The 3 Ms-Deliciously Decadent

Maddie, Morganna, and Meredith are back with some Deliciously Decadent stories. I love anything that any of them write on their own, Maddie has shown up here a lot, so you probably know that. None of the stories are co-written, but you are getting a bunch of stories gathered together by the 3 ladies, so it’s all good.

Most of these stories are pretty quick to read, like 10-15 minutes, or at least 10-15 minutes for me. There are a few, like Doctor’s Orders, by Maddie, and Creed’s Joy, by Morganna, that took me a little longer to read them. Not a whole lot longer, but some.

There are some that I would probably more consider a slice of life kind of story, because they are just quick peeks at the lives that the couples in them are living. I would Clarissa’s Stern Daddy and Lucy’s Little Weekend, both by Meredith in this category. We just get a little snippet of a larger story. It’s like someone took an hour or a day of your life and put it on a page. Both of these stories are really sweet and loving, and each shows a happy DD/lg relationship, even if Daddy isn’t necessarily all that happy right that second. There is no drama, no angst, just life.

There is one story that made me bawl my fucking eyes out, and it’s hard to do that in a really short story, and this one is. It’s another Meredith O’Reilly story, and she just wanted to kill me, I think. It’s called A Soldier’s Homecoming. On my Kindle, it runs from 58% to 62%, and took about 7 minutes for me to read. Yes, I went back and checked the percentage and the timing on it. I would tell you the page amount, but I don’t get that on most ARCs. I’m pointing out all those stats so that I can emphasize just how much emotion Meredith packed into this story.

Most of the stories are pretty contemporary, but there are a couple of scifi stories tossed in there, just for fun. You also get a nice pirate story in there as well.

All in all, this book is packed full of stories that you can read when you need a lift, or when you only have a couple of minutes, or you just want to read 3 great authors.

I wanted a picture of something that was delicious and decadent, and I think I succeeded.

Brianna Hale-Control Freak

I don’t normally give content warnings on here, but I will on this one. Control Freak talks about anorexia and disordered eating fairly extensively. I know that talking or reading about certain things can trigger people who are dealing with that problem. If you have problems with disordered eating, please take this under consideration before you read this book. Brianna handles it really well and isn’t glorifying it or wallowing in it, but I just need you to be aware. Please read responsibly and make sure you are OK.

Now, on to the book.

Stian is a museum curator who has just driven away his latest assistant. One who was nice enough to use his key to carve the words control freak into the side of his car. He’s been working really hard to set up a Greek exhibit in his museum, but now he has to go to a modern art show. He really hates modern art, but being the top dog at the museum means he gets all kinds of invites. Plus, the artist thinks they are friends, so, you know, he’s kind of got to do it. While he’s there, he sees a young woman nearly fall down the stairs and yells at her.

Lacey is there at her father’s showing because, well, he’s her father. She also helped him out by writing up all the catalog descriptions. She starts being upset because there are so many people there, more than she can handle, so she searches her purse for her affirmations that she uses to help deal with the anxiety from her anorexia, and nearly falls down the stairs. Her father suggests that she goes to see this museum dude that he knows needs an assistant so that she can get a job over the summer. And the rest, of course, is history.

Stian is a control freak. He’s also a perfectionist. He wants everyone to work hard and do their best possible work. But the thing is, he doesn’t expect anything from anyone that he doesn’t expect from himself, and he works really hard and he does expect the best from himself. But, not all his assistants can do that or even get that. Which is why Lacey is pretty perfect for him. She is a pleaser. And she has a great eye for detail. That makes her perfect on all kinds of levels for a bossy, Dom-ly type.

I really like Lacey. And I can really relate to her. I don’t have any eating disorders, but I do fight mental illness. It’s hard to fight that little voice or not so little voice inside your head. There are times when it really just too loud to get away from. But, I think that she’s really brave and a lot stronger than she thinks she is. Strong doesn’t mean never failing. Strong means failing and getting your ass up and trying again. And really, that’s what Lacey does. Like I said, I really like her.

