Nicole Blanchard & K Webster-The Uncertain Scientist

We’re back in K and Nicole’s scifi romance world, with just a few Morts and the few human women that they have managed to come across. The Uncertain Scientist is Jareth, Sayer, and Grace’s book. And I think that it is the best one to date. It’s an amazing book with so much love, anger, sadness, yelling, passion, and information. I have to admit that in my head, Jareth totally looks like Jareth the Goblin King, with huge bulge and sexy David Bowie voice. Don’t burst my dream, OK? I would probably cry if you did, and no one wants to see a poor book blogger cry, now do they?

So, Grace is one of the human women that the Morts have been keeping in cryosleep. They have decided to wake her up. Only, she’s not all that happy. You see, she’s pregnant. With Sayer’s child. Without her permission. And did I mention she’s a virgin who has never wanted children or even a relationship? Yeah, she’s not a happy camper right now. And she makes sure that Sayer knows it. And that everyone else knows it too.

Meanwhile, Sayer and Jareth aren’t all that happy either. You see, they’ve been mates for years. They’ve been keeping it secret because they don’t think that the other Morts will understand. It’s not something that has happened before. But Jareth and Sayer both keep telling each other that this isn’t going to break them apart. They are excited about the new mortling being born, but Sayer and Jareth don’t want to break up. Jareth is pretty sure it’s going to happen, Sayer keeps telling him that it’s not. But then, as is her way, that bitch Mother Nature gets involved, and things happen.

I love the whole MMF-ness of this book. But it’s more than just the whole MMF aspect. There’s a lot of emotion in this one. Sayer is angry. Jareth is angry. Grace is angry. The other human women are angry. There is a whole lot of fucking anger here. And I’m not going to say it’s not justified on all sides, because it really is. There is a lot of stuff in here to be angry about. There’s also a whole lot of sadness going on in here. The way that Jareth and Sayer feel about each other and how they think that they are going to end up breaking up, especially after the pheromones get to work. Or how Grace thinks she had to do certain things for certain reasons.

I also love the acceptance in this one. There are some places where things that could be awkward or uncomfortable, but instead, there’s a whole lot of just easy acceptance. That was pretty awesome.

I’m really looking forward to seeing how the information we got in this book works out in the next one. I’m also looking forward to seeing what happens with Hadrian.

OMG, when Grace got on the ship I thought I was going to just die. My heart was breaking.

OK, that’s all for today! Go check it out! Happy reading!
