Rough is the first book out of Vanessa and Renee’s new co-written series. You get the best of both worlds with this book. You get the cowboys that Vanessa writes and you get the hot alpha shifters that Renee writes. And if there is a lot of sexy tension? Well, both ladies are good at that, so yay!
Boyd is a super duper world champion rodeo rider. He’s also a shifter. His last name, Wolf, is the perfect name for him. Today, he’s back at home, about to be riding a bull for at least 8 seconds. But first, he wants to go find his friend, who happens to be seeing the arena doc because he broke his finger. When Boyd gets there, he discovers that the arena doc isn’t one he’d ever met before. She’s a beautiful woman. And oh yeah, she’s his mate. And human.
Audrey is new to this corner of Montana. She is an OBGYN who wanted to get out to the big sky, beautiful mountains, and clear air. Today, she is acting as the arena doc at a rodeo, which isn’t a hardship, because hot cowboys. Then in walks Boyd, who is the hottest cowboy in the history of hot cowboys. She goes to watch him, which works, right until he gets distracted and gored by the bull he’s riding. She runs to the rescue, and to take him to the hospital, which is where things start to be a problem.
I like Audrey. I think that she is truly concerned about the people who she is supposed to take care of. She worries about Boyd and his health, because he obviously was hurt badly, so she needed to go check on him. I think that she has a very sweet heart, and that she loves the magic of the world, even when she wants to say that she’s strictly a scientist, but babies being born is magic, no matter what.
I think that Boyd has a good heart, but he’s also got some issues that he has a hard time getting past. I don’t blame him, those things would be hard for anyone to handle, really, and I might have felt the same way. I think that he waited a little long to talk to Audrey about certain things, but love is kinda hard to work with sometimes.
I’m looking forward to seeing more of this world, because I want to see what happens with Boyd’s brother and if Audrey’s sister shows up.
I personally think that Boyd’s brother and Audrey’s sister are going to end up together, so I’m looking forward to see if that happens.
