Cari Silverwood-Steel

Recently, Cari gave us Prey. Today, we get Steel, the second book in the series. They aren’t directly related to each other, except for giant dick. And I mean giant dick with a capital giant.

OK, this one is oh my fucking gods of fucking good. You’ve got a nice touch of darkness, a lot of sexy, sexy, sex, not 1 but 2 enormous tools, and one feisty heroine with her trusty invisible dragon and data knife, which gets some unusual storage. Just in case you’re wondering, yes, I did love this story.

So, Baz was tortured by CESS. They ripped him to bits. Lucky for him, the cybermonks of Ommm found him. They turned him into a cyborg and put him back together. They made him all better except for one.small.thing. They gave him a substandard dick. He was told that as soon as he rescued a princess and brought her to them, he would get the dick he always wanted.

Meanwhile, across the galaxy, Ember and Hoss are fighting to do their job while they are on a planet that is under attack from a hostile species. Hoss is Ember’s guard and friend. Ember is a valuable CESS employee, a principal data extractor, or prinCESS. She’s there to get some CESS data off this planet, but she’s pretty sure that it’s not going to happen because of the attacking aliens. She figures that means she can live it up in the last few  minutes that she can actually live. You see, not only is Ember a prinCESS, she’s also a size queen. She likes big dicks and she cannot lie, you other ladies can’t deny. And Hoss is packing a trouser anaconda, and she can’t wait to get wrapped around that. So they go sit on the roof, and get real friendly.

Baz gets a mayday message and gets to the building where Ember and Hoss are sporting, just after the main event ends. Then he rescues them, and when he finds out that Ember is prinCESS, he says that he is going to take her to the cybermonks. Ember is mostly OK with that, because she wants to see them too, to find out some information.

Alright, let’s talk about the compartment that she has to go into during their travels. I think that Baz has a whole lot of fun with it, and it could totally be uncomfortable to a reader, but I thought it was pretty fucking hot and perverted in the right ways. Or wrong ways. Or whatever.

There is a lot of fun in this book. There is a lot of really hot fucking in this book. There is a lot of wordplay, I mean, the cybermonks are named Stryng Theory, Lightnyng Files, and Erroar Code. Is that not just epically funny? There are also GIANT DICKS. Your average size queen would run scared from these things. Ember runs, but not away from them, and she’s not scared. Baz’s new tool is a lot of fun, and ummm… maybe a little scary? And we can’t forget the cute little deer.

dust-lake-nature-8167

I never trusted the cybermonks. I knew that they were up to something from the very beginning. The aphrodisiac was tricksy. Too bad Ember didn’t get to have her revenge on them. I would’ve loved to see what she would’ve done to them. She’s wicked deadly with her data knife. And speaking of that, what the bad guys do with that? Yeah…

Alright. I love this book and this story. It’s funny, hot, dark-adjacent, and a great adventure. I can’t wait to see what happens next in this series.

K. Webster & Ker Dukey-Ven

K and Ker are two of my favorite authors and then when they get together, that favorite-ness is more than squared, it’s like quadrupled. And yes, I have a lot of favorite authors. I could probably do you a list, if you really wanted, but the best way to know who they are is to just watch who I blog about. Anyway, neither here nor there. What is relevant is Ven.

No, these lovely ladies haven’t given us a book about diagrams or anything. Wouldn’t that be funny? A dark romance written around Venn diagrams. This book is about Veniaman Vetrov, scion of one of the First Families of Russian crime. It’s also the second of the V Games books.

This one more or less, kinda sorta, maybe picks up where Vlad left off. Well, I think it might be more accurate to say that it overlaps with the end parts of Vlad, timing wise. You really don’t see a whole lot of overlap between Vlad’s book and this book, and you could read Ven as a standalone and still have enough of an idea as to what’s going on, but I would always recommend reading the whole thing, because why the hell not?

So, Diana has been disgraced because she was having sex with another man. Vlad guts the man and drags her to the Vetrov’s house and throws her at Ven. He tells the Vetrovs that he wants Diana in the V Games. However, Ven has long had a thing for Diana. She’s had one for him too. Now that she’s in his house, he’s going to keep her safe, from everyone, including his father.

Diana has been devastated. All of the First Families now look at her as trash and as a whore. She had a valid reason to do what she did, but now she’s paying for it and is lost. She can’t cope and she’s in a house of vipers. She has to deal with Ven’s evil father, his idiotic brother, and Vika, who’s engaged to Ven’s younger brother, is Vlad’s sister, and is a poisonous snake.