Stian might be a perfectionist and a control freak, but he really is a good and caring man. He deeply cares for Lacey, and he shows that in so many little ways, as well as some big ones. But he takes the time to research anorexia and makes sure that he puts the things that he learned into effect so that he doesn’t cause Lacey any problems. I mean, doing things like policing his language may not seem like a huge thing to do, but it’s those little things that mean everything. He is also occasionally an idiot, but everyone is at some point, so I won’t complain about it too much.

There are times when this book is really intense, but it isn’t dark or anything. There are some times I cried, because, well, there are.

Title: Control Freak

Author: Brianna Hale

Genre: Steamy Contemporary Romance

Release Date: June 27, 2019

Cover Design: Maria @ Steamy Designs

Total control. I need it in every aspect of my life. Some would say that makes me an asshole. A freak. But as long as everything’s exactly how I want it I’m completely flexible.

I’m kidding.

Okay, I’m not kidding.

Lacey needs someone in her life who’s bigger and scarier than her anxieties, and she wants that man to be me. Her boss. The Viking in a suit.

I hope she understands what she’s getting into. This daddy isn’t going to pat her on the head and tell her she’s a good girl for nothing. Especially not when she’s spinning out of control.

I show her the two silver objects on my palm. Nipple clamps. I apply each one, screwing them firmly into place and giving them a small tug so I know they’re secure. I look up and wait a moment, giving her the chance to say orange or red if she needs to.

Her expression is slightly pained, but she doesn’t speak.

I’m not finished yet. I take out two small metal weights on thin silver chain, and I hook each one to the clamps. The tips of her nipples are an angry pink.

‘Do you want to say anything, Lacey?’

She shakes her head firmly, though her lower lip is caught between her teeth and her gaze is fastened on the other side of the room, as if she’s concentrating hard.

‘That’s wonderful,’ I murmur, tracing her nipples with the tip of a finger. ‘You just stay there.’

I go back to my desk and continue with my work. I don’t look at her, but I’m totally aware of her. She’s breathing more sharply than normally so it must hurt.

Good.

Her silent fortitude is like a drug for me. It’s brutish, liking sweet girls in pain, but it fucking makes my dick hard.

There’s nothing Brianna Hale likes more than a large, stern alpha male with a super-protective and caring streak, and when she’s not writing about them she can usually be found with a book, a cocktail, planning her next trip to a beautiful location or attending the theatre. She believes that pink and empowerment aren’t mutually exclusive, and everyday adventures are possible. Brianna lives in London.

Fighting a Migraine

I am fighting off a migraine today. Yay, right? I’m hoping it will be more under control tomorrow, because that would be nice.

Anyway, tomorrow is Brianna Hale’s new book, and that’s an intense one. Friday is Deliciously Decadent by the 3 Ms.

Here, look at a pretty boy.

Myra Danvers-Delirium

Last week, after I blogged about Livia Bourne’s book and said that scifi was my first love, Myra got in touch with me and told me that she loved scifi and space opera too, and she had one that she thought that I’d like, and she sent me Delirium. And she was right. I loved it. I loved it so much, I think that I might reread it this weekend. If you like harder scifi, space opera, or completely deranged heroines, then this is definitely a book for you to try out.

Iris has spent many years as a space cargo transport pilot. She has her ship, her androids, and her opium, which she grows on her ship. She pays off people so that she can fly under the radar, and she’s very happy being alone. As long as she has her opium and is high, she’s perfectly happy. This is who she is in the After, and it’s good. There’s just one thing that causes her problems, and that is Big Evil, who is floating around somewhere. She’s trying very hard to avoid him, but that’s OK, she has some very shocking plans around for him if he shows up.

You see, Iris isn’t just a junkie pilot. She’s also a Mech. That means that she can McGuyver anything, with even less than McGuyver would need. She could probably make a death ray out of nothing but a chewing gum wrapper and scotch tape. She wouldn’t even need duct tape for that. She’s also a little bit crazy. And by little bit, I mean full-on sociopath with little to no morals and ethics. I love her. I wouldn’t want to be around her, because the amount of chaos that surrounds her, even when she’s asleep, is at an epically high level. I mean, I can’t even describe the chaos when she’s not trying. When she does try, stand the fuck back. I mean allllll the way back.

