Cari Silverwood-Isak and Red

Cari is back to her Mesmer world, and she hasn’t missed a step when it comes to that world. Isak and Red is dark, twisted, kinky af, and pretty much everything I really wanted to have. While there are several Mesmer books, this one is a direct sequel to Used.

For those who don’t remember what the Mesmers are or who aren’t familiar with the world, here’s a quick catch up. The Mesmers are always men. They have a thing in their brain that lets them control women. And I mean, completely control women. They can also wipe the memories of women. And, predictably, they are all pretty much fucked up AF. Some of the stuff these guys do is dark, disturbing, twisted, and kinky.

In this book, we have Isak and Red. He’s the Mesmer, and she’s the woman that he’s fascinated with and has controlled for years now. He’s done all kinds of things to her and to other women over the years, and now, he’s trying to figure out what to do next. He’s actually, if you can believe it, a little bored. He’s really done everything possible, twice. But then, some bad guys show up, and they want to figure out how Isak does what he does, and they have no problems hurting him or Red to find out how.

Isak and Red manage to get away, and Isak wants to try something new. He wants Red to teach him how to be human again. Which, you know, is an interesting choice. The thing is, he’s telling Red that he wants to be more human, but he’s telling himself that he doesn’t.

Oh man, there are so many things I want to say about this, because I am left with so many questions and thoughts after having read it, but if I talk about the things that I want to, then I’m going to spoil every damn thing. And I do mean every.damn.thing.

So, let’s just say that these guys are living in my head, and I have woken up a couple of times in the night wondering about the ending since I read it. I wonder how much anyone knows about what has happened or what their life is like now. It is definitely one of those stories that is going to live in my head for a while, and I will probably randomly wonder about my questions for years.

I would love to see more about Isak and Red, but I think that we are probably done with their story. I don’t know that Cari could do anything more with them, really, not without completely messing up who they are now, and I’m not entirely sure that I want them to be messed up, you know?

OK, nothing under the picture. Go check it out! Happy reading!