OK, first off, yeah, I hate Vika. She’s a poisonous nasty little bitch, but no one deserves to be saddled to Ruslan, nor to have to deal with all the things that she ends up having to handle. Vika really wants to be Diana, though, I think. When Diana is in good shape, she’s strong, powerful, and a queen. Vika is basically a cockroach under her show, and Vika knows it. Vika may be good at plotting and planning, but Diana is better. It’s the difference between someone who’s cunning and someone who is Machiavellian. Guess which one I think Diana is? The fathers in these books all need to die slow, painful, and torturous death. Death in the most terrible way possible. They need to be disjointed finger joint by finger joint. I wonder how long you could keep someone alive like that? Ven is… I’m not always sure if I like him or not like him. I got mad at him, a lot. He reacted a lot instead of acted and didn’t always listen when he should’ve. Or maybe he listened but he didn’t hear. Either way, he done fucked up. His cousins, his cousins are pretty damn awesome.

vulture

I love Vika, Vas, and Diana’s plan. And the milk was just such a splendid touch. That was the perfect cherry on top.

It’s going to be interesting to see what goes on with Vas. I didn’t like him much in Vlad, but he got better in Ven. He was actually likable, even though he had the shitty taste to get too close to Vika. And speaking of her, HA! Sucks to be her at the end.

Diana pretty much is a queen. She’s strong, she’s fierce, she’s a proven warrior. How could I have not loved every word about her? So, go read and tell me if you love every word about her too. Happy reading!

The Vetrov name comes with expectation.

My role in this world is simple: do as Father asks and live my life how he planned it.

My future is already written: run the empire.

Old Values. Old Rule. Old Money.

Until her.

Everything I do lacks purpose.

Everything I do is empty.

Women. Money. Power. It meant nothing.

Until her.

When the Volkov rose showed up at my home a disgraced package, hand-delivered by a Vasiliev prince, I began paving my own path.

I vowed to make her bloom once more.

She consumed me.

Her. Her. Her.

But you can’t love a rose and expect not to be damaged by her thorns.

She cut me too deep.

And I bled out.

My soul fled.

All that’s left is a cold, calculating monster.

I am Veniamin.

Volcanic. Victorious. Valiant. Vetrov.

When you enter my world to play games, prepare to lose.

In the end, I always find the thorn in my side, and I pluck it right out.

About K. Webster

K Webster is the author of dozens romance books in many different genres including contemporary romance, historical romance, paranormal romance, and erotic romance. When not spending time with her husband of twelve years and two adorable children, she’s active on social media connecting with her readers.

Her other passions besides writing include reading and graphic design. K can always be found in front of her computer chasing her next idea and taking action. She looks forward to the day when she will see one of her titles on the big screen.

About Ker Dukey

My books all tend to be darker romance, edge of you seat, angst filled reads. My advice to my readers when starting one of my titles…prepare for the unexpected.

I have always had a passion for storytelling, whether it be through lyrics or bed time stories with my sisters growing up.

My mum would always have a book in her hand when I was young and passed on her love for reading, inspiring me to venture into writing my own. I tend to have a darker edge to my

writing. Not all love stories are made from light; some are created in darkness but are just as powerful and worth telling.

When I’m not lost in the world of characters I love spending time with my family. I’m a mum and that comes first in my life but when I do get down time I love attending music concerts or reading events with my younger sister.

Natalie Bennett-Ace of Spades

Stop! Hammer time!

Seriously, no, stop. If you haven’t read the first two books in this series, put this review down, put Ace of Spades down and go pick up Queen of Hearts and start the series. If you don’t, you will not know what’s going on, and you will spoil yourself. If you continue to read past my warning, you will be spoiled for the first two books. Sorry, it’s the nature of the beast. I try really hard to not spoil, you know that I do, but talking about the current book will spoil the first two, just because of the way it’s written. So, be sure that this is what you want to do.

beach-blue-sky-cliff-555709

So, we’re back to Elena who has just found a box of ashes with her twin sister’s necklace in it. She knows that this means that her beloved twin sister, the other half of her soul is dead. Elena has to run to get some space so that she can think and make some plans. She calls Mateo and tells him that she’s not running away, she just needs a few days to take a break and think. Of course, we all know what this means, We all know how Mateo is. He’s freaking out over the whole thing, well, freaking out to the extent Mateo actually does. He demands that everyone find her, but do it quietly, so as not to warn the Ace and their people that Elena is missing.