Myra’s dedication is a thing of beauty, and that needs all the acknowledgment. And now that we have done that, let’s talk about the way that Myra describes things. Her use of descriptive language is beautiful and elegant. It really brings the story to life and pulls you in. I could practically feel the world because of the textures that she created with words. I want to say that it’s not world-building, not quite, maybe it’s world-building adjacent. I’m not saying that Myra didn’t create a rich and wonderful world, because she did, it’s just something different. I don’t think I’m explaining it well, and that’s sad. I guess that means you are going to have to go read it and find out for yourself, won’t you?

One of my favorite heroines in all the books I’ve read is Sigil from Addison Cain. I’m going to have to put Iris right there next to Sigil. And they are totally in a category of their own.

Big Evil and Daxx are definitely interesting. Daxx has no clue what he is doing. And Big Evil? Well, his name is pretty descriptive, don’t you think?

This is one of those books that I’m almost mad that I’ve read because I can never read it for the first time again.

iris-2502898_1920

OMG, that poor Nanny! And the Detox Fairy. And Daxx is just stupid.

OK, go check this out. You’ll thank me. Happy reading!

Renee Rose-His Queen of Clubs Chapter Reveal!

Sorry, Printsessa. Freedom isn’t in the cards for you. You’re mine now.”

I came for revenge.

The Tacone Family wiped out the Chicago mafiya.

My bratva. My family.

So I captured their little sister.

Now that I have her, I don’t want to let her go.

I’d rather keep her forever—my captive bride.

They’ll pay a dowry instead of ransom.

At the end of the day, the girl and the fortune will be mine.

Because I’ll never relinquish their queen of clubs.

Note: This steamy stand-alone romance is the sixth in USA Today best-selling author Renee Rose’s Vegas Underground series. No cheating, no cliffhangers.

Vlad

No fucking way. Just when I thought I was the least lucky bastard on this continent, I catch a break.

I’ve been staking out the Bellissimo and Nico Tacone for two months now.

The Tacones took down my entire cell. Junior Tacone and his brothers destroyed the Chicago operation while I was back in Moscow dealing with my mother’s affairs. Granted, Ivan, my idiot second, planned to take them all out and forever end their reign of influence in the Windy City. But he failed. And six of my men were found dead in an Italian cafe.

Victor put Ivan in charge of setting up the street business, but he was too small-minded and power-hungry to make it into much. And when I was sent to join the cell, he saw me as a threat to his autonomy. I had set up a meet with Junior to get the Tacone family involved in my laundering scheme—to diversify interests—but Ivan fucked everything up. When my mother died and I had to fly home to Moscow, he used my absence to try to eliminate the Italians and take the Chicago underworld for himself.

He underestimated Junior Tacone. Six of our guys ready and waiting with guns, and Junior single-handedly shot them all dead.

I’m not heartbroken over the loss of the Chicago business. I’m more concerned with the big money operations of the bratva. I’m the guy who manages our laundering accounts. But killing all the men in my cell? Unacceptable. And Victor, our pakhan, ordered me to exact revenge, so I’m here to do exactly that.

The Tacones may have done the brotherhood a favor by taking Ivan out, but they still owe me.

Victor would go for blood. Kill everyone Junior Tacone loves. That’s the way he operates. But I’m not that guy. Yes, I was raised in the violence and death of the organization, but I’m the money man.

And the Tacones have money. Plenty of it.

But it’s not coming from their Chicago operation. As far as I can tell, they’d begun shutting down most of their loan sharking on the streets in the past few years, and completely closed shop since I’ve been back.

So I came to Vegas. Where they own one of the most lucrative casinos in the country. And I’ve been watching the two Tacones who run it, trying to figure out what my play will be. I was thinking about taking one of their women. Simple ransom. Both men are clearly devoted to their wives—girlfriends—whatever.

And things just got much easier for me. Two limos rolled up this afternoon carrying the entire Tacone family—the three brothers from Chicago, a girlfriend, a mother, and a beautiful young sister in her early twenties.

