him into a dickopotomous.
I really enjoyed this story. But the thing that I liked most about it is that Cyana and Aiden are my age. Cyana deals with issues that I have. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I enjoy reading about 22 year olds getting dicked down, but it is really nice to see someone that I can relate to so well. There is some true power in representation.
I like Cyana. I think that she has a very pragmatic and realistic view of what is going on. That doesn’t mean that she isn’t getting her feelings hurt or that some of what happens doesn’t hurt her deeply, but I think that she really does see what’s going on. I think that between her and Aiden, she has the best case for being the injured party. I got mad at Aiden on her behalf. I mean, I understand why Aiden was acting like he was, but he still made me really mad.
I mostly liked Aiden. But, that being said, there are a couple of times where he’s got some borderline toxic masculinity going on as well as a couple of places that felt almost misogynistic. I get that he was questioning himself during those times, and those times could really give his character a realistic feeling that might not show up otherwise, but they were still a little uncomfortable for me. There is one scene, the basketball game, where I got mad both for and at Aiden.
Anyway, I’m going to have to go back and read the other two books now so I can get the stories of the other couples.