Elena calls her buds, Mel and Peyton so that they can come and help her figure out what’s going on. They make her think of some things that she hadn’t before. Elena has spent a lot of time reacting instead of acting. Sadly, Mateo puts her in that position sometimes. I don’t think that he is doing it to be mean. He is doing it purposely though. There is a reason for him to do everything he does. Here’s one reason that I think that he’s doing it, at least my opinion. If he tells Elena who the Ace is, everything that’s going on, without making her work for it and without making her do things that she doesn’t agree with, then she wouldn’t believe him and wouldn’t appreciate all the facts. The fact that she had to go through all these steps, no matter how painful they were, she’s going to know that the facts that she found are true facts. And she’s going to know that all the steps that have been taken to keep her safe and to find out the truth were necessary.

OK, there have been times when I said I didn’t trust Elena’s BFFs because I thought that they were in on some conspiracy of Mateo’s, and I’m not too proud to say that I’m glad that I’m wrong. This book also changed my POV on Mateo. I was always in the love to hate him hate to love him camp, depending on what’s going on with him, but this book changed him for me. This book made me understand why he did the things that he did. Do I necessarily like what he did? Nope. Do I understand why he did it? Yup, or at least more yup. Overall, the book answered a lot of questions that I had. It left me satisfied and that’s always a good thing. One more thing, the Ace of Spades is often called the death card, so I found that an interesting title for the last book in this series.

ace-bet-business-262333

I figured the Ace was a relative, but not the relative that it was. It was kind of both a surprise and a non-surprise, if that makes sense.

I understood better why Elena’s father made the choices that he did with Mateo. It was the only thing that he could do. I would’ve done pretty much the same thing or my version of the same thing. I would want to make sure that my children would be safe.

OK, that’s all I have to say on this one. Go read the entire series. It’s awesome, and since AoS is out, there is no worry about cliffies. Happy reading!

B. B. Blaque-Who’s Sawree Now?

Oh man. Buckle up buttercup, it’s going to be a bumpy ride. Are you all strapped in now?

A few months ago, B. B. Blaque, who writes in the pitch black, wrote a book that is very likely one of the biggest mindfucks I’ve ever read. I’m Sawree played with my mind in all kinds of ways, and I was just like fuuuuck. Then BB said that she was going to write another one. And I wondered how she was going to top herself. Then I read Who’s Sawree Now?

Now, I read a lot of books. I mean, a lot a lot. I like reading dark, twisty, mindfuckery, and completely fucked up books. There are very few books that when I’m done with them, I am honestly completely at a loss for words. I looked at my husband and said fuck, just fuck. I can count those books on the fingers of one hand and still have left over fingers. It took me a couple of days to write my review on GR for it because I had to process it.

I’m not going to give you any kind of summary on it. Giving you a summary of the book won’t help you. You need to read it to even start to understand it. And if you haven’t read Sawree, you’re being thrown into the Marianas Trench without knowing how to swim. And you really don’t understand this story as much as it grabs you, strangles you, pulls your hair, and drags you along behind it. You just hope to hold on, catch your breath, and to be able to hold on to your sanity at the end.

Calling this book a mindfuck is doing it an injustice. The problem is, I don’t think there is another term for it. I mean, if Rod Serling, Alfred Hitchcock, and Richard Matheson got together and had a bastard child, it would be this book. Sterling is beyond a psychopath. Put Ed Gein, John Wayne Gacy, and Mengele together and you might have Sterling. He is probably the closest thing to pure evil I’ve ever read in a non-paranormal story.

When I reviewed Sawree, I suggested booze and fluffy kitties. I’m here to tell you, there ain’t enough fluffy baby kitties in the world. It may take baby goats. Even then, I’m not sure. I do know that you are going to need the booze.

I just have one more tip. Don’t drink the coffee.

Measha Stone-Until Daddy

If you’ve been around for a while, you know that I love Measha’s books. And we all know that books that I love to read are books that I love to share. So, today, I’m sharing Until Daddy by Measha.