I got a gossipy cocktail waitress to tell me everything she knows. I found out they’re here for Junior Tacone’s wedding—a spur of the moment kind of thing. The entire top floors of the casino have been closed off for the celebration. Rumor has it Stefano, the youngest brother, might marry his fiancée at the same time.

But I don’t give a shit about their marital status.

All I care about is one Tacone.

The lovely Alessia—baby sister to all five multi-millionaire brothers. I’d been trying to figure out which female to take—which brother would be most willing to pay for his woman. Now it’s easy. Grab the one they all care about.

And I don’t mean the mother.

Of course my decision to take Alessia over the old lady has everything to do with her model-perfect body, mile-long legs, and fucking gorgeous face. If I’m going to hole up with a Tacone female, it might as well be one who’s worth looking at.

All I have to do is knock out one of the waiters before he brings the food up to the wedding celebration and take his uniform and his place.

Alessia

My brother Junior is the biggest stronzo.

Actually, all five of my brothers are assholes, but Junior’s the worst. He informed us this morning that he and his pregnant girlfriend were going to elope in Vegas.

Tonight.

Which meant we all had to fly to Vegas to see it.

Although, honestly, I wouldn’t have missed this moment for the world. Even if traveling means a lot of work keeping my mother happy and my blood sugar under control. And it makes it harder to hide the fatigue caused by my kidney condition from my ever-watchful family. They don’t know about it and that’s how I’m going to keep it for as long as possible.

We’re up in one of the Bellissimo’s top floors, in a reception area with wall to wall windows overlooking Vegas. There’s a Catholic priest here to marry them. And the event turned into a surprise double wedding.

Stefano, my only easy-going brother—which doesn’t mean he isn’t just as lethal as the rest of them—popped the question to his girlfriend Corey this morning and they decided to make it a two-fer.

“Mary, Queen of Peace, pray for us,” I murmur and cross myself in unison with the rest of the attendees and the priest.

I can’t believe Junior’s remarrying. Well, it’s not the remarrying part that shocks me. It’s the happiness that radiates from him now as he stands facing Desiree, his tough-as-nails bride. He holds both her hands in his, gazing at her like she’s his whole world. Beside him stands her young son. Watching Junior’s quiet bond with him brings me to tears. Junior lost his preschool daughter in a tragic accident years back and shut down completely. I never thought he’d open his heart to love again. Now he’s not only got a baby on the way, but he’s doing the stepdad thing.

“Isn’t it beautiful?” my mom whispers tearily, squeezing my hand.

“Absolutely perfect,” I agree, crying right along with my mother.

Nico’s pregnant wife Sondra went all out on the decor. The hall must have ten thousand dollars worth of flowers. The pillars and real grape vines draping over the trellises make it feel like we’re back in the old country.

Tasteful and extravagant, yet also low-key, the ceremony fits both couples. Only forty or so family members fill the place. It’s made all the sweeter by the two pregnant bellies—Sondra and Desiree are both expecting.

I’m so thrilled to be an aunt. Children are my passion—I got my degree in early childhood education, even though I’ll probably never be allowed to work. Not by my family. Not by whatever husband my family chooses for me.

It stings knowing I’ll never have any of this—the love, the impromptu elopement, a family.

The expectation was always for me, as the Family princess, to endure a huge virginal church wedding to some Made man of my father or brothers’ choosing. No staring into the eyes of a man who loves me. It would be an arranged marriage all the way.

I used to fervently wish for a love match. Back when I thought I’d actually marry and have children of my own. I was overjoyed when Nico got away with marrying a woman of his own choosing instead of the bride he had been promised to from the time he was ten.

I’ve been allowed some freedoms I never thought I’d get.

They let me go to college. I had to campaign for years just to get Junior to consider it, but in the end, he relented. The diabetes almost kept them from letting me go, though. They see me as fragile. Mamma didn’t want me out of her sight. My brothers didn’t think I could handle myself.

They wanted me to stay where they could protect me—in either Chicago or Las Vegas.

But in the end we all compromised. They sent me to university in the Old Country where I could be watched over by La Famiglia. The Sicilians. And my brother Stefano was there part of the time, too, to keep a very close eye on me.

