I knew a secret. Well, I know lots of secrets. But this one was about how Octavia Hyde and Eris Adderly connect. It isn’t some weird kinky sex thing. Well, it could be, but since they are the same person, it could be slightly difficult to be some kinky sex thing. But since we are talking about Eris and the kinkiest fucking tentacle sex book I’ve ever read, I’m not going to put anything past her. Nepenthe has all kinds of fucking, sucking, and tentacles, so if you aren’t into that, I’m so sorry.
So, here’s the story. We have two species that are both dying out. The humans have fled Earth and found a planet that they thought that they could colonize. Except, nope, it wasn’t. Most of the humans have died, painfully and nastily, but there are a few survivors around. Then we have the Nepenthe, who are shape shifting, mind reading, tentacled aliens looking for people to carry on their species.
Nepenthe is broken down into 3 stories. We have Hypatia, Yesmin, and Kiral. Each human is with a different Nepenthe partner. They are all filthy, I mean not just filthy, but FILTHY. Eris writes filth oh so very, very, very, very well.
So, Hypatia is the first one in the book. She’s near death when a purple alien with the upper half of a human body and tentacles below his hips comes across her. And when I say comes across her, what I really mean is that he comes inside her.
Then we have Yesmin. She is one of the other survivors found and rescued by the Nepenthe. When Io Rae, who mated Hypatia, comes to the humans and tells them what’s going on, she takes the lead. She makes some arrangements for the 2 species to maybe be able to work together.
Kiral is a guy holding secrets. While the humans and Nepenthe are starting to pair off for fun and games and to have somewhere to sleep, he spots someone who seems to hide the same kind of secrets. And it’s definitely game on.
I love that we get authors who are willing to write and share all this filthy filth, especially when you get into the “weird” or taboo subjects. We may get laughed at for reading tentacle porn, but you know that to come out and admit that you wrote it is got to be hard sometimes. Romance and erotica writers already get a hard time just for writing something that most of the world doesn’t value, which is ridiculous. I like reading serious, classical literature and history books, but my brain needs the fiction and the romance and the juicy stuff. I know that I’m not the only person. Those people act like romance and erotica hasn’t been around since people learned how to make images with paint on cave walls and rocks.
Anyway, I like being able to read the really weird, kinky, taboo, tentacle-y, sucker-y, whatever stuff, so I’m happy that author like Eris come up with Octavia Hyde, or the person who is hiding behind MD Pentacles came up with that nom de plume. We get a chance to read this stuff and hopefully get more.
I really hope that we see more of the Nepenthe, because I would really love to see more of the surviving humans as well as catch up with Hypatia, Yesmin, and Kiral.
As a sidenote, every time I read Hypatia’s name, I thought of the porn star Hypatia Lee. She retired around the area where I used to live in Southern Indiana.
I’m going to be giving away a copy of Nepenthe this weekend in my group, so if you aren’t there, come join me.
There aren’t any spoilers today, because there just aren’t. So, say congratulations to Eris Adderly, go check this out on Zon, and happy reading!
I love Eris writing filthy! And I wouldn’t have known this was one of her pen names, or bought the book without the “secret” so thank you for spilling!