This is an age play/DD/lg story. Carissa has started hanging out at Dark Lace, the local BDSM club. Before Christmas, she meets Jamison there. They play once, and then she doesn’t answer his texts or calls and doesn’t call him. Carissa is positive that kink relationships don’t work, so she’s more than happy to have a play partner, but she doesn’t want anything more, even if she had a lot of fun playing with Jamison. She keeps going to the club and asks if he’s there every time she goes, but she’s always told that he’s not. Except he always is, since he’s part owner.

Eventually, he confronts Carissa and tells her what he wants. She tells him that there’s no point in it. So they make a deal. She’ll be his for 1 month, and then they’ll see what happens. And oh yeah, she’ll call him Daddy. Jamison is positive that she will realize that they belong together. Carissa is bound and determined to make sure that she’s protecting herself and her heart. She’s been hurt because everyone in her life has hurt or abandoned her, and she’s not going to let it happen again, which is why she agrees to the expiration date.

I liked both Carissa and Jamison. They are both damaged. That damage has made them both stronger and weaker. If you look at a broken bone, the strongest spot on it is going to be where it has healed because bone has had to grow up and around it. It’s the same with Carissa and Jamison. The fact that they have been damaged has made them strong. But at the same time, it’s left them with huge glaring blind spots and other difficulties, including trust and commitment. So, see, stronger and weaker. There’s a lot going on in this book outside of the really hot sex and the great love story, but for me, the most important part of the story is the journies that Carissa and Jamison take to figure out who they are separately and together. Of course, that journey isn’t an easy one, it never is. The things that are most worth it never are easy, right?

black-lace-sabrina

OMG, Jamison’s father. What a fucking sleaze. Frankly, I thought that he might have done what Carissa suggested from the very beginning, but then again, I’m devious that way. And his father is one of Jamison’s huge blind spots. I mean, he’s spent so many years trying to make the man proud of him that he can’t see anything else.

OK, that’s all I have to say about this one today. Go check it out on the all mighty Zon and tell me what you think. Happy reading!

Lane Hart & D. B. West-Chase

Another day, another book, and another bad boy on a motorcycle. Husband and wife DB West and Lane Hart have brought us Chase, the first book in a new MC series.

This one is a second chance romance, which, if you’ve read here for a while, you know that I have a soft place in my black little heart for second chance romances. This one made me happy and made my black little heart a little less black for a little while.

Chase and Sasha were just teenagers when they first fell in love. Right after her 18th birthday, they went and got their names tattooed on each other. He had Sasha put on his chest, she had Chase tattooed on her wrist. This led to one of the nicest little quickie scenes I’ve seen in a while, which led to her agreeing to elope with her. o bad that none of this could last. They get in a bad accident because a drunk driver hits them. Chase gets off pretty easy, but Sasha ends up in the hospital and has to have a lot of surgery to repair various problems. This causes them to end up breaking up and spending 10 years apart.

Fast forward 10 years, Chase is a VP in the MC he was prospecting when he and Sasha were dating. Sasha is now a reporter for the local TV news. He watches her every night on the news. One particular night, she’s reporting from the scene of a car accident. One that Chase may or may not have caused and where he may or may not have been seen. And that’s where all the trouble starts.

Torin, Chase’s brother and prez of their MC, tells Chase that he needs to get Sasha under control because she’s going to cause problems. Sasha, being a reporter, finds out that there is stuff going on that Chase didn’t know about. There is intrigue and suspense all over the place, as well as some really, really hot sex.

So, I really love both Sasha and Chase. Even better, I really love them as a couple. And I have to say, I love that there are brothers named Abe and Gabe in this MC. I also gotta love a MC that’s thinking ahead and wants to keep the really nasty drugs out of their area and attract more tourists for more money for the area. That’s a little different from what you normally see in MC books, but it’s a nice change. It lets the series stand out a little more. I didn’t like Torin at any point in the book, and when it comes his time for a book, I’m going to really hope that the authors can rehab him. It’s not always easy to do that.

black-and-white-brake-car-803937

I would be good money that the secret that Torin was trying to hide was that he fucked another woman. That’s the only thing that I could see him doing that would be as damaging as he said it would. I’m just wanting to know how well paying off that blackmail money worked for him. Damn, yeah, I know that makes me sound cold-hearted, but then again, I am. I said I didn’t like him. I don’t think he deserved what happened, but I still don’t like him.

I’m looking forward to the rest of the series. The book was well-written and the story moved well. Go check it out. Happy reading!