I’m always guarded like a princess in a convent. Which doesn’t mean I didn’t sneak in a few experiences. I stole kisses with a nice Italian boy who took my V-card in the most respectful way possible. But when he found out I was part of the Family, he couldn’t run fast enough. Which was just as well, because I wouldn’t want him to be hurt.

I was just looking to live a little before it’s too late.

Because what my family doesn’t know is that I’m in stage three kidney failure as a result of the diabetes. I’ve been told having children would kill me.

So the love match and babies of my own isn’t ever going to happen.

In fact, if I don’t take care of myself, I may not live to see twenty-five.

Vlad

I return to the Bellissimo with a plan and everything I need to execute it: A syringe filled with tranquilizer. Rope to tie her wrists and ankles. Tape for her mouth. Mikhail—Mika, as we call him— my twelve-year-old accomplice and the only living member of the Chicago bratva, to drive the getaway car.

I get off the elevator wearing the crisp Bellissimo waiter’s uniform, pushing the cart I plan to carry the girl out in.

I leave the cart just outside the door and stand in the doorway, scanning the room. I keep my head down and my tattooed fingers clasped behind my back. If the Chicago-based Tacone brothers recognize me, I’ll be a dead man before I can take a breath. Not that I care. If I were overly-worried about living long, I wouldn’t be here. Ironically, it’s my carelessness with life that always makes me come out on top.

I take risks. I’m never ruled by fear. I saw the way the bratva worked early on and figured out how to come out on top. I made myself indispensable. Not through violence, although I’ve had my fair share, but through knowledge.

I learned how to hack. How to launder. I learned to speak English, German and French. That’s how I won control of all of the bratva’s money. How I amassed a fortune. How I survived countless attacks against me. If the shit with the treacherous Sabina hadn’t gone down, I’d still be on top there instead of lying low in America.

I make a mental note of every weapon-bulge in the room—at least twenty-four. Every man there is carrying a piece—even the grooms. Instead of fear, the familiar buzz of adrenaline sets my skin tingling.

A surreptitious scan of the room and I find the mafia princess. The one I will use to bring every Tacone to his knees.

The one who will learn a little humility at my hands.

I should hate my enemy’s sister—should consider her an enemy too, but it’s hard to hate any creature so beautiful. And it’s not her fault she was born into a ruthless family.

The Italians keep their females pure. The women never participate in business. Never see blood or death.

Hell, the girl may even still be a virgin. Blyat, now my dick’s hard. Now is not the time to get a stiffie over the woman I plan to drug and tie up. Except I’m a sick motherfucker, because that thought only gets me harder.

She’s wearing a hot pink halter dress that frames and presents her youthful breasts in the most mouthwatering way. The matching pink shoes and purse probably cost a grand alone.

Fortune’s smiling on me, because Alessia breaks from the group and heads for the door, like she’s going to the restroom.

I move swiftly, pushing my cart into the hallway behind her, palming the syringe. I remove the false top of the cart, revealing the empty bottom, which is actually one of the Bellissimo’s rolling laundry carts.

I wait until she emerges from the restroom—alone, thank fuck—and jump her from behind. If she were a man, I would just knock her out with my fist, like I did the waiter downstairs. But I can’t bring myself to hit a woman, no matter how easy and effective that might be.

I catch her vanilla and roses scent as I cover her mouth and jab the hypodermic needle into her neck. She struggles against me as the drug moves through her veins. It will take at least a minute to take effect.

“Shh, printsessa,” I murmur in her ear, keeping my grip across her arms and over her mouth, iron-tight. “Relax and you won’t get hurt.” My accent sounds thicker than usual. Probably because my cock just got thicker at the feel of her soft ass wriggling against it. “Easy, zaika. Go to sleep.”

Her intoxicating floral aroma fills my nostrils as I breathe into her neck, waiting. Finally, she goes limp, her supple body sagging in my arms.

I swoop an arm under her knees and drop her into the cart, then put the top back on, arranging the tablecloth over everything. Twenty-nine seconds later I’m in the elevator. One of the Tacones’ men gets on with me. I keep my face blank, but formal.

The guy doesn’t look at me. I palm the knife in my pocket, ready to use it if I have to.

Finally, the guy gets off on a lower floor and a few other people get on—tourists. Nobodies. I hit the door close button and continue downstairs to the lower level.

I text Mika, On my way. I try to use English with him, so he’ll learn to read and write it.

In position, he texts back in Russian. I shouldn’t involve the kid in this shit. Hell, I shouldn’t have even brought him here from Chicago. But what else was I do with him? I came back from my mother’s funeral in Moscow to find six of the brotherhood dead and everyone else gone. Everyone except Mika.

He’d been living alone in the apartment building we occupied, somehow surviving. Probably a greater kindness would’ve been to give him to the American social care system. But I couldn’t do it. He may be an annoyance, but he’s one of ours, and we take care of our own. And he’s working hard to prove himself useful.

In the lower level corridor, I strip off the waiter suit and put on a maintenance staff button down shirt, pull the catering top off the cart and roll it out, like I’m taking out dirty laundry. I wipe my prints from her purse and toss it in the trash.

Mika pulls around to the door and stops with a jerk. Yes, I let a twelve-year-old drive my car. I didn’t even have to teach him—he already knew how. And he’s damn good at it.

“Open the trunk,” I mutter to him in Russian and he complies as I push the cart right up to the back of my black Jetta. I pick up the drugged Tacone princess and drop her into the trunk, then slam it shut.

Twenty-three seconds and we’re out of there.

Mission accomplished. I now have all the leverage I will need against the Tacone pricks.

Alessia comes out with her wet hair falling over her shoulders and a towel wrapped around her.

I shake my head and she stops.

“Drop the towel,” I growl. “You lost your clothing privileges.”

Her nostrils flare. She’s over being turned on and now she’s pissed. “Figlio di puttana!”

I don’t speak Italian, but I get the gist. “Watch it, printsessa, or I’ll smack that ass red again.”

Color tinges her cheeks.

My dick turns marble hard.

Damn, how I want to pound between those legs until she screams.

I clear my throat. “The towel.”

She tosses her hair, sending splatters of water around the room. With one flick of her wrist, she removes the towel and throws it in my face. Lucky for both of us, she’s wearing panties beneath it.

That doesn’t stop my cock from throbbing.

“Over here.” I sound far more gruff than I mean to. That’s what blue balls do to me. I force myself to take a breath before I get near her, before I bind her wrists and tie her to the bed.

She smells like apples and honey. Is that what my shampoo smells like? It can’t. I’ve never smelled anything so erotically alluring before in my life.

I wrap the swath of fabric around her wrists first to keep the rope from biting, then bind her hands together. I attach them to the headboard for good measure, but I leave her ankles free. It has nothing to do with me wanting to watch those long legs thrash around on the bed when she tries to move.

Nothing at all.

Chiah Wilder-Animal’s Reformation

Animal’s Reformation is the latest in Chiah’s Insurgent MC series. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read in this series so far. Overall, I enjoyed this one too.

So, Animal is a member of the Insurgents. He spends his time wenching, drinking, and riding. He has a daughter, but her mother moved away and has really kept them apart. Until the day she shows up, tells Animal that she’s done her part and her new man wants no part of her accident, and drops Lucy off with him. Of course, Animal hasn’t seen his daughter since she was a baby, and that was several years ago. He has no clue what to do, except he knows that he needs to have a house for her.

Olivia has sworn off men after walking into her boyfriend’s apartment to find some stranger bouncing on his dick and him planning a surprise 3 way with this lady. She’s especially sworn off sexy bikers. She knows way too much about bikers, since her father and brother were in a 1% MC. So when her new house is right next door to a sexy biker’s house, she does everything she can to keep their relationship on a superficial level. She wants someone nice and boring.

I overall liked Olivia. She’s pretty fierce when it comes to making sure her students get what they need, and she’s not afraid to go to bat for them. I think that she also pretty much knows what she wants, even if she doesn’t always want to listen to herself about it. I think her trying to swear off men for a little while is a good idea. I think that break in between her latest dick and Animal was good for her. She got to do stuff for herself, like buying her own home.

I think that Animal was a good dad, even before Lucy came to live with him. I mean, he sent presents, money, tried to talk to her, and tried to build a relationship with Lucy. He wasn’t all that successful, but that’s not because he didn’t try, it’s because her mother blocked all his efforts. I didn’t like her at all. He really tried really hard to build up a relationship with Lucy after she moved in with him, and that couldn’t have been easy at all. I think that Lucy was just running on anger, and I have to wonder exactly what her mother told her.

Like I said, I did overall enjoy the book. With that said, I thought that there were some places where it was a little slow. I also thought that there were a couple of little subplots that could have been lost without losing anything from the book. But, there’s still a lot of suspense, action, and passion in the story that it made up for it. Of course, as always, this is just my opinion, and your mileage may vary, but you’re here for my opinion, right?

I thought that Chiah did really well at keeping everyone guessing as to who the bad guy was. I had no clue, and there were enough false leads put in there that it was tricksy.

OK, that’s all I have to say about this one. Go check it out! Happy reading!

Sometimes the last person you want to be with is the one you can’t be without.
A member of the Insurgents MC, Animal is a rough, free-loving biker. Hanging with his brothers, riding his customized Harley, and partying with the ladies are his idea of the ideal life.
Years ago, he made a stupid mistake with a woman he barely knew, but he pays the child support every month and sends cards and presents to his out-of-state daughter on her birthday and on holidays.
He doesn’t want a steady woman, and he certainly isn’t ready to settle down and have a family. Life is just too good now, and there are always so many women who want to come and play with this rugged biker.
Then one afternoon, the mother of his child struts into the clubhouse with his daughter in tow and tells him she’s done. She walks away, leaving Animal and Lucy staring at each other.
What’s he supposed to do? He knows about bikes and hard partying, not seven-year-old girls.
He has to change his ways, and his new hot next-door neighbor isn’t helping to keep his libido in check. The way her long dark hair swings just above her sweet behind has him thinking all kinds of nasty thoughts, but she doesn’t give him the time of day.
What’s up with that?
Olivia Mooney is very aware of her neighbor’s good looks and his finely chiseled body, but she doesn’t want to get involved. He doesn’t realize it, but she’s his daughter’s tutor at school, and she can’t get involved. She spends her nights thinking about him and chatting with an intriguing man on an after dark dating site.
Then a series of murders occur in the surrounding counties, and it looks like they are creeping closer to Pinewood Springs. At first the cops are stumped, but over time a pattern begins to emerge: the women all used an after dark dating site.
As fear and danger slink closer, Olivia is thrown into the arms of the sexy biker, forever changing their lives.
The Insurgents MC series are standalone romance novels. This is Animal’s story. This book contains violence, abuse, strong language, and steamy/graphic sexual scenes. It describes the life and actions of an outlaw motorcycle club. HEA. No cliffhangers.

Chiah Wilder writes about rough, sexy men who know how to treat their women.

Always a lover of books, she began writing at a young age and continued through college with collections of short stories. Figuring she had to grow up and get a “real” job, her writing was placed on the back burner.

Her love of reading has always been center front in her life. Chiah’s love of bad boys both in and out of fiction has inspired her books. She loves an alpha male whose softer side is brought out by a passionate, spirited woman. In fiction there are no rules or boundaries, and fantasies can go as far as the characters want to take them. Steamy, romances with tough, sexy bad boys are her guilty pleasure along with brownies, cheddar cheese, and movie marathons.

The Dynamic Duo-Marry Me, Daddy

So, new month, new Daddy from the Dynamic Duo. Marry Me, Daddy was a lot of fun to read, and I loved everything that happened in it.

We have a bazillionaire named Spencer who has a month to find a suitable wife or he loses his grandfather’s company. He really doesn’t need the company, since he is super duper rich on his own, but it’s the whole principle of the matter. It’s his grandfather’s company. So he does what every self-respecting bazillionaire does, and puts up some billboards advertising for a wife. What, you never saw a billboard like that? There’s just one small glitch, because of course there is, and that’s that some copycat decided to put up their own billboard, and Spencer got all his applicants.

Meanwhile, across town, we have Anna, one of our Dirty Dozen, who loves working at the coffee shop, even though she hates coffee. She knows all her regulars, knows what they want to drink, and will stop and chat with them wherever they are. There’s a techy type who comes in a couple of times a week, gets coffee and pound cake, then sits in the corner and works on his computer. Anna doesn’t know much about him, until she sees his face and name on a billboard on her way to book club.

The next day, he comes into the coffee shop, talks to Anna, and all of a sudden, we have proposal #1.

This is a marriage of convenience story, but it almost feels like a comedy of errors a lot of the time. There are a couple of times when it seemed like the most catastrophic thing that could happen does happen. Without those mistakes, it wouldn’t be as funny, though. And really, with some of them, I have to wonder if they are truly mistakes or were they maybe a sign from the gods? Or was Jasper’s luck working in a weird way?

I like Spencer, even if his last name is ridiculous. I loved seeing how he felt when it came to the Dirty Dozen. I would think that the ladies would be overwhelming at the very best of times.

I really liked Anna, and how she all of a sudden came out of her shell. Definitely riskier than a bean burrito. She’s also very caring and rather tricksy when necessary. I like her little sneaky bits.

I love everything that happens in the end. Because all the things happen.

That’s all I have to say on this one. Go check it out! Happy reading!

Alta Hensley-Fallen Daughters

Alta Hensley has an interesting writing technique. She writes short stories that show up in various box sets, and then she either expands them or puts them in other books, using the box set as a kind of testing laboratory. There are others that she has written that have just sat on her desk. If you are like me and have read most of what Alta has written, then you will recognize most of her Fallen Daughters, either in their original form or in the form they showed up in other books. I recognized all of them, except for Fallen Daughter 3. Did that stop me from rereading all the stories? No way. I love to reread, so this was awesome for me.

Fallen Daughter #1

This one got tested out in Daddy’s Demands, and then found its way into one of the Top Shelf books, the one with Roman and Cheri, to be precise. I loved it in both its forms, and it’s still as fucking hot the second time around. Or third time. However many, it’s still ridiculously hot.

Fallen Daughter #2

This one first showed up in an anthology called The Dark Forest, which is a collection of adult fairy tales. Alta’s was a take on Sleeping Beauty. A very, very dirty version of Sleeping Beauty. I know that it showed up in another book, in parts at least, but my brain fails me right now, so I don’t remember which one it was. I loved the way that our heroine was given her gifts, and how they really did help her in her captivity.

Fallen Daughter #3

This was the only one of the stories that I haven’t read before. I will say that I haven’t read every single thing that Alta has written, so it may be in one of the books that I haven’t read yet. I really liked it though. It was a pretty sweet little story, which kind of makes it not Alta’s usual fare, but it is just a lovely little story, and left me very happy.

Fallen Daughters #4 & #5

There is a reason that I am combining these two. It’s because they were together in a book called No White Knight, and it was one of the first things that I read by Alta. #4 was known as Pallid Slave, and it disturbed me on a couple of levels. Disturbing good, though. OK, I have to get a smidge personal here. I have lost 2 brothers, one 31 years ago, one 16 years ago. There really isn’t a mark of that loss that shows everyone that you have lost someone you loved so much. That can be both a blessing and a curse. You don’t have to worry about anyone giving you sympathy when it’s overwhelming. Then again, you have to tell them that you are grieving when it gets too much, and that can be really hard to do. In Pallid Slave, there really is a very visible outward sign of mourning, which I think is more of a curse than a blessing in this case, but I found it to be a really interesting way to handle it. #5 was called a Hero in Disguise, and frankly, it could be ripped right out of today’s headlines, and that’s what makes it so fucking disturbing to me.

Fallen Daughter #6

This one first showed up in Twisted Sacraments. If you read those stories, you know that there is no happy in any of them, and it’s no different with Alta’s story. Frankly, I’m pretty sure that the world is going to end in a plague, and so any stories that have some kind of plague in them play right into that fear. And then you put the coocoo for cocoa puffs bits in there, and yup. I’m properly worried.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve read these stories in any form before, they are definitely worth a reread.
